Kartik (Damodar) is the best, the purest of purifiers, and most glorious of all months. Kartik month is particularly dear to Lord Sri Krishna. This month is full of bhakta vatsalya. Any vrata, even the smallest, will yield huge results. The effect of performing a Kartik Vrata lasts for one hundred lifetimes, Kartik or the festival of offering lamps to Lord Krishna, glorifies Lord Krishna’s pastime of being bound with ropes by Mother Yashoda. This is not just about lighting one lamp. Usually, the tradition said that as the Kartik month comes, you must double the lamps that you light because one thing is, the day has become shorter so you need a little more light to do your daily activity. Another thing is to indicate that you are multiplying the light in your life.

Prabhu Ji is telling the actual concept of anger and what is the importance of managing it. "Anger is not just a moment, its is a process and it doesn't starts at the point where you are start feeling it, and neither it ends where its feeling end", Prabhu Ji said. We don't have to keep our anger within us. In initial stage of our anger, one should start meeting and never do any mantra. Prabhu Ji also talked about type of anger people have. And then he talked about the reasons. In Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta , Lord Krishna has told that the person who keeps his/her calm in all the situations no matter what, is dear to Krishna. Anger is just like some rotten vegetable which will never make up to an edible dish. One of the things that make us susceptible to anger is overthinking about the situation which actually doesn't exists. The other thing is communication. The third reason is Ego problem, ego should not overcome our personality.  Some solutions he mentioned during his session is that be mindful, do some breathing and once you are calm, your anger is vanished then asks questions to yourself and revisit your situation.  For full talk log on to the podcast and don't forget to check our website srmpodcasts.com

Ep 2: What is Freedom? Sattva, Rajas & Tamas Gunas

Welcome to the podcast Krishna Calling by Radhakant Damodar Das. H.G. Radhakant Damodar Das Prabhu is a disciple of H.H. Gopal Krishna Goswami Maharaj (ISKCON GBC & TRUSTEE) and giving his unconditional services to ISKCON and other society to create awareness Krishna consciousness from more than a decade. In this podcast, H.G. This is a live recording by Radhakant Prabhu. In this episode he is discussing What is freedom? Is it the freedom which we got in 1947 or is it something else. Radhakant Prabhu describes it by telling various life stories in which people tried to get freedom in a manner they want to but at the end got something else.

The one who actually controls our freedom is our almighty god, the lord Krishna. He talks about three lesson from Bhagwad Geeta.  These three gunas are called: sattva (goodness, constructive, harmonious), rajas (passion, active, confused), and tamas (darkness, destructive, chaotic). All of these three gunas are present in everyone and everything, it is the proportion that is different, according to Hindu worldview. The interplay of these gunas defines the character of someone or something, of nature and determines the progress of life.

Sattva is the quality of goodness, positivity, truth, serenity, balance, peacefulness, and virtuousness that is drawn towards Dharma and Jnana (knowledge). For spiritual progress in this Age of Kali, there is no alternative, there is no alternative, there is no alternative to the holy name, the holy name, the holy name of the Lord.' For progress in spiritual life, the śāstras recommend meditation in Satya-yuga, sacrifice for the satisfaction of Lord Viṣṇu in Tretā-yuga and gorgeous worship of the Lord in the temple in Dvāpara-yuga, but in the Age of Kali one can achieve spiritual progress only by chanting the holy name of the Lord.
