Mini-Episode: Wait (Chrisette Michele)

Mini-Episode: Wait (Chrisette Michele)

When you make a request to God, you'll can receive a yes, no, or wait. "Wait" is by far the hardest because we are beings of right now and often lack the patience to allow things (and ourselves) to mature at the level where we are ready for where he called us to be. Trusting God is easy but do you trust God's timing enough to wait? The lesson here is that wait often means "not yet" and while many people assume it means to stay still. Waiting opens up the opportunity for growth and self awareness and direction that you don't get standing the same spot. While you're waiting, look around and see the areas where you may need to mature and stay prepared for the opportunity when it does arrive.

Millions of young adults are too often defined only by their struggles with unemployment, poverty, and crime. Traditionally known as “disenfranchised,” “marginalized,” “disconnected,” and “at risk,” these young people aspire to improve their lives and communities. These young people are typically defined solely by their challenges, not by their potential. They urgently need – and aspire to earn – knowledge, training, and opportunities that lead to long-term professional and personal success.

Mini Episode: Leveling up (Tribute to DMX, Shock G, and Black Rob)

Hey folks, Trevor DeSaussure here from Lyrics and Lattes to bring you another Hot 16. The past week has been hard for hip-hop. We laid DMX to rest, we lost Black Rob, and we lost Shock G. This is just a reminder that tomorrow is not promised. Do what makes you happy now. That all said, today's lyric is coming from Black Rob, from his song, Star in Da Hood. Ain't nun post-traumatic about it, it's just deep. It's like trying to live out in the suburbs and stay street. Every next level of your life will demand a different version of you. It's called growth, but there are some parts of the past that you need to leave behind you. If you're happy being stuck in the same stage of your life, so be it. But I know a lot of you aren't take certain lessons with you. Take certain people with you, but know when you need to make cuts. Growth and maturity are a key part of life. And after a while, the only thing holding you back from success is you. I've had to do a lot of RIP's lately. One final, one to DMX, an RIP to Black Rob, and an RIP Shock G. On behalf of the entire Lyrics and Lattes team, take care of yourselves everybody.

Join us next Monday for our full episode. In the meantime for this episode, we're going to Wale. N****s on they high horse? Cool, I'm investing in gLuUuUuee! Here's the thing folks time and energy are precious. If you're focusing any of those things on someone else and it isn't benefiting you then that's a waste; and the same can be said for anyone doing that to you. Because what they don't see while you're steady building their steady wasting their time, energy, and resources on something that may make them feel good in the moment; but ultimately doesn't get them anywhere. The premise of this lyric is, "Cool, do you." And with that we're out.

Mini-Episode: Raise The Bar (Black Thought)

Mini-Episode: Raise The Bar (Black Thought)

Hey – its Jason Wallace with the lyrics and lattes podcast where we use hip-hop lyrics to inspire you.  Today’s hot 16 mini-episode is called Raise the Bar by Black Thought.

I turned scars to a sense of regard for myself Based on where I set the bar, I made it hard for myselfI lent the hand before my brothers called for my help

Let’s be real, some of y’all are winning because you haven’t set the bar high enough. You keep picking stuff you already know how to do...

Dream bigger - don’t allow the fear of failing stop you from growth. ADD: "Failure is not an option!"...NO failure is inevitable. Its progress. Failure is NOT the opposite of success...it’s on the road to it.

If you’ve never taken an L, your dreams aren’t big enough. Raise the bar til it’s uncomfortable and let that growth make you stronger.

040- Mini Episode: Forgiviness (Tr3demark)

040- Mini Episode: Forgiviness (Tr3demark)

Hey, what up folks? It's Trevor DeSaussure here again to bring you, your Hot 16. This week we're going to local DC artist Tr3demark. The beat's so sick, throw you into convulsion. And please don't trip over whatever's broken. Cuz we so lit. Degrees on the steeze so brisk. Used to let them take the wheel breath stinks to let him take the wheel and now I'm riding in Jesus whiiiiiiiip. Please don't trip over whatever's broken. This week we're going to be talking about forgiveness. Not just forgiving others, but forgiving yourself. Look what happened in the past happened in the past. There's nothing you can do about it. It's already done. You're only human and a good 70% of life is us just messing up. The Bible says he without sin cast the first stone. In the Quran it states let them pardon and overlook. In Hinduism, not only do you need to forgive but you need to seek forgiveness. We figure this out across the world. Live, let, and learn. And become a better version of yourself today than what you were yesterday. And the only way you can do that is by making a couple of mistakes. Hey guys, don't forget to tune in for a full episode every Monday and a mini episode every Thursday. You can find our content all on LyricsandLattes.com and you can reach out to us at lyricsandlattespodcast@gmail.com

How you take hold of today DOES.

034- Mini Episode: Ever Been Overlooked? (King Los)

034- Mini Episode: Ever Been Overlooked? (King Los)

Hey – its Jason Wallace with the lyrics and lattes podcast where we use hip-hop lyrics to inspire you.  Today’s mini-episode is inspired by King Los - Happy Birthday bro.

No villain is stopping this one
That'd be a dark night, won't it?
While overlooking my city, had a Dark Knight moment
I'm overlooking my city, same city that overlooked me
Now it's back to back tours, cause cities just overbook me

Listen, being overlooked has nothing to do with you, your talents, or your abilities. Sometimes, people’s perception of what you’re capable of, is less about you and more about their inability to spot potential. Don’t let somebody’s “you can’t” make you bitter or worse, doubt yourself. Your time is coming - let that criticism push you to greatness. So get uncomfortable, …Learn… Adapt.. and level up. And don’t forget… "Never give up, Never Surrender" - DJ Khaled   “never give up never surrender”... and we out

Maybe you're tired, maybe you're hungry, maybe you're stressed, maybe even you're suffering from depression/anxiety. Being able to pinpoint the "why" is your first step in your everyday battle.

Everybody's an expert nowadays…. I just met a 16yr old life coach. Look, It’s time to normalize being a beginner and having 0 followers… and 30 episodes in I can say the best time to start is when you realize there is no best time to start ….“but I’ll look stupid” Start…. “but I don’t like my voice” start….”I just need to move outta my momma house” STAAART! Action is the only thing that separates the dreamers from the doers and perfection will keep you broke. Stop pretending to be an expert and be comfortable learning, failing, and growing as a novice
