In this episode, Lola sits down with Meghan Rauen, CEO and Founder of the Global Gastroschisis Foundation to discuss her life and how she created the organization that now helps people around the world navigate the rare birth defect, Gastroschisis. About 13 years ago, Meghan found out while pregnant that her son had Gastroschisis. In Part 1 she walks us through that experience, the birth and life of her son, and ultimately his heartbreaking passing. In Part 2, she walks us through the humble beginnings of the Global Gastroschisis Foundation when she was asked by her deceased son's surgeon to start an organization for families also navigating life with this rare disease. Long story short, she's created an organization that helps people around the world, and she continues to volunteer her time doing the work, because as she says "it's the right thing to do." Meghan's inspiring story is one of strength and resilience in the face of heartbreak, and it is an honor to share it with you.
