#130 Overcoming Imposter Syndrome Just Like Ilona Maher

#130 Overcoming Imposter Syndrome Just Like Ilona Maher

In this episode, I dive into imposter syndrome, and why I no longer believe in it. Inspired by a viral clip of Olympic rugby player Ilona Maher, I share how building confidence through honesty and growth makes the idea of being a fraud feel irrelevant. I also reflect on a personal story involving my dad and learning the difference between humility and self-belief.

I break down what imposter syndrome is, why it sticks around, and how to overcome it by shifting your mindset, embracing evidence of your progress, and staying honest about your efforts. If you’re growing, you’re not an imposter, you’re evolving. This episode is your nudge to own your worth.

Key Topics Covered:

  • I talked about why I don’t believe in imposter syndrome anymore.

  • I shared a video of Ilona Maher, an athlete who said she never felt like a fraud.

  • I told a personal story about a fight with my dad and how it helped me understand confidence and humility.

  • I explained what imposter syndrome means and how it shows up for people.

  • I broke the definition into four parts: mindset, persistent doubt, honesty, and success evidence.

  • I gave tips on how to change your mindset to stop feeling like a fraud.

  • I talked about how practicing your skills helps build confidence.

  • I reminded listeners that being honest about your progress protects you from feeling like a fake.

  • I talked about accepting good feedback and recognizing your own success.

  • I encouraged listeners to choose just one area to work on and keep going step-by-step.

#129 Social Media Is Now Interest Media - How We Hit Best Seller!

#129 Social Media Is Now Interest Media - How We Hit Best Seller!

I’m so excited to share that Becoming Bossminded is officially out on Amazon, and it even hit bestseller status! This book is for anyone who wants to build a business that works with their life, not against it. It’s full of real stories, practical tools, and lessons I’ve learned the hard way to help you avoid common mistakes and feel less alone on your journey.

Writing this reminded me why I started: to create something real and helpful. I talk about “interest media” vs. just social media, my personal framework for success, and how building your own version of success is possible, and worth it. Thank you to everyone who supported, shared, or believed in this project.

Key Topics Covered:

  • We launched Becoming Bossminded and hit #1 bestseller on Amazon.

  • The book helps people build a business that supports their life, not controls it.

  • I shared stories about unexpected support from friends and community members.

  • Becoming Bossminded is based on a personal framework for making smart decisions.

  • I reflected on how I never saw myself as an author, but writing books has helped me reach people.

  • I explained the difference between social media and what I now call “interest media.”

  • I plan to show up more online, especially with video content and Facebook reels.

  • The five-part framework includes: desire more, define the cost, find the edge, define success, and take your seat!

  • I want to create content that actually helps people, not just fills up their feed.

  • Building a business is hard, but when we connect through honest stories and shared purpose, it gets easier.

#127 Are You The Lady At Church? Let’s Apply The Becoming Bossminded Framework

#127 Are You The Lady At Church? Let’s Apply The Becoming Bossminded Framework

In this episode of Your Loving Kick In the Pants, I shared two stories, one about a woman who gave up on her business, and another who was pitching the wrong way. Both reminded me how easy it is to lose focus in business. That’s why I created the Becoming Boss Minded framework, to help women move forward with clarity and purpose.

I walked through five steps: desire more, define the cost, find your edge, create your version of success, and take your seat. I shared real examples and announced my new book Becoming Boss Minded, coming May 22nd. If you’re ready to grow your business without losing what matters most, this one’s for you.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Why I see so many women start a business and then give up

  • A real story of someone who gave up, and how I responded

  • Why pivoting your business can work (if done the right way)

  • How the Boss Minded Framework compares to my Accountability Code

  • Step 1: Desire More – I asked, “What do I really want?”

  • Step 2: Define the Cost – I looked at what it takes vs. what it costs to stay stuck

  • Step 3: Find the Edge – I shared how I stretch past my comfort zone

  • Step 4: Create My Version of Success – I talked about how I define wins on my terms

  • Step 5: Take My Seat – I claimed my space and invited others to do the same

  • I announced the release of my new book Becoming Boss Minded and how to get early access

#125 Feedback Includes The Art Of Saying No: Becoming Bossminded Book Preview

#125 Feedback Includes The Art Of Saying No: Becoming Bossminded Book Preview

In this episode, I talked about the sixth step of the Accountability Code—feedback, which is all about using past experiences to make better choices moving forward. I shared a personal story from my upcoming book Becoming Boss Minded called The Art of Saying No, where I learned the hard way that helping too much can lead to burnout. I explained how saying yes too often, even with good intentions, can hurt your mental health and relationships. This story helped me see how important it is to set boundaries and focus on what really matters.

I introduced a step-by-step method called the Six Ps to help you feel more confident when saying no. These steps help you protect your time, energy, and peace of mind so you can grow without overwhelming yourself. I also reminded listeners that feedback doesn’t always come right away, it often shows up after the fact, and that’s okay. What matters is learning from it and doing better next time. I hope my story inspires you to reflect on your own past experiences and use them to build a healthier, more balanced future.

Key Topics Covered:

  • What feedback really means and why it’s important

  • A personal story about feeling overwhelmed while trying to help family

  • How burnout can sneak up when you say yes too often

  • The danger of letting others' expectations define you

  • How a tough moment became a turning point for change

  • Why clear boundaries are necessary for growth and peace

  • The impact of miscommunication and emotional stress

  • Introducing the Six Ps method to confidently say no

  • How faith and prayer support better decision-making

  • Encouragement to reflect, learn, and grow from past feedback

#124 Commitment: Becoming Bossminded (The book is coming!)

#124 Commitment: Becoming Bossminded (The book is coming!)

In this episode, I talked about the fifth step of the accountability code, commitment—and how it’s different from just taking action or implementing ideas. Implementing is when you practice or try something, like brainstorming or writing, but commitment is when you actually finish the task and can prove it’s done. I shared how one of my clients struggled with staying consistent on social media after a group challenge ended, and we realized that making a plan isn’t enough, you have to commit to following through.

I also gave some personal examples from my journey, like my commitment to finishing my book Becoming Boss Minded. I talked about setting solid goals, breaking them into smaller checkpoints, and using tools like Trello to track progress. One big tip I shared is to tell others about your commitments, it helps with accountability. In the end, commitment is what turns our dreams into real things we can see, share, and be proud of.

Key Topics Covered:

  • The difference between implementing and commitment

  • Why taking action isn’t always the same as finishing something

  • A client’s struggle with consistent social media posting

  • How group support impacts follow-through

  • The power of sharing commitments with others

  • Using tools like Trello to track and organize goals

  • Real-life example: writing and publishing a book

  • How commitments build confidence over time

  • Importance of setting small, realistic commitment items

  • The role of accurate, clear goals in accountability

#123 Implementing Means Progress Over Perfection!

#123 Implementing Means Progress Over Perfection!

In this episode, I talked about implementing, the fourth step of the Accountability Code. It comes after reflection, humility, and planning. Implementing means taking action on what matters to you, even if it's not perfect. Many people make plans but never follow through, so I reminded everyone to just start, even if it’s messy.

I also shared a personal story about learning to share responsibilities at home. I couldn’t do it all myself, so my family and I divided up the tasks. It wasn’t easy, but it made a big difference. The real takeaway? Just try. Progress matters more than perfection.

Key Topics Covered:

  • What implementing means in the Accountability Code

  • Why people often don’t follow through on their plans

  • How taking small steps can help you start

  • The difference between thinking about something and actually doing it

  • When to slow down if you’re doing too much too fast

  • How to align your plans with what you really want

  • A personal story about dividing chores and tasks at home

  • How to talk with your family about shared responsibilities

  • Why letting go of control can help you grow

  • The idea that implementing is an ongoing process, not a one-time thing

#122 Planning Can Happen On Your Own Timeline

#122 Planning Can Happen On Your Own Timeline

In this episode, I talked about planning as the third step in the Accountability Code, right after reflection and humility. Planning isn’t just writing stuff down, it’s about creating a meaningful roadmap that actually helps you succeed. I shared how putting “tennis friends” on my vision board led to real friendships just by showing up and being open.

I also broke down different types of planning, yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly, and daily, and how each one helps in life and business. I use Trello to keep my 90-day goals organized and plan out content. For daily planning, I use my own method based on the Accountability Code, and I’m turning it into a book soon! Overall, planning gives you the clarity and confidence to follow through on what matters most.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Why planning is the third step in the Accountability Code

  • How planning without reflection and humility can lead to failure

  • The different ways to make a plan (yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly, daily)

  • Using vision boards to clarify your big goals

  • A personal story about making tennis friends through intentional planning

  • Why quarterly planning helps in business, especially with taxes and events

  • How I use Trello to stay organized with events and marketing

  • Monthly planning for email and social media content

  • Daily planning using my personal system (brain dump, prayer, prioritizing tasks)

  • Turning my daily planning system into a book to help others stay on track

#121 Humility Is Practicing Honesty (2nd Step Of The Code) With Elora Hill

#121 Humility Is Practicing Honesty (2nd Step Of The Code) With Elora Hill

In this podcast, Elora Hill reflects on her journey with humility, sharing how negative past experiences at a toxic workplace made her initially resistant to feedback. The Accountability Accelerator program helped her shift her mindset, viewing humility as honest self-awareness rather than weakness. Now, as a mom, Elora focuses on what she can do within her limited time, reducing stress and working with more intention. This transformation has renewed her excitement for her business, knowing she can make a meaningful impact.

Elora also discusses her business, Fireside Journals, which blends scripture study, journaling, and creativity to help people connect with their faith. Embracing her doubts as opportunities for growth, she has found deeper meaning and now helps others do the same. Her journey shows that humility isn’t about staying stuck, but accepting where you are while striving for improvement, both in business and life. Through this process, Elora has gained clarity and a renewed sense of purpose that benefits both herself and her family.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Elora's past struggles with humility and accepting feedback.

  • Overcoming the pain of past job experiences that made humility challenging.

  • The shift in perspective on humility: viewing it as accepting one's current limitations without shame.

  • Balancing family life and business, especially when limited on time.

  • How humility helps in setting realistic goals and expectations.

  • The role of humility in Elora’s transformation and business growth.

  • The impact of accountability programs like the Accelerator on personal growth.

#120 Reflection Is The First Step To Taking Action!

#120 Reflection Is The First Step To Taking Action!

In this episode, I talk about the role of reflection in the accountability code, sharing a personal story from my book, Doubt Yourself No More. I reflect on trying out for cheerleading in high school, initially to prove a point, but later realizing how reflection evolves when you take action. I explain that reflection is about thinking through your goals, values, and challenges, and as you act on them, your reflection changes, helping you grow and build confidence. This process helps you become more accountable and stay focused on your goals.

I emphasize that true growth comes from taking action and not giving up, even when things get tough. I encourage you to pay attention to what’s taking up your mental energy and use it as a sign to take action. The episode ends with me promoting my free audiobook and workbook on the accountability code, inviting you to dive deeper into applying these principles in your own life.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Reflection as part of the accountability code.

  • Personal story of trying out for cheerleading.

  • The evolution of reflection through action.

  • The difference between thinking about goals and acting on them.

  • Reflection helps build confidence.

  • Importance of commitment and not quitting.

  • Mental energy as an indicator to take action.

  • The role of reflection in overcoming self-doubt.

  • The value of accountability in personal and professional life.

  • Promotion of the free audiobook and workbook on accountability.

#119 How To Declare Your Commitment To Your 8 Week Goal

#119 How To Declare Your Commitment To Your 8 Week Goal

In this episode, I share how to set a clear eight-week goal using the Accountability Code, a framework designed to help you take action. Many people struggle with defining their focus, so I walk through six key steps: reflection (identifying your goal), humility (recognizing what’s holding you back), planning (creating a roadmap), implementing (taking action), commitment (declaring your goal), and feedback (evaluating progress). The Accountability Accelerator provides structure and support to help participants stay on track, but even if you're not in the program, you can still apply these steps to make real progress.

The key to success is taking action and staying accountable. Whether you want to launch a business, write a book, or improve your relationships, the process remains the same. If you don’t commit, you risk staying stuck in the cycle of "what ifs." Over the next eight weeks, I’ll be sharing success stories from my clients to show what’s possible when you follow through. So, set your commitment declaration, stay consistent, and watch how much progress you can make!

Key Topics Covered:

  • What the Accountability Accelerator is and why it’s important

  • How to define a clear eight-week goal

  • Why it’s normal to feel uncertain about your big goal

  • The six steps of the Accountability Code (Reflection, Humility, Planning, Implementing, Commitment, Feedback)

  • The importance of a commitment declaration

  • How weekly feedback sessions help keep you on track

  • Real-life examples of clients’ goals (selling a retreat, publishing a book)

  • How accountability leads to massive progress

  • The difference between taking action vs. staying stagnant

  • Encouragement to set a big goal and commit, even if you're not in the program

#118 Webinar Cliff Notes! How to Accelerate Your Accountability!

#118 Webinar Cliff Notes! How to Accelerate Your Accountability!

In this episode, I talked about accountability and why traditional plans don’t always work. I shared personal experiences, like writing my book and learning to adjust plans to fit my own needs. I also highlighted stories from my clients, like Kim, who successfully hosted events by adapting the accountability code, and Susan, who realized she needed to trust herself more to improve her business. The key takeaway is that being accountable isn’t about following a rigid plan, it’s about adjusting and taking action in a way that works for you.

I also discussed why waiting for the "perfect time" to take action is dangerous. Many people, like my client Ashley, hold back due to fear, but delaying only makes it harder. Ashley was hesitant to quit her job, but when she finally took the leap, she tripled her income in three weeks. The right support system makes accountability easier, and I encourage everyone to start taking action now. When you listen to your own instincts and commit to progress, you can create real change in your life.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Importance of accountability in personal growth

  • Why traditional planning doesn’t always work

  • Adapting plans to fit your own needs

  • Story of Kim and her success with event planning

  • Story of Susan and her shift from affiliate sales to coaching

  • The role of self-trust in accountability

  • Why waiting for the "perfect time" is harmful

  • Ashley’s journey from fear to tripling her income

  • The power of a supportive community in taking action

  • How small daily actions lead to big changes

#117 You’re Waking Up Too Much

#117 You’re Waking Up Too Much

In this episode, I talk about the downside of "waking up too much"—overthinking, overanalyzing, and consuming too much information without taking action. Just like showing up too much can be unbalanced, constantly planning and reflecting without implementing can keep us stuck. I share examples of how this happens and explain that real growth comes when we take action, even if it’s imperfect.

I also emphasize the importance of setting boundaries on information intake and recognizing when it's time to shift from thinking to doing. Using personal stories and listener experiences, I show how honesty helps break free from analysis paralysis. The key takeaway is that finding balance between waking up and showing up leads to progress and peace. I invite listeners to join my Accountability Accelerator to start taking action on their goals.

Key Topics Covered:

  • The problem with overthinking and overanalyzing

  • How too much reflection can stop progress

  • The balance between waking up (planning) and showing up (doing)

  • The dangers of consuming too much information

  • Why self-doubt makes us feel "not ready"

  • Setting boundaries on what information we take in

  • A listener’s realization about wasting time on TV

  • How honesty helps break analysis paralysis

  • My personal struggle with procrastination

  • An invitation to take action with the Accountability Accelerator

#116 You’re Showing Up Too Much

In this episode of Your Loving Kick in the Pants, I dive into the difference between waking up and showing up. Lately, I’ve been networking and seeing firsthand how people take action when they truly understand accountability. But I’ve also noticed that many people overdo one side—either constantly staying busy and overwhelmed or spending too much time thinking without acting. If you’re exhausted and struggling to keep up, you might be showing up too much and neglecting reflection. True balance comes from recognizing what tasks actually belong to you and what you can let go of.

I share a personal story about letting go of control, using my household’s dishes as an example. By asking my husband to take over, I realized how difficult it is to step back, but also how necessary it is. I break down the importance of delegating, setting up systems, and giving yourself permission to rest. If you’re stuck in a cycle of doing too much, start by identifying what only you can do, find what can be delegated, and allow yourself to step back without guilt. Realigning isn’t failing—it’s making sure you don’t burn out before you get where you want to be.

Key Topics Covered:

  • The difference between waking up and showing up

  • Recognizing burnout and imbalance

  • How networking reinforced the power of accountability

  • The importance of reflection, humility, and planning

  • Letting go of control and delegating tasks

  • Personal story about household chores and mental load

  • Understanding the difference between responsibility and control

#114 Nervous Excitement Towards A Goal Is A GREAT Thing! Here’s What To Do With It

In this episode, I talk about the mix of nervousness and excitement that comes with growth, especially in business. As I prepare for a big speaking event, I reflect on how these feelings are a sign of change and progress. I encourage my listeners to embrace them rather than avoid them. Through my Accountability Accelerator, I help people push past fear by setting goals and having someone hold them accountable, which can be both scary and motivating.

I also share three steps to turn nervous excitement into action: reflect on past experiences, set a “5:55 alarm” as a reminder to take action, and find accountability to stay on track. I remind listeners that if they’re feeling nervous and excited, they’re exactly where they need to be. Growth happens outside our comfort zones, and I’m here to support them in that journey.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Preparing for a big speaking event

  • The link between nervousness and excitement

  • How fear signals business growth

  • The “5:55” method for taking action

#112 5 Day Community To Cash Challenge

#112 5 Day Community To Cash Challenge

In this episode, I talk about the Community to Cash Challenge, a five-day program I created to help people grow their engagement and make money, even in other people's communities. You don’t need your own audience to succeed. I’ve personally made six figures using free social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, and the challenge teaches simple marketing principles to help you do the same. For just $27, you’ll get lifetime access to tools like a KPI tracker, an engagement guide, and social media templates to make posting and connecting easier.

The challenge includes five steps: joining a community, connecting with others, clearly communicating your goals, asking for engagement, and making a low-cost offer. I’ve also added bonuses for completing the challenge, like a headline generator, social media shoutouts, and strategy calls to keep you motivated and growing. If you finish in five days, you can unlock extra rewards like free advertising and a $500 coupon for my advanced program. This challenge is all about taking action, learning what works, and building relationships that help your business grow.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Overview of the Community to Cash Challenge.

  • How to make money in other people’s communities.

  • Simple marketing principles for any platform or group.

#110 Hand In The Sand Mentality Leads To Increased Fulfillment

#110 Hand In The Sand Mentality Leads To Increased Fulfillment

In this episode, I share how being on a cruise ship has given me the space to focus on writing my book, Becoming Boss Minded. Surrounded by other marketers, I’ve been reminded how easy it is to feel pressured to do everything people suggest for success. Instead, I reflect on a lesson from my mentor called "hand in the sand," which is about focusing on a few key priorities and letting go of the rest.

I discuss how taking on too many goals, especially ones that don’t align with your values, leads to burnout and failure. By narrowing your focus and saying no to distractions, you can be more productive and at peace. I’ve embraced this mindset to avoid FOMO and stay on track, and I encourage listeners to do the same by prioritizing what truly matters to them.

Topics Covered in this episode:

  • Writing a book while on a distraction-free cruise.
  • The pressure to follow others' advice for success.
  • "Hand in the sand" mindset for focusing on priorities.
  • The dangers of taking on too many goals.
  • How saying no helps avoid burnout.
  • Overcoming FOMO and staying focused.
  • The mental and emotional benefits of narrowing your focus.
  • Encouragement to prioritize what aligns with your values.

#102 Raise Your Prices! Here’s How!

#102 Raise Your Prices! Here’s How!

In this episode, I discuss raising your prices with confidence. Many hesitate to increase prices due to doubt or justification worries. I share insights from my boss-minded group: you don’t need to explain your prices, confidence is key. Regular price increases and client feedback can help build assurance. I share my journey of raising my program price from $750 to $3,000, driven by results and feedback.

Other tips include not apologizing for price changes, avoiding seasonal timing pitfalls, and aligning prices with your worth. While marketing price increases can attract clients, do so authentically to avoid seeming desperate. Even a 4% increase is reasonable due to inflation. Trust your value and align prices with your work quality.

Topics covered in this episode:

  • Confidence in pricing

  • Justifying prices without explanations

  • Using feedback for improvement

  • Planning regular price increases

  • Personal story of raising program prices

In this podcast episode, I shared the exciting launch of my website, http://bossminded.com, which offers information about the Boss Minded community, including retreats, events, freebies, and my book.

#98 Introducing Bossminded - Making huge changes to the Lady Boss Community and Here's Why

In this episode, I announce major changes in my business, specifically the rebranding of my group from Lady Bosses to Boss Minded. After nearly four years of building this community, I realized the name posed trademark issues and didn't fully reflect the empowered mindset of the women involved. This new name protects my brand and emphasizes taking control of one's business and life.

Being "boss minded" is about making bold choices and fostering a supportive community where women can learn and overcome challenges together. I express my excitement for future retreats and events, and I’m grateful for the support I’ve received. Together, we can navigate the tough side of business while uplifting one another.

#97 Prepare, Prepare, Prepare, and then Trust

#97 Prepare, Prepare, Prepare, and then Trust

In this episode, I discussed my pride in attending a client’s ribbon-cutting event for her new boutique. I also reflected on recent challenges, including a virus, a friend's funeral in Utah, and the devastation from Hurricane Helene. Despite these hardships, I’m grateful that my family and home were safe, and I contemplated survivor's guilt and the lack of control we have over life’s events.

I emphasized the importance of helping others when we’re in a better position to do so. Observing the contrast between people seeking assistance and my client’s celebration reminded me that while hard work is vital, it’s not always enough in the face of uncontrollable circumstances. It's essential to appreciate our blessings and be ready to support those in need.

Topics covered in this episode:

  • Attending a client’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.

  • Overcoming a virus and attending a funeral in Utah.

  • The devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.

#95 How to Grow in Business and Friendships at the Same Time

#95 How to Grow in Business and Friendships at the Same Time

In this episode, I discussed the importance of building friendships in business. Having friends keeps you motivated and supports you during tough times. While extroverts may find it easier to make friends, maintaining those connections takes effort.

Business friendships create a positive environment, as I’ve seen at my retreats. I shared three tips for nurturing these relationships: follow up with past connections, invite others to join experiences, and offer support, even in small ways. Ultimately, having a few close friends who share your values enriches your business journey.

Topics covered in this episode:

  • The importance of friendships in business.
  • How friendships fill your emotional "love tank."
  • Extroverts versus introverts in making and keeping friends.
  • Sharing personal experiences of friendships formed at retreats.
  • The value of following up with past connections.
  • Inviting others to join in your business experiences.
  • Supporting friends by giving encouragement and showing care.
  • The importance of shared values in building lasting friendships.
  • Nurturing relationships for personal and business growth.
  • How to maintain a few strong, supportive friendships instead of needing a large group.

I also talk about identifying negative cycles and how accountability, both to ourselves and others, helps break them and create lasting peace.

The takeaway: you deserve happiness and the ability to steer your life in the right direction.

Topics covered in this episode:

  • Connection between inner peace and accountability.
  • Using feedback to recognize when we’re off track.
  • Story of my car's alignment issues as a metaphor.
  • Importance of external and internal checks in life.
