The 2pm check up, is where I will be recording and sharing a video at approximately 2pm each day to see where I am at both mentally and physically. It is the midpoint of the day, so even if it is not going so well, there is always an opportunity for things to get better.
I am trying to raise awareness about mental health issues by starting a conversation about it. There is no shame in admitting that you need help sometimes.

Objectively Subjective

Objectively Subjective

Over the centuries philosophers and scientists alike have attempted to solve or at least to some extent explain how the mind and the body are connected. I contend that we should stop looking for an objective measure in relation to consciousness and the human experience and instead start trying to develop better methods of subjective data collection. We are so obsessed with measuring everything and comparing everyone in an attempt to define what is normal – but what if there is no normal when it comes to the mind and our own individual consciousnesses and human experiences.

Until we can find a reliable method to subjectively measure the mind – and I mean reliable, then I believe that the mind-body problem will remain unsolved and a contentious issue well into the future.

The 2pm Check up (28.04) - checking in on your mental health

Here is today's 2pm check up, where I will be recording and sharing a video at approximately 2pm each day to see where I am at both mentally and physically. It is the midpoint of the day, so even if it is not going so well, there is always an opportunity for things to get better. As a viewer, you can also take this opportunity to assess your day and see if you can make a difference. You still have at least 8 hours before it's time for bed!! I am trying to raise awareness about mental health issues by starting a conversation about it. There is no shame in admitting that you need help sometimes.

Here is today's 2pm Check up. Having been making these videos for the past week, I have started to see a pattern with my intrusive and negative thoughts and ruminations. It just shows how being more mindful and aware of your mental health can really make a difference!!

20.04.22: Today's 2pm Check up is a little earlier due to my work schedule. The main goal for today is to practice mindfulness at work and do my best not to ruminate on the negatives.

First day back at university and the responsibility of being a good coach! The first half of my day has been a struggle, but I still have 8 hours to get going and have an impact 🙂

Socially Minded

Socially Minded

In this episode I introduce my new project Socially Minded, where we will be starting the conversation about mental health. The brain has 86 billion neurons, continually making and breaking connections - therefore, no two brains are the same - so why do mental health professionals attempt to categorise and model mental illness, instead of embracing neurodiversity and treating the individual? The time has come for change!!!
