151: 5 Things I'd do if I was just starting my positivity journey
Are you trying to be a more positive person? Here’s what I would do if I was just starting now.
✨Focus on liking and loving myself. I went so long hating things about myself. Hating how I looked in pictures or how I would overreact to things, too controlling. I could go on and on. I didn’t always treat others well because I couldn’t even treat myself well.
✨Actually visualize my dream life. Instead of visualizing I would ignore my dream life! I would see things on TV that were in line with what I wanted and instead of letting myself dream I would skip the channel!
✨Pick one small positive habit to focus on. I started with journaling and affirmations. These helped change me from the inside out. Next, I focused on taking good care of myself one habit at a time: developing a skin care routine, boundaries and embracing my natural curly hair.
✨Practice gratitude daily. Think about it, write it down, talk about it. And remember God gives in Superabundance!
✨See a professional. Your mental health is SO important. I wish I would have reached out to professionals in my 20s vs. waiting until my 30s.

147: How to Really Make Changes in Your Life
How to Really Make Changes in Your Life🚨
🤩 If you’re wondering where to start to introduce positive habits into your life, save this reel.
The firs step is to make taking care of yourself, putting yourself first - NORMAL. This is hard for us moms, I know! But, it’s necessary and possible.
Start small.
Are you sleeping enough?
Can you add more water into your day?
What kind of media are you consuming? Start unfollowing people/pages that don’t make you feel good. Be mindful of the stories you watch.
Who are you spending the most time with? How do you feel around them? Do your friendships and relationships have reciprocity? Are you always the giver? Who can you reach out to for help?
Move your body. You can keep it simple and just walk daily. Move your body to benefit your overall health not just for weight loss reasons. I ignored the high blood pressure readings for a year before I finally did anything about them (that’s a whole other story!)
Start a hobby just for fun.
It’s not easy to do self-care and put yourself first right away. Is it worth it? Yes. Is it life-changing? Yes. Can you do it? Yes, I believe in you. You got this!

140: How would the best version of yourself show up today?
Do you know what’s been on my mental to do list all week? 🧐
Writing out a list of things my future self does. Thinking about how she shows up in the 🌍 and how she reacts to life.
My future self/ the greatest and grandest version of me (as Brandon from @positive_head podcast would say 🥰) is:
✨ patient - slow to anger and slow to judge
✨ motivated - no more sleeping or hiding when feeling overloaded
✨ healthy - takes time for self-care daily, is spiritually connected, eats nutritional foods, takes care of her mental health.
✨ has a clutter free home - clutter is one of the biggest stressors in life 😱
✨ feels good in her body, wears clothing that fits well, takes time to get ready every day, laughs more, can relax easily, doesn’t feel like every moment has to be productive. 👏🏽
Take time to think about your future self today. How can you show up like her? Let's brainstorm together and get that next level you fleshed out!

138: Lessons from A Return to Love
"Self perception determines our behavior if we think we're smaller, limited, inadequate creatures then we tend to behave that way and the energy we radiate reflects those thoughts no matter what we do. If we think we're magnificent creatures with an infinite abundance of love and power to give then we tend to behave that way. Once again the energy around us reflects our state of awareness."
In this episode I share lessons learned from reading the book A Return To Love. This book will help you understand A Course in Miracles. And even if you're not interested in the book A Course in Miracles, A Return to Love will give you a different way to look at the world.
I think we can always make time to view the world from a different perspective.

135: Easy Mindful Practices to Start Today
If you think about it, our modern age can be overwhelming. We are online and available 24/7 with our smartphones. We stress about social media, our jobs, and our family life constantly.
You may be reading this thinking, “I don’t have time to add mindfulness to my day.” Let me tell you though, if you’re thinking you’re too busy to add mindfulness into your life - YOU REALLY NEED IT!
Mindfulness techniques can help stop attack thoughts.
Attack thoughts are when you are living in your head - hashing over the past, re-living all the stupid mistakes you’ve made or re-living how others treated you badly.
Attack thoughts serve no purpose in life. Yesterday is over. We only have this moment. So, attack thoughts need to go. And Mindfulness can help you with evicting those thoughts out of your brain.
Mindfulness can help you make better decisions. Instead of overreacting to stress you can be calmer and more in control of yourself and the situation. Mindfulness can also help decrease the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, high blood pressure and obesity.

132 - 5 Easy ways to communicate better in every day life
After all this time working remotely for a lot of us, I thought we might need to brush up on our communicating skills.
Step 1: Use the other person’s name
People love hearing their name. Using someone’s name helps you remember it and makes the other person feel more comfortable around you. When people hear their name they turn towards whoever is speaking to them. We are programmed since childhood to give attention to someone who is speaking our name.
Tip: When meeting new people try to write their name down as soon as you can. Writing helps you remember the name, ensuring you won’t have an awkward situation where you call someone by the wrong name.

121: Fall Self-care Ideas
Fall is my favorite season of the year and I have so many ideas for cozy self-care ideas. I was raised in Michigan and lived there until my early 20's. Each year I looked forward to the crisp, cool air, the crunchy leaves and the changing colors. Michigan has a beautiful fall season and self-care was as easy as taking a walk around the block.
But, now I live in south Texas. There's not much of a Fall feeling over here. The mornings and days are hot. So, I have to create opportunities to feel the Fall season and today I'm sharing a Fall themed bucket list full of self-care ideas.
I hope you'll take time for yourself this season and participate in as much self-care as you can. Follow along on Instagram and share what you're doing to get some cozy self-care in this season.

120: Is 2020 breaking moms? Making us stronger?
I've lived the hardest days this year as a working mom/virtual mom-teacher/cook/meal-prepper/grocery deliverer/wife/housekeeper/chef/EVERY OTHER ROLE US MOMS HAVE.
The Covid 19 Pandemic added an extra layer of stress topped with a sprinkle of anxiety to overworked moms everywhere. Then virtual learning happened.
The moms I know are exhausted, depressed, tired of being home with the kids and at the same time grateful to have their kids home safe. These moms are pissed when their husband's don't understand that helping out around the house is more than doing 1 load of laundry.
The husband's don't have to put themselves on mute to yell at the kids during a meeting. They don't have to worry about how low their productivity is at work now that the kids are home full time. They don't have to stop working multiple times a day to make meals, clean messes, referee fights or log into Google classrooms.

I know this pandemic has moms everywhere feeling anxiety and feeling run down. So if you feel like that too, please know you're not alone!
