S5E33 - Emma Morrison on Teaching those with different needs
Emma talks to me about stand-up comedy, imrpov, card games and mindfulness activities amongst other things as she covers how she helps meurodivergent and other students in the learning environment.Emma Morrison is a dedicated tutor, learning developer and author with a strong academic and professional background. She studied biology at London University, which laid the groundwork for her analytical approach to both writing and personal development. In addition, she holds a postgraduate diploma in teaching adult learners with Specific Learning Difficulties, a Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Coaching, Executive Function coaching, further enhancing her expertise in supporting others to overcome challenges. With a career rooted in education, Emma has worked extensively to empower students, through her STRIVE Coaching Model, to reach their full academic potential. Previously she worked as Learning Designer at University College London (UCL), Curriculum Designer at the Institute of European Studies, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and led the Centre for Teaching Innovations at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin.
Alexandra has a strong background in e-learning, learning design and innovative teaching strategies. In her PhD she analyzed in how far technology is used in teaching practices at European universities.

As a precursor to World Autism Acceptance Week (2-8th April) Hannah shares with me her personal experience of what it is like to be autistic gives some ideas for how to use that awareness in teaching.
