Kaila graduated from a Web Development program in Manitoba. After completing the required practicum at a Regina digital media company, she was offered a permanent role. She has since made the city her home base, working at various web and advertising firms while freelancing in her spare time.
Using her over 10 years of experience in the industry, just over a year ago, Kaila took the plunge and turned her side hustle into a full time gig. She now spends her days helping other small businesses with their own digital strategies.
More recently, Kaila has joined forces with the Build Love Project . As a part of the team, she volunteers her time and skills along with a group of fellow entrepreneurs to provide an annual home renovation for a family with a-typical challenges.....

The story of Sprout began with two sisters and a common love for great food. This love ‘sprouted’ into a dream to share that great food with friends, family and the community. With years of experience in the food industry, Haley Blackmore (Business Manager/Owner) and Jssel Hysuik (Head Chef/Owner) decided to give their dream a shot. Sprout began as a small catering company but has blossomed into so much more. In the fall of 2015, Sprout grew a new addition to the business and Sprout Cafe was born. Today, you can find the sisters giving it their all in their restaurant, growing the catering business, helping out in the community and in their (limited) down time – watching Ellen.
Im lucky enough to call these two wonderful women my friends. I got to sit down to talk about their journey, their ups & downs and everything in between.
Kam, being born and raised in Regina, SK, has always found herself involved in community. Having played soccer growing up, she learnt the importance of encouragement and self-esteem, particularly for girls. Kam was fortunate enough to receive a soccer scholarship to the University of Regina, and while being a student athlete, she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Soon after graduating, Kam started teaching with the Regina Public School Board. Fast forward 12 years later, Kam has worked with thousands of youth across Saskatchewan and Ontario. From Kam’s early years, playing soccer for the U of R and through her early teaching experiences, her goal was to dedicate herself to enabling young females to realize their full potential through encouragement and self-belief. To better equip herself to achieving her goals, Kam completed her Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology. Through her experience as a teacher and community involvement, Kam is now more certain than ever that her purpose in life is to help those around her, more specifically, the youth in our communities. Kam’s passion and goal remains - to help young females realize their strengths, motivate them to use their ability to do great things, and cultivate positive change in their lives; who in turn can model their lives for positive change to others around them. She is devoted to youth, showing them their true talents, and being one individual that can be a source of encouragement to help empower and encourage the younger generation of females.
Recently I had the pleasure of interviewing Amanda Ruller. Amanda competed for the Canadian Women’s Football team earning a silver at Worlds in 2017. Now she actively competes in Olympic Lifting for team Saskatchewan and holds the Saskatchewan record for both snatch (69kg) and clean and jerk (88kg) for her weight class (55kg). She is also a sports broadcaster on a show call ‘In The Huddle’ where she Interviews the Saskatchewan Roughriders. In the winter she works as a broadcaster for Sask Junior Hockey League. Lastly, she is also a content creator for Tourism Saskatchewan Education Council. Needless to say, this woman definitely has a lot on her plate but she crushes it daily.

We ask her at the end, 3 pieces of advice she would give to someone:
1. Balance- you have to weed through many daily struggles (Ex: Mom guilt- its so real). Understand that each day will be different, but having balance in professional and personal life is key
2. Following your passion isn't always easy- fear of change is good.
3. Don't care what others say- prove them wrong
4. Keep your head down- don't always compare yourself to what others are doing in Regina, follow ppl from other cities
Welcome to the first episode of On Her Shoulders! We are extremely excited to share this journey with you. Excited to hear from all different types of women from all different walks of life. We decided to keep our podcasts unedited, so you can hear to real, raw side of everyone. Bear with us on this first one, we have 4 wonderful women, but at times the audio was a little dodgy. Some many amazing topics in the room, it was a little hard to keep up.
Our guests are the women from Real Women Talks(RWT), a collective of 4 powerful, creative, energetic and inspiring women. As of now, RWT is on social media and tackles many different topics and issues that women (and moms) who are entrepreneurs experience and deal with daily.
Welcome Natasha Mohr (Mohr Mortgage), Karey Kapell (Next Level Business Coaching), Heather Murphy (Authentically: Business & Life Coaching), and Melissa McCullough (Trademark Homes). Check them all out on all social media platforms to see all the great things they are up to.
