Veronicka is a mixed race settler on the unceded coast Salish territories in so-called Vancouver. They're a non-binary queer vegan who's a gardening priestexx mystic living the urban hermit life with their animal familiars. They're a double Aquarius who loves deep conversations, thinking about aliens, reading tarot, and dismantling oppressive systems.

Life Update & Listener Email
On today's episode, I talk about where I am currently, just having experienced a concussion of winter break from a freak fender bender (I rear ended someone at a stoplight). I muse about how it was nice to take a social media break, even if forced, and how I sometimes think that watching other people's spiritual journeys online makes me procrastinate on my own spiritual connection, because it's just not as sexy!
I then read on air, a listener email, who responded to my Which New Year episode. This listener, Lisa of @ninthwavedesigns on Instagram, is so thoughtful in her own exploration of Samhain vs. New Years, giving us much to think about, including the timing of Samhain, Zeno's Paradox of the Tortoise and Achilles, and the Kabbalistic belief if tzimtzum of creation. I learned so much from her!
Conversation with Dyanna of Safe Passage Tarot
On this episode, Dyanna and I talk about our messy lives, finding purpose outside of the religions we were raised in, and how we've moved forward when family is less than accepting. Connect with her on Instagram: @safe_passage_tarot Mentions: The Wild Unknown Tarot Deck and Lindsay Mack's Tarot for the Wild Soul Course
Season 2 Kickoff: Conversation with Rebecca Scolnick the Video Witch
Welcome to Season 2!
On today's episode, I talk with Rebecca Scolnick, who I met on Instagram, and loved the brevity in her bio: Video Witch, NYC. Yes!
Her website says that she is a filmmaker, and creative intuitive with a fervor for personal mythology, and I am so here for this conversation that covers her journey to find tarot through an angel deck, and our mutual love of The Hero's Journey.

Which New Year?
On this episode, recorded just after Samhain, I muse about being caught between the witch's calendar, and the "regular" calendar. How can I feel like it's a new year, when the new year is celebrated on January 1st?
Dancing into the Darkness: A Solstice Celebration
On today's episode, I talk about darkness & light, giving voice to my lived experience of postpartum OCD. Trigger warning for this episode, as I read a piece I had published that deals with OCD intrusive images, including suicidality & homicidality.
Tarot Suits as a Battle of Elements: Air vs Fire
On this episode, I talk about the elements of air & fire as they relate to the tarot. This was sparked (no pun intended!) by my purchase of The Dark Days Tarot, which goes against a more traditional view of which element is paired with which suit. In the tradition I learned, swords= air and wands=fire, but Wren McMurdo of Dark Days Tarot has followed her witchcraft tradition and made swords=fire and wands=air. So I go on a rambling adventure around how seeing the tarot through a different lens can enhance the practice, as well as my own feelings about each of the elements.
Advent Musings: Mother Mary as High Priestess/Empress, and St. Lucia's Day
Happy St. Lucia's Day! Or better yet, my birthday! On today's episode, I go on a winding journey around topics related to advent, including my intimate experience of this time of year, as I celebrate my birthday, anniversary, and oldest child's birthday, as well as an exploration of the deep magic of Advent. I talk about ancestral embodiment of St. Lucia, the patron saint of my birthday!
Peter the Bear & Reclaiming Ancestral Wisdom
In this episode, I share a personal story about my toddler's visit from an ancestor, walking you through some of my ancestral healing session with Darla Antoine (https://darlaantoine.com), and finish up with some musings about white people finding ancestral connections... and asking the question...is this whole journey I'm on one of cultural appropriation?
North & South Nodes with their Corresponding Tarot Cards
On this episode, I explore the north and south nodes of astrology and their corresponding tarot cards. There's a theory that the north node is your "guiding star" and your south node is the lessons you've come into this lifetime with, or what you're learning in your first 30 years. This information was so helpful for me to think about! I mention Jubilee of @cedartreeceramics, and www.astrostyle.com
Samhain Tarot Reading for the Collective
In this episode, I share a collective tarot reading for Samhain, using The Pagan Otherworlds Deck. I mention Lindsay Mack's Tarot for the Wild Soul Course (https://www.lindsaymack.com/) & Yarrow Magdalena's Podcast (http://www.daydreamingwolves.com/)
The Empress Card as Ancestral Embodiment
On this episode, I continue my exploration of The Empress card, as I am deep in ancestral exploration. I talk about historical waitresses empresses were recipients of a blood lineage. This means that my physical embodiment of my ancestral lineage is an empress moment in life. I didn't do anything to earn my genes, I'm just receiving them! I share about my first session with Darla Antoine. Her website is: https://darlaantoine.com
Episode 29: A Season of Death
A Witch in the Pews: My Experience with Christianity & Witchcraft
I go on a ramble about my experience as a witch who attends church. I'ts not meant to be prescriptive, and does not dive deeply into the historical experience of the church's persecution of witches throughout the years. This is only my personal experience in this moment.
Birth Card & Year Card: Combining Numerology & Tarot.
On this episode, I talk about how my birth year (The Hermit) shows up in my life, going way back to some of my earliest memories. I share about taking a break from podcasting this fall aligning with The Hermit, and then muse about how to figure out a year card. Am I gonna have a Magician, Wheel of Fortune, or Sun year coming up? What do you think?

Boundaries, Compartmentalization, & Exploring Temperance
On today's episode, I explore my relationship to boundaries and compartmentalization. I take a look at my history with dividing the world into categories, my professional experience as a mental health counselor and how I used boundaries as self-care, and share about the Temperance card, which is all about de-compartmentalizing parts of the self to make and share a whole being. But what does that look like in today's context, with social media, business branding, and online safety (both physical and emotional?).
Conversation with Jordan of Sincerely the Tarot
On today's episode, I had the pleasure of talking with Jordan of Sincerely the Tarot. Jordan is a queer trans tarot reader who sends magic to your mailbox. He is a lover of the tarot and the support it can bring to others. I had the pleasure of first connecting with Jordan on Instagram (@sincerely_the_tarot) and had a tarot by mail reading from him, which was incredible! We talk about tarot, being educators, parents, and queer, and how much we love the Pacific Northwest! We mention Lindsay Mack's Tarot for the Wild Soul course (www.tarotforthewildsoul.com) we're taking this fall, and our love of Tess Giberson's (@cityxwitch) zines!
The Moon Card & Ancestor Work
In this episode, released at The Super New Moon in Leo, I explore The Moon, a Major Arcana card. I read from the Smith-Waite Centennial "LWB," Lewellyn's Complete Book of Tarot definition/keywords on The Moon, and Bakara Wintner's WTF is Tarot book on The Moon. I then share an experience I had this week with the theme of the moon's intuition, where I had a dream about an ancestor and had it confirmed the next day by a living relative!
Conversation with Lindsey Deaner of Promising Sage
On today's episode I am talking with Lindsey, who is a production coordinator by day, which occupies about 50 to 60 hours a week, not including her hour long commute each way. She moved to Los Angeles three years ago in September, and she's been working on consciously creating a beautiful life for herself ever since. She's a Tarot reader, avid crafter, creative thinker, problem solver, handy-woman, writer, and free spirit. I'm so excited to introduce you guys to Lindsey who is on , as @promising.sage. We talk about tarot, astrology, Myers Briggs (we are both INFJs!), reading tarot for friends and family, and growing up in small towns.
The Hermit & The Hierophant
In this episode, I look at two cards that I have been experiencing energetically: The Hermit & The Hierophant. The Hermit is my birth card, and one that I tend to gravitate toward. I like spending time in introspection, daydreaming, reflecting, and general introverted time alone. And yet, there is also something amazing about the sacred knowledge of authority, or institutions, or people who have gone before me on the spiritual path.

Conversation with Maria Strom of Hipchick Tarot
Friday the 13th with the High Priestess
A special release! To celebrate Friday the 13th, I've done an early release of my episode on the High Priestess. I talk about how I resonate with this card, explore the imagery and symbolism, and then segue into an exploration of why we (spiritual white women) are so drawn to images of Indian and other brown goddesses, rather than exploring the divine feminine "in our own backyard" by looking at goddesses from our bloodline. I talk about Freyja and the Celtic Morrigan. I mention Biddy Tarot, Tarot.com and Aclectic Tarot, as well as "Google" for some of my brief research on the symbolism.
Conversation with Jasmine Wolfe
On this episode, I have the pleasure of talking with Jasmine Wolfe. Jasmine is a numerologist, tarot reader, and self proclaimed esoteric intellectual based in Sacramento California. As a “jack of all trades” type of artist, she seeks to create space for defiant self love within herself and in the every growing spiritual community. She is a life long student, teacher, and performer who is trying to make this world just a bit softer. We talk about her tarot journey, being a witch girl vs. a horse girl, being an artist, her love of dance, the challenge of the writing process, and most importantly, she teaches me all about numerology! My mind is blown, ya'll! Instagram: @satinxsatan Website: https://esotericjasmine.wordpress.com/ During our interview, Jasmine mentions @alizakelly as an astrologer that she follows! I also mention the podcasts Truth Telling with Elizabeth Dialto and Rune Soup with Gordon White.
Finding Creative Intuition in Liminal Spaces
On today's episode, I define creativity, and intuition, which make up the foundational tagline for this podcast! I share from my life where creative intuition shows up, mostly in the grey areas, the spaces between things. I talk about four areas where it's showing up currently: 1) My experience as an adoptee 2) My experience being queer 3) My identity as a working mom 4) My spirituality, walking the path between Christianity and Witchcraft.
Tarot & Terror: Lessons from the Fives
On today's episode, I look at the current political situation of detaining immigrant children, and ask: what does the Five of Swords, what does the Five Wands , what does the Five of Cups , and what does the Five of Pentacles have to offer us, me personally, and us as a collective, right now? What are the invitations that these cards are asking for us to explore together as we wrestle with the current 24/7 news cycle and social media. I talk about colonialism, patriarchy, white supremacy, trauma, power, control, struggle, and lots of difficult topics. No easy answers, but sitting with the questions. I mention Lindsay Mack's Tarot for the Wild Soul Trauma episode & training. Find more at: www.tarotforthewildsoul.com I quote Bakara Wintner's WTF is Tarot: and How do I do it? You can follow her: https://www.instagram.com/bakaraw/ I mention The Complete Book of Tarot Meanings by Anthony Louis. I read from the LWB that came with the centennial edition of the Smith-Waite Tarot Deck.
Tarot as a Metaphorical Map of the Moment
On Episode 12 I introduce you to some of the information that I am learning from Ren Zatopek's Simple Spiritwork online course (that's free!), including her quote that "all maps are metaphors." So tarot can be a map for this moment?! Yes! I was introduced to Ren in an episode of Sarah Chappell's podcast: So You Wanna Be a Witch? I recommend listening to that podcast, as well! I mispronounce her last name in the episode, oops! It sounds like chapel, not shapelle. Sorry Sarah! I take this concept of maps as metaphors and apply it to my tarot practice. I share some vulnerable insights from a recent motherhood experience I had with my son who lives with sensory processing disorder, and my own insecurities as a mom in general. Resources: Ren's FREE Simple Spiritwork Course: https://www.renspiritwork.com/simplespiritwork Follow Ren on Instagram at: https://www.instagram.com/renspiritwork/ So You Wanna Be a Witch Podcast: https://soyouwannabeawitch.com/
Hanging by a Moment: A Look at the Hanged Man
On this episode, I take a look at tarot card #12 in the Major Arcana: The Hanged Man. You'll learn different meanings for this card, including: -suspension - restriction -sacrifice -letting go -martyrdom -surrender, and -changing perspectives. You'll be introduced to Tess Giberson's zine on Major Arcana, which says that The Hanged Man explores discomfort and examining where our limitations are. Tess references Rachel Pollack's philosophy that the Major Arcana is split into 3 lines of 7 cards, with The Hanged Man dealing with identity/metamorphosis. I discuss my feelings of limitations with these definitions, and wanting The Hanged Man energy to encourage people to play more, to trust their body/mind/spirit and embrace spontaneous experiences to get out of their comfort zone and see the world from a different perspective, not because they're being forced to, but out of childlike curiosity!
Bonus Episode: Tarot Reading with Carli
On this bonus episode, I give Carli a Dark Exact tarot reading, which is an expanded version of a Past, Present, Future reading, and features 9 cards in total. The deck we used is the Gustave Klimt deck, which is absolutely gorgeous! If you go to my instagram (@leorisingtarot) you can see an image of the spread. And follow @darkexact to see more about their cards and spreads. A great Portland based tarot reader!
Lions and LGBTQ: Reading Tarot at Pride
On this episode I reflect on my experience reading tarot at the Burien Pride festival over the weekend. I look at the dictionary definition of pride, as well as the definition of it that I had grown up believing. I then talk about community and where lion symbolism shows up in tarot, like on the Major Arcana strength card. Mentions: Nicole Hamilton Yoga (@yogabird19) as well as Adaptive Yoga Northwest.
