How to Talk to your Child About Race - The Parenting Edition

Talking to your kids about race and racism can feel daunting; however, not talking about race can be more detrimental to groups who are greatly impacted by racist ideology and policy. Ibram Kendi has conducted extensive research in antiracism and wrote several books to help parents and children learn about America's oppressive history. Antiracism is a movement that teaches people to combat racism through labeling racist ideology and racist policy. The antiracist movement encourages individuals to confront racism within themselves, in social situations and get involved with dismantling structural racism that is written in policy. For starters we suggest reading the following books:
Anti-Racist Baby - Ibram X. Kendi
Stamped (for kids) - Ibram X. Kendi
Stamped from the Beginning (adults) - Ibram X. Kendi
