111: Find Meaning with your Something Larger
There's a lot of research that demonstrates that meaning and purpose - having a sense of meaning for your life- is definitely good for your mental health.
However, this research rarely defines what is "meaning or purpose."
They just ask people if they feel like they have meaning and purpose, and people are like, oh, yeah, I definitely do. Or no, but definitely don’t. And it's a mess.
What I came up with is that when you have meaning in your life, you feel like you are part of something larger than yourself.

107: Not waiting for the New Year (LIVE Class replay)
Not waiting until the New Year (LIVE Class)
Every January the gym exceeds capacity, spinach and kale bags are purchased in record number and anything (books, planners, videos, journals) relating to "goals" are consumed at high volumes, and for what?
By March, gyms are deserted, all the spinach and kale is rotting in the back of the fridge and you have yet another journal, notebook or pile of planners left untouched or never used, alongside those other piles in your life of laundry, clutter or papers you still haven’t organised.
You know why?
Well because January sucks.
And we believe resolutions are the only way to make new habits or achieve our goals and well we’ve always done it this way.
Well how is that working out for you?
Here’s the newsflash, you can do what needs to be done for the betterment of your life and your health and well-being starting today.
It doesn't require an hour long workout, eating only green things or setting goals that are lofty and unimportant in the grand scheme of things.
What is required is for you to:
(1) understand the power of small steps and the control that you have over your life - we call this Tiny Improvements, Superhero Results and
(2) to believe that you are worth the effort it takes to be consistent with what is important and valuable to you.

Why Muscle Matters
If you’re like many women over 40, you’ve probably noticed that it’s become a lot easier to gain a few pounds than to lose them.
The foods that you ate without care in your 20s and 30s now stick to your body like glue, adding bulk to your midsection.
Exercise that you did to lose it in your 20s just doesn’t work in your 40s and well, it is just plain frustrating.
And it seems every week you have a new injury, ache or hurt your knee, shoulder or wrist.
Strong bodies with strong muscles and joints with help prevent disease and falls.
It is scientifically proven that women who strength train over 40 just twice a week are 19% less likely to die from ANY cause than those that do not and 30% less likely to die from heart disease, cancer, stroke or suffer from diabetes or Alzheimers.
And when you focus on building lean muscle you are less likely to break bones, especially hips, if you fall.

87: How to Stop Sabotaging and Reach your Health, Body and Lifestyle goals
Understand how you block your motivation and from taking action on the things you know you NEED to do to reach the things you say that you want.
Use this 3 part process to help you to go from step by step into action.
Where am I stuck? How can I move on?
These are all blocks…
- Perfectionism
- Procrastination
- Belief- your thoughts and inner mean girl
- Overthinking and over-anlaysing
- Grass is greener and keep switching programs or teachings
- Not follow the plan- getting bored or distracted
- Not managing your energy- getting burned out or injured
- Not focusing on the right things- not measuring process
- Hiding or keeping head in sand

Episode 83: Time for a Reset?

Re-claim
Re-ignite
Feeling unmotivated?
You can always start again. You can always change your mind. You are in control of your mind.
Hit the rest button anytime.
If you are feeling a little bit down right now, if you've hit that plateau, it's time to take a pause, - hit that reset button- see where you're really at with your goals. Then give yourself permission to move to that next level.
Whenever I hit a motivation plateau or progress seems to come to a halt , I make up stories too. "I've lost my mojo. I've tried everything and nothing works. Maybe this is not for me, maybe I'm just never going to get into shape."
What you actually need to hear is that 'it’s normal. It's okay and you can totally do this!'.
You can regroup and get started again.
