The fact that our mental illness does not give us the right to perpetrate DV on anyone. Ever.

The science speaks for itself... 'While some people with schizophrenia may engage in violent behaviors, this is often linked to other factors, such as substance misuse, a history of violence, or inadequate treatment.'Living with Schizophrenia does not make that person a danger to others.

Here is my first livestream! We discuss how hard and medication change can be. Let me know what you think.

Mark Brosnan is a broadcaster, public speaker and author on the lived experience of Living with Mental Illness. His podcast, STP Shattered the Podcast was viewed over 100,000 times in 2022.

In 2006, after 18 years working with people with disabilities, a series of assaults in the workplace caused Mark to suffer a breakdown and be diagnosed with CPTSD. Years into his recovery Mark shifted careers to Broadcasting. He worked as a professional radio presenter for 5 years.

In that time, he interviewed over 500, world renowned celebrities, musicians, politicians, activists and public figures.

For the last 2 years Mark has written, produced and hosted STP Shattered the Podcast. His book, Shattered the Book was also published in 2022.

In that time, he has also worked with an organisation called Mental Illness Education ACT (MIEACT) sharing his lived experienced story. MIEACT delivers evidence-informed programs, partnered with lived experience stories that increase mental health literacy, promote early intervention, reduce stigma and emphasise recovery.

Mark has spoken at over 200 schools, universities, workplaces- including the AFP police academy- in his time at MIEACT.

In 2022 Mark was honoured to be one of the ambassadors for Mental health Month ACT.

In 2023 mark was voted a finalist in the Westfield local hero program.

The goal of STP is to normalise the conversations around mental illness and to assure people that life after/through mental illness is possible. About me Mark Brosnan is a broadcaster, public speaker and author on the lived experience of Living with Mental Illness. His podcast, STP Shattered the Podcast was viewed over 100,000 times in 2022. In 2006, after 18 years working with people with disabilities, a series of assaults in the workplace caused Mark to suffer a breakdown and be diagnosed with CPTSD. Years into his recovery Mark shifted careers to Broadcasting. He worked as a professional radio presenter for 5 years. In that time, he interviewed over 500, world renowned celebrities, musicians, politicians, activists and public figures. For the last 2 years Mark has written, produced and hosted STP Shattered the Podcast. His book, Shattered the Book was also published in 2022. In that time, he has also worked with an organization called Mental Illness Education ACT (MIEACT) sharing his lived experienced story. MIEACT delivers evidence-informed programs, partnered with lived experience stories that increase mental health literacy, promote early intervention, reduce stigma and emphasize recovery. Suicide is NEVER the best option | Shattered The Podcast [STP]

I've stood over a hospital bed looking at my daughter - who'd attempted suicide - not knowing if she was going to live.

She did. But to this day the pain of that event will not go away. I think about it pretty much every day.

I can't even imagine what my life would be like if she had succeeded. I don't know that I would have been able to recover from that.

The message that I want to get to people contemplating suicide, is that it's Iso easy to be focused on yourself.

My daughter tried to kill herself | Shattered The Podcast [STP]

STP is about helping people.

STP is about having conversations that are uncomfortable to have.

The topic today is the most uncomfortable conversation I can have at this time.

I'm going to share my journey through my daughter's suicide attempt to help someone else understand that there is hope on the other side and that somebody else has been through exactly what you've been through.

I am fortunate that my daughter survived her attempt. I can't even imagine what would have happened if she had have succeeded.

Veteran suicide- the new epidemic (and what you can do about it) | Shattered The Podcast [STP]

We've lost more veterans to suicide than died in the entire Middle East conflict.

Why is why is there no public outcry about this.

The men and women that have taken their lives since serving in the Middle East are victims of that war.

Do you know a veteran are you related to a veteran.

Have you ever spoken to them about their service?

Most veterans want to tell you, at least, some of what they experienced overseas but they assume that you don't want to know and that worse you don't care.

If you know and love a veteran reach out to them. Ask them about their service. It's the least we can do.
