Episode 14 - The challenges of wearing too many hats as an entrepreneur
Doris Valade founded, grew and then sold her food manufacturing company after 35 years. During that time, she was active on many food industry boards, and was included on the list of Profit magazine’s Top 100 Female Entrepreneurs from 1999-2005 and again in 2016. Today, Doris keeps busy supporting and mentoring entrepreneurs and small business owners through the day to day challenges of running their business and trying to stay sane. She loves to share her business experiences and life lessons knowing how tough it is to run your own business. Entrepreneurs and small business owners often have the challenge of wearing too many hats along with limited finances and time to do everything. So, Doris gives business support to entrepreneurs and small business owners by helping them to set goals and then breaking down the big goal into smaller chunks. As a Jack Canfield Certified Trainer in The Success Principles she also uses mind minding to create a picture of the big goals and the steps needed to achieve them. Episode 13 - Coaching heart patients to design their own lifestyle behaviours
Dr Robert Kelly is a Consultant Cardiologist and Lifestyle Medicine Doctor. Thought Leader. Author. Health Habits Coach. His purpose in life is to impact the heart health of at least 1 million people around the world through Cardiology and Lifestyle Medicine education, intervention and by empowering and coaching health behaviour changes. Robert is an internationally trained, published, and board-certified private practice physician. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine, Senior Lecturer in Lifestyle Medicine, and Positive Psychology. Robert lectures in healthcare and leadership education around lifestyle medicine and human health plus performance. Roberts is also a Certified Tiny Habits Coach and behaviour designer and helps patients to design lifestyle behaviours that improve their heart health. He treats patients of all ages who are concerned about their heart health, their symptoms of chest pain, breathlessness, heart beats racing, dizziness; a family member or friend may have died suddenly or had a stroke or heart attack; they are newly diagnosed with blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, irregular heartbeat, long Covid illness. The real problem is lifestyle – stress, poor sleep, unhealthy eating, smoking, too much alcohol and not exercising. Roberts assesses their physical heart health, investigates, and treats them, several with stents. Then he address their lifestyle and emotional health issues to manage and, in some cases, reverse their heart problems.  He teaches patients how to design simple, easy to do and successful ways of permanently changing their health behaviours. Robert also supports and coaches them through their health journeys. Robert also helps people including healthcare staff and corporate employee who find they are stuck in life, on a non-stop treadmill of work – sleep – work -sleep every day and are unable to stop the treadmill, pause and see what is happening to them, let alone do something about it. Many of these people are also patients. His expertise as an Interventional Cardiologist made Robert realise that while stents do mend the heart, they do not fix the reason why the stents were needed. He became a board certified in Lifestyle Medicine and Health Coaching in last 5 years, which has been a game changer in helping people to change their habits, and transform their health with simple, small changes in their daily lives. Dr Kelly has been influenced by many performance coaches, including Jack Canfield. He is on his Train the Trainer Program and have attended his Breakthrough to Success program. Robert has also used his Success Principles throughout his life and work. He likes to keep things simple, as most people understand that. Jack talks about E+R = O. In my Cardiology practice, how patients respond to their personal circumstances, health, life, the world determines their risk of developing heart disease. Empowering patients and helping them to respond positively determines successful health behaviour change, and lifelong happiness and success. Robert has helped patients to take small steps and change health behaviours one day at a time. He has educated them about being responsible and taking ownership for their health choices and consequences. He's had 100% success in all the programs in terms of giving people self-awareness, applying behaviour changes for better self-care. Their success has reinforced his efforts to make a greater impact on heart health around the world, starting with his own self-care and that of his clients and patients. Episode 12 - Success Principle #3 - Decide what you want
Maria Elena is a lecturer at the University of Duisburg Essen and the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf, both in Germany.  She also runs online Success Principles workshops for women all over the world which focus on helping people find out what it is that they really want.  She is a contributing author to The Book on Joy, which was released last year and is available now on Amazon. In this episode Maria Elena tells us how she works with women who have comfortable lives and are looking to going from a good life to a great life but are having trouble defining what they want. Success Principle #3 - "Decide what you want" tells us that you have to decide what you want to do, be, and have. What do you want to accomplish?  What do you want to experience?  And what possessions do you want to acquire?  In the journey from where you are to where you want to be, you have to decide where you want to be. Episode 9 - How do you see yourself?
This might shock you… Hi, I’m about to say something that might shock you. Here goes: How you see the world around you is a direct reflection of how you see yourself. As Carl Jung once said, “Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.” If someone annoys or frustrates you, it’s probably because they represent something you don’t like about yourself. For example, if you often feel a lot of anger or frustration over what you see as other people’s ignorance, maybe your own fear of ignorance (or being perceived as ignorant or unintelligent) is the root source of your anger. Or, if you find it very difficult to trust in other people’s good intentions, maybe it’s because you’re worried that YOU aren’t deserving of other people’s trust. So if you’ve been finding yourself experiencing a lot of negative thoughts about the world around you lately, I encourage you to dig into that and explore what it says about you! Episode 8 - What is a life coach for teens
What is a life coach? I always get asked this question and there are several definitions of what a life coach is. So, the best advice I can offer you is to do some research of your own wherever you live because we’re all different. The first thing to do is to identify what you want help with, and then look for a life coach. My passion as a life coach is to find out what you want in life, even if you don’t know right now. Then I guide you towards the right tools and techniques that are relevant to you. When you have them you will be able to find your direction in life. Adults and teenagers have similar problems and today’s blog discusses life coaching for teenagers. One of the biggest areas of concerns for me are teenagers. As someone who works with teenagers extensively in the UK education sector, I am dismayed at the lack of interest in life coaching for teens. There is a clear focus on academic achievement at the expense of a holistic appreciation of the individual students. Just think if every teenager had a life coach, they could coach them to create the life they want to live. The concept of teenagers finding their identity and therefore able to make great decisions about their future is critical to engage students more in their learning. Life coaching for teens. Life coaching for teens works and I can prove. It transforms teenagers lives and moves them from living a life without direction to being in control of their life. Once teens have a clear identity and direction in life, they are able to choose the next stage of their education with greater clarity. This leads to them engaging more with their learning because it has a purpose. Did you know that over 70% of the teenagers I work with find it difficult to find their direction in life without guidance? It makes teens feel unheard, stuck, and frustrated. As a life coach I think it’s100% wrong that young people should be burdened with those feelings. I strongly believe that each and everyone deserves to know where they’re going and how to get there. I was lucky in that I knew from the age of 7 what I wanted to do. I also know that along the way I’ve lost my way at times. So, I understand what it’s like. What are The Success Principles? Episode 6 - Let's talk about commitment!
Hi, I'm Lesley Strachan Today, let's talk about commitment! I’m talking about your willingness to give 100 percent of yourself to accomplishing a specific goal. When you think about the dreams you want to achieve in life – the person you want to be, the values you want to uphold, the experiences you want to have – how committed are you to making those dreams come true? Your answer to that question will determine your level of success in life. Because total, unyielding commitment is the only guaranteed path to manifesting your dreams. The only thing separating the people who achieve their goals from those who don’t is that the achievers never give up. That’s why today I’d like to share one of my most powerful success principles that will help you cultivate the kind of commitment you need to achieve any goal you can imagine. Keep listening to discover what it is… If you commit anything less than 100% of yourself to a goal, you make it SO MUCH harder for yourself to achieve that goal! Here’s why 100% commitment is always the way to go. What are YOU committed to achieving? This week I encourage you to spend some time thinking about the goals you dream of achieving in your life. During August I am committed to losing all my lockdown weight - around 10 lbs worth which seriously has to go so I can get into more of my clothes. I've starting using my Samsung Health app on my phone to log everything I do so there's no shying away from 'reality' Then ask yourself: Exactly HOW committed am I to achieving these things? If your answer is anything less than 100% – and those goals are important to you – NOW is the time to make them your top priority and commit yourself completely to achieving them. Ask yourself: What’s stopping you from giving yourself fully to your dreams? Then do whatever you can to overcome that obstacle and free your attention and energy to focus on your goals. Because when you stop waffling and focus yourself fully on your dreams, you will be amazed at how much easier it will be for you to make them a reality! With love Lesley P.S. Episode 3 - How to get want you want
Hi, I wanted to hop on today to say thank you for listening to episode 2 called “What do you want” In this episode I’m going to talk about how to get what you want and put it into practice – yay! But here’s the thing FIRST you have to take 100% responsibility for your life. You must stop blaming and complaining about everything and everybody else so that you can consciously create the life you want. To achieve complete and full self-esteem we have to take full responsibility for our lives, for both our internal and external experiences. Often, we fall into the trap of blaming other people for how we feel and for what happens to us. We become distracted by looking for the solutions to our problems outside of ourselves. It is much more profitable, however, to look inside ourselves, to see how we are creating what we are experiencing through our thoughts, images and behaviours. Taking the position that we are responsible for our responses to the world gives us more power. So, I hear you thinking “Well that’s never me”. You know what it is YOU. What you’re not prepared to face is that you need to change because you can’t change other people or situations. So, here’s the thing are you ready and willing to change? The formula we’re going to work with is called E + R = 0. E stands for all the events in our lives. R stands for our response to those events and O stands for the outcomes we experience. I find this hard sometimes and must work hard on myself. Here’s an example: EVENT I recently wanted to change my car and the whole process from start to finish was hideous. I was getting really wound up and angry about the whole process RESPONSE. The OUTCOME could have been that I shouted and became negative when in fact I really wanted the car. BUT the problem was the dealerships IT systems, lack of training of sales people and a lack of customer focus. This wasn’t under my control, so I thought why am I getting wound up about it. If I changed my response to one of helping them get through their problems, I will get my car quicker so that’s what I did. I’ve been right where you are right now and yet I have achieved more than I ever thought possible using this formula. I’m now a Jack Canfield certified trainer in the Success Principles and I’ve used my decades of experience curated it into a short course specifically designed for YOU to help you to create the life and career you never thought possible. Episode 2 – What do you want?
Hi,  I wanted to hop on today to say thank you for listening to episode 1 called How to get the life and career you will LOVE! In this episode I’m going to talk about how to get started. One of the main reasons why most people don’t get what they want is that they haven’t decided what they want. They haven’t defined their desires in clear and compelling detail. After being told repeatedly in childhood to be “sensible,” now as adults—in the name of being sensible—we end up becoming numb to our own desires. There are too many layers of “should’s,” “ought to’s,” and “you’d better’s” piled on top of and suffocating what you really want. This causes you to doubt yourself and you end up stuck like a spider in a web – paralysed with uncertainty. So how can you reclaim your true desires?
