My Naked Truth Series: Persistent & Consistent
It’s reasonable to believe that the reason you and I haven’t had the success we wanted in years prior is we don’t have the habits essential to fostering success, and when we started this year we implemented some very ambitious objectives driving us in that direction, bu to our surprise, our old habits came creeping back in, procrastination, distractions, oversleeping, lack of focus, to name a few. These will continue to haunt us both unless we decide enough is enough.
Something I just learned recently as regards dieting: that people start the year with the objective of going to the gym five days a week without building the muscles for such radical change, instead of setting the goal to do once per week or 10 minutes per day. The analogy made was that people want to sit in the CEO chair on day one without knowing where the mailroom is. Maybe we should start smaller, maybe today we should set the goal to work with less distractions, work five minutes longer, work to complete a to-do list, build success momentum and increase our productivity from there.
Like many, I still haven’t found my groove, even at 34 . You’d figure doing this thing called life for so long you’d have it figured out, but in my case it’s taking a bit longer than the 19 year old me expected. How’s it going for you?
What are you aiming to be better at today? Which one of those bad habits are you overcoming? Just be greater than you were before, that’s it. Have a good day.
