Ana Cristina: friend, theatre maker, banana
Today I sat down with artist and theatre maker, Ana Cristina Schuler Da Silva. An NYU graduate, she’s been making art and dodging rats in NYC for 10 whole years. Ana and I worked together in catering back in 2018 for a little extra cash and a whole lot of free food, but now she works as a professional organizer. Side hustles aside, Ana is a true thespian. She wrote, produced, co-directed and starred in “The Chickens Have Come Home to Roost.” The painful and hilarious 90 minute play is about a childhood imaginary best friend, Birdie, who happens to be a chicken. Birdie is by Angie’s side as she goes through puberty, has her first kiss, and is sexually assaulted by a friend of a friend. The show incorporates original music, movement, and puppets. It was a huge success! Now that it’s been a few weeks, Ana reflects on the financial aspects of producing independent theatre and shares her future plans for the show.

Always take advantage of a clean public bathroom
Last week, my college bff, Maddie, visited me in NYC and we were getting into our usual shenanigans (pissing off neighbors, singing, and having too much fun ) The trip was cut short when we became aware of the severity of the pandemic. This week we're back in Texas and taking a moment to pause and reflect with the rest of the world. Hoping everyone stays safe, healthy, and sane during these difficult times. XOXO Katie Talks A Lot
