VMGR Memorial
Since 1962, Marine KC-130 aircrew have flown millions of miles and flight hours. They have performed their missions magnificently around the globe in peace and in war. During this time, eight KC-130 crews, along with their passengers have made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. But there is no memorial acknowledging this service and sacrifice. This PODCAST will discuss the proposed VMGR memorial from a unique perspective. You will hear from the creator, Mr. Johnathan Keene; the driving force behind the Memorial, the Marine Corps Air Transport Association, Jacob Cobb; two spouses who lost their husbands in incidents, Sherry Kevianne and Jennifer Herrman; and what the Memorial will mean to the current KC-130 community, LtCol Courtney O'Brien, Commanding Officer of VMGR-352.

Richard Starr Act with LtCol Mark Belinsky Ret. (Military Officers Association of America) & Jeremy Villanueva (Wounded Warrior Project)
Maj. Richard Star, USAR, an Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran who spent his final months fighting for servicemember benefits while also fighting stage 4 lung cancer, has died. Star, a combat engineer, passed away early Saturday morning with his loving wife Tonya and his therapy dog Otis at his side.
Medically retired before reaching 20 years, Star was a vocal advocate for legislation to approve concurrent receipt. He was a “Chapter 61 retiree,” a servicemember who is forced to medically retire from injury on duty. These retirees are not authorized for concurrent receipt, which means receiving retirement pay from DoD for their service, while also receiving disability pay from the VA to compensate for injury.
A bill named in his honor could change that.
