Welcome back to LIFTING THE LYD! I'm speaking with Smoove of Smoove and Turrell. Hailed as the UK's greatest modern Soul band, with 6 critically acclaimed albums, they've played thousands of shows worldwide including Glastonbury 9 times, racked up millions of streams of their tracks, and stand high with tastemakers like Gilles Petersen, Craig Charles, Lauren Laverne... They’re also proud Northerners, lads after my own heart!
We recorded this last year in a brief lockdown hiatus. They're now kicking off their Stratos Bleu Album Tour which is not to be missed, full details on their socials & website. Chris Barron; Spin Doctors lead singer & co-founder - millions of records sold, toured with Rolling Stones, played Glastonbury
A new year means a new season of LIFTING THE LYD, with our first guest of 2021... Spin Doctors lead singer & co-founder Chris Barron!
The American rock band has sold millions of records, including the hits ‘Two Princes’ and ‘Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong’; toured with the Rolling Stones; played at the likes of Glastonbury and Woodstock; graced Rolling Stone magazine’s cover; played on Dave Letterman and Saturday Night Live... the achievements just go on. The band is still active, releasing music & touring internationally, & Chris is also a solo act, with a new album coming soon!
As someone who used to dance around to Spin Doctors' hits, this was a real pleasure for me - a big thank you to Richard Ilderton (LTL's first ever guest) for the link up!

She’s had 13 books published, written 12 commissioned plays for stage and BBC radio and worked as a writer with pathologists and neuroscientists.
She talks about the highs and random oddness of her very varied career, and about coping with a disabling car crash at the age of 31.
She's also my mum (talk about big shoes to fill...) and we spent a good few months in lockdown together, so I'm thrilled to bring this podcast to you as something positive to come out of a weird few months!
