Having needs does not make you needy

Episode 31: How my client Elisa went from chaos to calm, changed her habits and reclaimed her physical and emotional health and well-being

Just 20 years old, yoga provided Sara with the tools to manage her anxiety attacks and a renewed sense of clarity in her life. By the time Sara graduated from Boston University in 2003, she had already completed her 200 hour teacher training and begun focusing her studies in the Ashtanga Yoga method. Instead of working on Wall Street or applying to law school, the recent college graduate embarked on the journey of entrepreneurship and began freelance work as a yoga teacher. In 2005, Sara made her first trip to Mysore, India to study under Guru Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and deepen her connection to the Ashtanga Yoga lineage. That same year, Sara led her first ever yoga retreat in Montauk, New York. Incredibly inspired by her trip to India, Sara committed to living her passion of helping others heal through yoga in a variety of settings. Over the last 15 years, Sara has transitioned her business model tremendously and now hosts four sold out retreats per year, at local and international venues. She was the consulting director of the Mysore style Ashtanga Yoga program at Absolute Yoga in Woodbury, which was the only traditional Ashtanga program in Nassau county. She now teaches one on one private lessons and never hesitates to work with someone who is faced with serious limitations. After noticing a greater need for spiritual tools to be used off the mat, Sara created two online yoga philosophy courses, using recorded and live content, which allow students to bring yoga off the mat and into their lives 24/7. Sara shows her students that yoga can heal anyone, so long as he or she is willing to do the work with commitment. While many yoga teachers find the entrepreneurial journey intimidating, Sara embraces it as her zone of genius. Teaching yoga is her gift, and growing her own business continues to be part of her spiritual journey. The most crucial part of this journey is to be a perpetual student. Sara continues to make annual trips to India and study at KPJAYI in Mysore, and was awarded with her authorization in 2013. She is honored to preserve the lineage of Ashtanga Yoga with authenticity. As a mother of two young children, one of whom has special needs, Sara is a passionate advocate for empowering those in challenging life circumstances with the ancient wisdom of yoga.

Episode 7 Why self care doesn't work {part 2} and how to embody a new perspective.
In todays episode Lisa dives deeper into what it means to matter in your own life.  She explores what it takes to truly care for you physical body and your emotional well-being.  It's not something you DO but who you're willing to become. I need to talk about the relationship you're having with your body.... This has been a foundational part of my work for years now because YOUR BODY is a direct reflection of how you feel about yourself. Treating your body like an afterthought means you're treating YOURSELF as an afterthought. It is the vehicle you get to DO life in. It lets you experience your 3D world. It is the vessel that allows you to live out your soul's purpose. It lets you see, hear, smell, taste and touch your physical world. It gives you LIFE. If you're feeding it crap If you're not giving it rest If you're not giving it movement If you're feeding it toxic thoughts If you're demanding it work to exhaustion If you're hating on how it looks You destroy it. It will support you until it no longer can. Think about it It's the ultimate co-dependent relationship... You treat your body like crap yet it CONTINUES to show up for you and give you LIFE. Would you stay in a relationship with a person who treated you the way you're treating your body? If you want to live your life with the highest level of performance then HONOUR your most valuable piece of equipment like a Mazarati and not a broken down Chevette. Successful people KNOW that they can only serve at their highest level by making their relationship with their physical body a number ONE priority. REST MOVE EAT TO NOURISH PLAY BE PRESENT TO ALL FIVE SENSES IN THE MOMENT When you fundamentally shift the energy in the "DOING" of these activities you take self-care to a higher level. They are not punishments to create an outcome. Treat your body with the REVERENCE it deserves and you'll get to enjoy life and make an impact on an entirely different level. Episode 5: Behind the scenes emotions of the FFL podcast launch
Hey hey listeners! Yesterday I posted the following over on my social media channels and today I'm sharing how it made me feel and how I'm navigating all of the emotion of putting myself out into the world in this way.  I'm launching my new podcast in a few days and let me just say, it's far from perfect. There's no fancy intro and outro. There's no cool voice over. I don't have show notes. One episode I recorded in my car. This is the foundation of Full Frontal Living™ I don't wait for perfect. I challenge myself to sit in the discomfort of launching something that isn't more polished. I challenge myself to speak when the message wants to come through me and not when I'm sitting perfectly poised in front of my fancy mic. I challenge myself to just speak what's on my mind WITHOUT a script, with some "uhms" mixed in and unedited. For far too many years I waited... and waited... and waited... Waited until the graphics were perfect. Waited until the branding was perfect. Waited until I had the perfect thing to say. Waited for the perfect sales page. Waited for the right time. Do you know what happened? Nothing. I just wasted time and robbed the people who needed to hear my message from finding me. Not anymore. I commit to showing up REGARDLESS of the circumstances. I commit to being there for my audience. I commit to being in integrity with how I live and how I coach. I commit to transparency. I commit to just being me (which is far from perfect). I commit to allowing things to be DONE and figuring out the rest later. Perfection is just a smoke screen we throw up to hide our insecurities and fears. It has NOTHING to do with excellence. My people need me to show up raw because they're craving someone to give them permission to do the same. They're craving freedom from their fears, doubts and judgments. I am launching this for all the high achievers who are being so damn hard on themselves. Successful women who are looking for freedom from doing all the things, freedom from overwhelm, and freedom from their anxiety, doubts and exhaustion. I'm here to preach what physical and emotional wellbeing looks like when you practise it from the inside out. This podcast is for those of us who LOVE what we do but who need to love ourselves more. You can create massive impact while having a healthy relationship with your body, your business and the people you love. We all deserve to have a voice and we all need other voices to guide us towards becoming the best versions of ourselves. I'm excited, nervous and humbled that I to some I will be that voice. Welcome to The Full Frontal Living™ Podcast Episode 1
Hey hey everyone and welcome to episode 1 of  the Full Frontal Living Podcast.  My name is Lisa Carpenter and I’m a master coach, emotional resiliency expert and bestselling Amazon author here to disrupt the conversation about what it means to matter in your own life.     I’ve been a coach for almost 2 decades and during this time I’ve experienced a ton of personal and professional growth and witnessed radical physical and emotional transformations in my clients.  This podcast is a platform for me to share stories, perspectives, insights and even my tear and tantrum moments on how to have a relationship with yourself that will take you from being a burnout high achieving, over do-er, to someone who lives a Full Frontal life that focuses on doing less better and who you are  BEing in the world.   We’re going to stop being human DO-ings and embrace more BEing.    I’m here to disrupt the conversation about self care and look at what this means for you.  Self care isn’t something DO but who you’re willing to become and the behaviours and beliefs you’re willing to embody.  I’m here to talk about why high achievers typically put themselves last and how you can love what you do but love yourself more. This isn’t going to be a conversation about mani’s and pedi’s but a deeper dive into why you’re struggling to matter more in your life.  Why we’ve made doing more, achieving more, working hard and chasing success something we take pride in but rarely celebrate.  I want to have the conversation about why we’re throwing ourselves under the bus physically and emotionally to do the things we love but aren’t stopping to assess if we are loving the things we’re doing and what it’s costing us.  What exactly are we striving for and what if fulfillment can’t be found in another certificate on the wall, the perfect home, weight loss, your next accomplishment, the perfect kids or marriage or the amount of money you have in the bank.  I’m here to call bullshit on all the behaviours you’re stuck in to avoid feeling bad and to try to outrun the unconscious stories you’re telling yourself.  Every habit and behaviour you have is driven by how you think and feel about yourself, however unless you slow down and get curious about what these are and how you’re actually feeling you’re going to continue to feel stuck, exhausted and frustrated.  You’ll keep hating on your body, struggling in your work, wrestling with debt and your money, never feeling like you have enough time, never feeling good enough and swinging back and forth between loving your family and wanting to run far far away.   I’m here to disrupt the status quo and challenge you to see your life differently.
