A LIFE FROM WAR ZONE TO PEACE- Sean Jackson THINK EAT FEEL

A LIFE FROM WAR ZONE TO PEACE- Sean Jackson THINK EAT FEEL

Did you know more servicemen in the Australian armed forces have died of suicide than in battle since 2011? 25 Year old Sean Jackson talks on his 6 years as a Corporal serving in the Australian Military. Sean served in Iraq and still occasionally has triggers that bring back episodes of PTSD. I still see Sean professionally, however it was only the other day we realised how far he has come since first entering the clinic with  PTSD, Depression, Social Anxiety, Lumbar Spinal pain, Bilateral shoulder bursitis, Bilateral foot pain and numbness and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Sean  talks on his new outlook on life and what that life looks like after rehab and being a civilian. In this Think Eat Feel podcast you will understand what Sean has done to overcome all his adversities. Now, 2 years on Sean is writing a book, starting his own podcast and working as the local Ranger for the Surf Coast Shire. This is a truly inspiring episode especially if you or someone you know has a mental health condition or served in the armed forces.

PADDLING THROUGH HER CHALLENGES- Wendy Reytjnes/ Wilson. THINK EAT FEEL

PADDLING THROUGH HER CHALLENGES- Wendy Reytjnes/ Wilson. THINK EAT FEEL

This is actually the first podcast recorded for Think Eat Feel which interviewed Wendy Reytjnes (previously Wendy Wilson) just after she decided to retire after the 2019 Molokai Ocean Paddler event in Hawaii.   No other woman has won as many races in ocean paddling than Wendy, Ever.

Residing in Victorian Surf Coast, Wendy  is known to a lot of locals around here not only as a very humble and underrated world champion on the  surf ski  but also  as the woman who would be paddling in the pitch dark in the ocean past bells beach in the coldest day in winter often in 8-10ft swell just so she can fit her training in before heading to work each day.

Wendy, a water women and elite ocean paddler for over 30 years, talks about the many challenges and benefits of her sport. From being one of the first women in competitive surf life saving in Victoria, to juggling water training, strength and conditioning, running her own business, being a Mum, a wife an athlete and managing injuries s all at the same time. We talk about Why she does it and how she fits it all in and what she has learnt about herself along the way.  I though Wendy was the perfect person to be the first interviewee to Think Eat Feel.

Being lucky enough to work with Wendy over the last 18 months i  have found Wendy one of the most inspiring women i have ever met. Not only as an extremely hard working  athlete, as a business woman, a mother, a wife , and i feel i can call her a friend. This is not a long podcast. Although Wendy could have talked on her achievements and vast experience as an athlete, she has kept it humble and concise which makes this a great easy listen on someone who i feel should have a little time in the spot light now she has retired  as i feel we could all take a leaf out of Wendy's book.

* After this podcast was recorded, Wendy decided to compete one more time by qualifying for South African Surf Ski World Championship again and placed: 3rd Women's Open Pro (with only 13 seconds between 2nd and 3rd), and  1st in Senior Women's (over 40). What an effort!  to see her in action: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2628391543862933&id=652800464755394

Wendy has no social media except 'Lily Fine Jewellery' which is her goldsmith business in Torquay. @liliworkshop Instagram.

* Please note, this was actually the first podcast recorded for TEF and due to this the quality is not as high as all others. There is a short break half way through also so you may hear a 10 seconds delay at that point.

Balancing the yin with the yang with Mr Hugh Lee- Yoga Teacher -Trainer. THINK EAT FEEL

Balancing the yin with the yang with Mr Hugh Lee- Yoga Teacher -Trainer. THINK EAT FEEL

In episode 2 we listen to Hugh Lee talk about being injury free which he never thought was possible after 7 months out of the surf due to shoulder injuries.  Learn how to find the 'yin to your yang' and how Yin Yoga and gym based strength and conditioning  were the key to overcoming two decades of clinical depression and 7 months out of the water due to shoulder injuries. A great discussion on balance and what the body can really do for us all! You can find more about Hugh via his Instagram page  @mrhughlee

Broken Back To Surfing Barrels. Think Eat Feel

Broken Back To Surfing Barrels. Think Eat Feel

Hit by a car whilst cycling the Great Ocean Road on new years eve. Steve, a psychiatrist and family man broke 6 spinal vertebrae and attained a mild brain injury.  But Steve had one of the most amazing recoveries I have ever seen. He will humbly credit this to the movement rehabilitation we did but i think it was the initial 3 months of mindfulness and meditation he did that allowed such a great result. Steve tells his story and also his outlook on life now that he is able to look back on his experience.
