Bonus | Becoming a Timothy for the Lord’s Recovery (4)
“But in a great house there are not only gold and silver vessels but also wooden and earthen; and some are unto honor, and some unto dishonor. If therefore anyone cleanses himself from these, he will be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, useful to the master, prepared unto every good work.” (2 Tim. 2:20-21)
This week we continue the special series titled, “Becoming a Timothy for the Lord’s Recovery,” with speaking from brother Ron Kangas on the importance of the word vessel. To become a Timothy is not first a question of our usefulness but a question of the kind of vessel we will be. This is message four of six given at a college conference in Tuolumne, California in October 2001.

“For God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power and of love and of sobermindedness.” (2 Tim. 1:7)
This week we continue the special series titled, “Becoming a Timothy for the Lord’s Recovery,” with speaking from brother Ron Kangas on the need for thousands to be raised up as today’s Timothys. This is message two of six given at a college conference in Tuolumne, California in October 2001.

This is message one of six.

The Goal of Our Christian Life (4) | Prayer, Care, Share, Bear
“And the glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, even as We are one; I in them, and You in Me, that they may be perfected into one, that the world may know that You have sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me” (John 17:22-23).
This week we conclude the series titled, “The Goal of Our Christian Life,” with speaking from brother Andrew Yu on having a new beginning for the practice of the church life. This is part four of message six from a conference hosted by the church in New York City in November 2015.

The Goal of Our Christian Life (3) | Perfecting Others
“A person who knows how to work will always seek to perfect others. This does not mean that he does less work. Rather, he works more than the rest of the saints, because most of his work is to perfect the saints. After he has served for three to five years, the saints can do and are doing whatever he can do. This is the way for us to build up the church.” (Witness Lee, The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1958, vol. 1, p. 131, Living Stream Ministry)
This week we continue the series titled, “The Goal of Our Christian Life,” with speaking from brother Andrew Yu on the importance of perfecting others for the Lord’s work. This is part three of message six from a conference hosted by the church in New York City in November 2015.

“Greet the brothers in Laodicea, as well as Nymphas and the church, which is in his house” (Col. 4:15).
“And to Apphia the sister and to Archippus our fellow soldier and to the church, which is in your house” (Philem. 2).

The Goal of Our Christian Life (1) | The World Situation and the Direction of the Lord’s Move
“The Lord is living and purposeful. But what is His ultimate move? To say that the Lord Jesus will come back to clear up things on earth is true… but clearing up things is not His ultimate move… God’s ultimate move is to work Himself—Father, Son, and Spirit—into us and to become our life, that we may live Him out and express Him as His Body, the church.” (Witness Lee, The World Situation and God's Move, p. 324, Living Stream Ministry)
This week we begin a new series titled, “The Goal of Our Christian Life,” with further speaking from brother Andrew Yu on the age of intensification. This is part one of message six from a conference hosted by the church in New York City in November 2015.

The New Revival (3) | Testimonies
In our spiritual experience there is a beginning, a course, and an ending, after which we experience another beginning with another course and another ending. This cycle repeats itself, and each repetition takes us forward. The beginning, course, and ending are a spiritual metabolism. This is also a law of revival. Every new beginning is a new revival and is followed by a course. When the course reaches its fullness, the experiences in that stage come to an end. Then another beginning will ensue with another course and another ending. This is the cycle of revival. (Witness Lee, The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1960, vol. 2, p. 384, Living Stream Ministry)
This week we conclude the series titled, “The New Revival,” with testimonies that followed brother Andrew Yu's speaking. This is part three of message five from a conference hosted by the church in New York City in November 2015.

The New Revival (2) | Waypoints
“If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and are not practicing the truth” (1 John 1:6).
“This Greek verb [for practicing] denotes doing (things) habitually and continually by abiding (in the things); hence, it has the sense of practice. To practice the truth is to live the truth habitually, not merely to do it occasionally.” (Witness Lee, Holy Bible Recovery Version, 1 John 1:6, note 5, Living Stream Ministry)
This week we continue the series titled, “The New Revival,” with speaking from brother Andrew Yu on picking up seven “waypoints” as our new habits. This is part two of message five from a conference hosted by the church in New York City in November 2015.
The original message was spoken with side-by-side English to Chinese translation which was edited out for brevity, thereby affecting the cadence of the speaking. You can find the unedited version at: https://livingtohim.com/2016/02/conference-in-new-york-with-andrew-yu-november-2015/
The New Revival (1) | The Law of Revival
“Eating, drinking, and sleeping cause our physical life to grow. Similarly, our spiritual life grows by eating, drinking, and sleeping, that is, by our being revived. In 2 Corinthians 12:10 the apostle Paul says, ‘I am well pleased in weaknesses...; for when I am weak, then I am powerful.’ Paul knew how…to touch the joy of Christ when he suffered. He also was able to apply the law of revival; hence, he was always being revived.” (Witness Lee, The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1960, vol. 2, p. 398, Living Stream Ministry)
This week we begin a new series titled, “The New Revival,” with speaking from brother Andrew Yu on the law of revival and our habits. This is part one of message five from a conference hosted by the church in New York City in November 2015.

The Age of Intensification (2) | Perfecting Others
“Our work today is to perfect others to do the work themselves. We are not here to work in place of others. Paul produced Timothy as his disciple, and then Timothy committed the work to faithful ones (2 Tim. 2:2). These faithful ones then went out and perfected others. This is the way of our work today.” (Witness Lee, The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1932-1949, vol. 2, pp. 406-407, Living Stream Ministry)
This week we conclude the series titled, "The Age of Intensification," with speaking from brother Andrew Yu on service. In his sharing, he emphasizes that the Lord’s direction in our service today is that we perfect others to function rather than to replace them. This is part two of message four from a conference hosted by the church in New York City in November 2015.
The original message was spoken with side-by-side English to Chinese translation which was edited out for brevity, thereby affecting the cadence of the speaking. You can find the unedited version at: https://livingtohim.com/2016/02/conference-in-new-york-with-andrew-yu-november-2015/
The Age of Intensification (1) | The New Acts of the Apostles
“What is our burden? What is our responsibility? We must not just preach the gospel. We must bear the testimony of Jesus...Our responsibility is to live Christ, to bear a living witness to Him in our daily life, to know nothing but Christ, the all-inclusive One revealed in the completing ministry of Paul and the mending ministry of John.” (Witness Lee, The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1981, vol. 1, p. 354, Living Stream Ministry)
This week we begin a new series titled, "The Age of Intensification," with speaking from brother Andrew Yu on following the Lord in His present move. This is part one of message four from a conference hosted by the church in New York City in November 2015.

This episode was originally aired in January 2021. In this special new year fellowship, brother Minoru Chen shares with us his personal experience and practice of spending a longer period of time with the Lord at the beginning of each new year. During such a time with the Lord, our brother encourages us to practice 6 things: recall, rehearse, reflect, repent, renew, and reset. He also encourages us to gather our family together for a dedicated time in the Lord's presence and reaffirm that our household is for the Lord.
May the Lord gain our fresh consecration as we start this year and begin a new chapter with Him. "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you." - James 4:8a

The Vital Groups (1) | Building up the Body of Christ

Shepherding Words (17) | Quenching the Flaming Darts of the Enemy
Finally, be empowered in the Lord and in the might of His strength. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the stratagems of the devil, For our wrestling is not against blood and flesh but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenlies. Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:10-13.
As believers who love the Lord and who are standing for His testimony, we must not be ignorant of the schemes of God’s enemy in his attacks on the church. In order to help educate and inoculate us against such attacks, the co-workers in North America have released a series of articles on ShepherdingWords.com, which expose the stratagems of the devil.
This week, we have a narration of the article titled “Quenching the Flaming Darts of the Enemy” originally published on February 14, 2022. In order to be part of God’s corporate warrior in Ephesians 6, we must learn how to quench the flaming darts of the enemy, which may come to us directly or through people who are full of their own thoughts and opinions. These darts include temptations, doubts, criticisms, slandering and accusations particularly of leading ones, all with the goal of undermining the building up of the church (Matt. 16:18). As this article explains, we can and must learn to take up the shield of faith to quench these darts (Eph. 6:16) both through our long-term constitution and daily practice of spending time with the Lord first thing in the morning.
May the Lord supply us through this speaking and equip us to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

“Take from among yourselves a heave offering to Jehovah; whoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it” (Exo. 35:5a).
“The children of Israel brought a freewill offering to Jehovah, every man and woman whose heart made them willing to bring for all the work” (Exo. 35:29a).
This week we conclude the series titled, "Taking the Initiative," with speaking from brother Andrew Yu on the function and consecration of every member of the Body, and a testimony from brother Peter Yu. Taking the Initiative (1) | The Truth, the Gospel, the Saints, and the Church
“For the kingdom of the heavens is just like a man about to go abroad, who called his own slaves and delivered to them his possessions. To one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability” (Matt. 25:14-15a).

Living for Jesus a Life that is Simple (3) | Time, Finances, Relationships, and Information
“We should have a budget for our time, our energy, and our finances. When people talk about budgeting, most of them consider only finances. But according to my experience, even our energy has to be budgeted. I know how much strength I have. Every day I can use only a certain amount of strength. Timewise, every week and every day we should set aside some time for the Lord. In budgeting your finances, you should offer up what you have in excess according to the prosperity that the Lord has provided you (Acts 11:29; 1 Cor. 16:2).” (Witness Lee, Messages Given to the Working Saints, pp. 390-392, Living Stream Ministry)
This week we conclude the series titled, "Living for Jesus a Life that is Simple," with speaking from brother Andrew Yu on four practical points concerning our living. This is part three of message one from a conference hosted by the church in New York City in November 2015.

Living for Jesus a Life that is Simple (2) | The God-man Living (2)
“Therefore do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, With what shall we be clothed? For all these things the Gentiles are anxiously seeking. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matt. 6:31-33).

“Always bearing about in the body the putting to death of Jesus that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who are alive are always being delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So then death operates in us, but life in you” (2 Cor. 4:10-12).

“But if the servant plainly says, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free; Then his master shall bring him to God and shall bring him to the door or to the doorpost, and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him forever” (Exo. 21:5-6).

Having a Heart for People (2) | Preserving Our Time with the Lord
“During our time with the Lord, we should not allow any distractions to come in. If someone calls us on the telephone while we are having a time with the Lord, we should have the attitude that since we are fellowshipping with the Lord, we are absent from everything else because we are fully occupied by Him. In order to have a profitable time with the Lord, we must be absent from everything and occupied only by Him.” (Witness Lee, The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1977, vol. 2, pp 158-159, Living Stream Ministry)
This week we continue the series titled, “Having a Heart for People”, with speaking from brother Minoru Chen on guarding, and being freed from distractions during our time with the Lord. This meeting was held in June 2016 in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.

Having a Heart for People (1) | The Need for Training
“Near the end of his life Paul wrote 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus…because he realized from his experience that there was the need for training. The training builds us up in the growth of life, in character, and in dealing with the natural disposition. Strictly speaking, it is not our nature but our disposition that needs to be touched and dealt with.” (Witness Lee, The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1973–1974, vol. 2, pp. 522-525, Living Stream Ministry)
This week we begin a new series titled, “Having a Heart for People,” with speaking from brother Minoru Chen on our need for training and encouragement concerning how we spend our time. This meeting was held in June 2016 in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.

Markers along Our Spiritual Race (4) | Testimonies
“Now I exhort you, brothers: You know the household of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and they have set themselves to minister to the saints; You also be subject to such ones, and to everyone co-working and laboring” (1 Cor. 16:15-16).
This week we conclude the series titled, “Markers along Our Spiritual Race,” with testimonies from brothers and sisters in response to brother Minoru’s speaking. This meeting was held during the 2015 Thanksgiving Day Conference in Jacksonville, Florida.

Markers along Our Spiritual Race (3) | Our Priestly Service
“In order for an Israelite to serve as a priest, he had to be between thirty and fifty years old. This signifies that in order for us to share the responsibility of serving in the testimony of God, we need to be more mature and without deterioration. The Lord Jesus came out to serve at the age of thirty (Luke 3:23). This signifies that according to spiritual reality, He was mature, strong, rich, and able to maintain the testimony of God when He began to minister on the earth.” (Witness Lee, The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1960, vol. 1, p. 84, Living Stream Ministry)
This week we continue the series titled, “Markers along Our Spiritual Race,” with speaking from brother Minoru Chen on ministering to the Lord and to the church during our adult life as working saints. This meeting was held during the 2015 Thanksgiving Day Conference in Jacksonville, Florida.
The video and original recording can be found at:
Markers along Our Spiritual Race (2) | Two Kinds of Numbering
In the book of Numbers, God asked Moses to number His people according to their age. In particular, God charged a specific group of Levites “to do the work of service and the work of bearing burdens in the Tent of Meeting (4:47).” Although these age groups are Old Testament types and not to be applied literally in the New Testament, we can apply their spiritual principles to our experiences in the church life today.
This week we continue the series titled, “Markers along Our Spiritual Race,” with speaking from brother Minoru Chen. This meeting was held during the 2015 Thanksgiving Day Conference in Jacksonville, Florida.

A Man of God Caring for the Church of God (1) | A Young Coworker
Timothy was a young coworker of Paul, who described him as a “man of God” (1 Tim. 6:11) and someone who is “like-souled” with him (Phil. 2:20). Although Timothy was merely a young adult at the time, Paul perfected him and entrusted him with the care of the church and charged him to “fully accomplish [his] ministry” (2 Tim. 4:5).
This week we begin a new series titled, “A Man of God Caring for the Church of God,” with speaking from brother Ron Kangas on how Paul and his young coworker Timothy became a reproduction of Christ as the man of God to care for the church of God. This meeting was held in August 2015 with working saints in Orange County, California.

The Backbone of the Church Life (4) | Helpful Tools
“The working saints are the core group in the church life today. On the one hand, Christ desires to gain you. On the other hand, the world wants to occupy you. Are you going to go after the world? Or are you going to go after Christ? How you choose depends on your valuation of the object chosen” (Witness Lee, Messages Given to the Working Saints, p. 352, Living Stream Ministry).
This week we conclude the series titled, “The Backbone of the Church Life,” with speaking from brother Andrew Yu regarding several practical points for our going on in the church life. This meeting was held during the 2015 International Memorial Day Conference in St. Louis, Missouri.

“If the working brothers and sisters are to be adequately and properly participating in the church life, they need to receive the life supply continuously. What you need is not so much to do something, to learn something, or to bear some burdens. What you need is mainly to receive the life supply” (Witness Lee, Messages Given to the Working Saints, p. 330, Living Stream Ministry).
This week we continue the series titled, “The Backbone of the Church Life,” with brothers and sisters from different localities testifying of their experiences in the church life. This meeting was held during the 2015 International Memorial Day Conference in St. Louis, Missouri.

“In order to meet the Lord’s present need, we must first recall our past experiences and vision. Second, we have to respond to the Lord’s attraction and calling. Third, we have to renew our past commitment and consecration” (Witness Lee, Messages Given to the Working Saints, p. 366, Living Stream Ministry).

Shepherding Words (16) | Assailing the Ground of Oneness (4): Are “House Churches” Biblical?
This week, we have a narration of the article entitled “Assailing the Ground of Oneness (4): Are “House Churches” Biblical?” originally published on December 16, 2019. As “house churches” gain popularity among believers, partly as an alternative to large denominations, we must carefully examine their scriptural basis in the New Testament. Proponents of “house churches” claim that there are New Testament examples of such churches within the cities of Rome, Laodicea and Colossae. This article, however, points out clearly the error of such claims by closely examining each of the scriptural passages, all of which describe how believers met together as local churches (one church in one city) and not as “house churches.” No matter the justification, teaching concerning many house churches in a city divides the Body of Christ and must be repudiated by us for the sake of the oneness among the believers.
May the Lord supply us through this speaking and equip us to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
