He is an Associate Director at 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗼 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗱, an Associate Fellow at 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗺 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 (The Royal Institute of International Affairs), and a Non-Resident Scholar at the 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 in Washington. Karim is also the Founder and Coordinator of 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻, an advocacy initiative promoting sustainability in cities of the Middle East and North Africa, through research and communication.
Karim's interests include urban sustainability and resilience, climate policy, and energy transition. His current work focuses on the Middle East and North Africa region, especially around the Eastern Mediterranean and the Gulf, but his two decades of experience also span Europe, North America, and sub-Saharan Africa.
Karim has written tens of articles and publications. He has been invited to over one hundred public speaking engagements and has delivered guest lectures at some of the world's leading universities. He is regularly interviewed and quoted by TV, print and digital media, and has appeared in most mainstream media outlets.

Biography : Dr. Alexandre Hedjazi has received a doctoral degree in Urban Planning from University of Grenoble in France and a Ph.D from School of Public Affairs – University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Hedjazi's started his research career on the financing of urban infrastructures and Public-Private Governance which contributed to the final document of OECD's Conference for Partnership in the XXI Century. In 1997, Dr. Hedjazi joined UCLA to conduct research on regional development and security where among many courses and seminars he lectured on Regionalization and Energy Security at the UCLA Global Studies program. Since joining the University of Geneva in 2007, he has taught many courses on comparative politics, and organized multiple seminar series on the Caspian Sea, Regionalization and Urban development bringing scholars and practitioner to explore and discuss the nexus of development, security and the environment. Bridging his academic research and his knowledge of Central Asia and the Caucasus, his latest work concerns the impact of emerging economic and political insecurities on regional cooperation and development.

Joerg has lived and worked in the Silicon Valley, Cambridge (UK), and Berlin, Germany, clusters known for their entrepreneurial approach. This experience has shaped his dedication to the support of sustainable innovations.
He is also co-founder and program chair of the Arts & Nature Social Club, a members' club whose mission it is to sensitize leaders to planetary challenges. Other roles were at Cambridge University’s Judge Business School and Santa Clara University’s Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship.

Biography of Gunay Bayramova :
Gunay Bayramova is the head of the Tourism Industry and Project Management Division at the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan. After earning her PhD degree in Political Science from the University of Sheffield, she fully devoted herself to improving public policy making process in her home country. In parallel, she contributes to improving human resources in the tourism sector by sharing her professional experience with students of Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University. Her prior experience includes project coordination at the Ministry of Energy, local consultancy for ADB (CAREC programme) and World Bank projects.
In her capacity as a tourism policymaker, Gunay places a significant emphasis on fostering sustainable tourism development in Azerbaijan, among other responsibilities. She has earned a Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism from the GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course and received a Recognition of Achievement for completing the course on Sustainable Tourism Destination Management from Cornell University in 2023. Gunay has led a team to develop the Sustainable Tourism Development Action Plan for 2024 at State Tourism Agency/ She will now concentrate all efforts on the successful implementation of the plan in the upcoming year.

Dr. Stephen J. Blank is Senior Fellow at FPRI’s Eurasia Program. He has published over 900 articles and monographs on Soviet/Russian, U.S., Asian, and European military and foreign policies, testified frequently before Congress on Russia, China, and Central Asia, consulted for the Central Intelligence Agency, major think tanks and foundations, chaired major international conferences in the U.S. and in Florence; Prague; and London, and has been a commentator on foreign affairs in the media in the U.S. and abroad. He has also advised major corporations on investing in Russia and is a consultant for the Gerson Lehrmann Group. He has published or edited 15 books, most recently Russo-Chinese Energy Relations: Politics in Command (London: Global Markets Briefing, 2006). He has also published Natural Allies? Regional Security in Asia and Prospects for Indo-American Strategic Cooperation (Carlisle, PA: Strategic Studies Institute, U.S. Army War College, 2005). He completed a book entitled Light From the East: Russia’s Quest for Great Power Status in Asia published in 2014 by Ashgate. Dr. Blank is also the author of The Sorcerer as Apprentice: Stalin’s Commissariat of Nationalities (Greenwood, 1994); and the co-editor of The Soviet Military and the Future (Greenwood, 1992).

Entre 1051-1073, la reine de France Anne de Kyiv, a vécu à Senlis. Elle était la fille de Yaroslav le Sage, roi de l’Ukraine et d’ Ingigerd de Suède. A Senlis, Anne de Kyiv fonda l’Abbaye Saint-Vincent, qui a survécu jusqu’à nos jours. L’ancienne Abbaye abritant aujourd’hui un lycée.

Short bio of Özlem Uzman :
Özlem is the co-founder and chairperson of EGET Foundation.
She studied English literature at Boğaziçi University, which ranks among Türkiye’s top universities. After graduation, she attended the 'International Management Certificate Program' at İstanbul University.
After having several years of work experience, she decided to do an MBA (masters of business administration) in the USA, beginning her studies at Troy State University, Alabama, and then transferring to Auburn University, Alabama. Unfortunately, some family issues prevented her from finishing her degree and she returned home.
She has work experiences as a manager in product management and marketing in many sectors such as it, aviation, construction, textiles. After acquiring more experience in business development, marketing, planning, management and import/export, she set up her own business in 2004, creating her own hosiery brand ‘BLISS’ and then a gift shop brand ‘EVCILIK’.
In 2013, she left her long time home in Istanbul , where had resided foe 26 years, and moved to Gökova/Muğla to set up the EGET Foundation.

Born in Denmark, he is a resident of Japan for 31 years.
Peter David has worked on business and sustainability in Japan since 1995.
He set up one of the countries first, dedicated sustainability consultancies,
E-Square Inc., in 2000, running the company as CEO until 2011.
Presently, he wears three hats - one as co-founder of the non-profit,
NELIS (Next Leaders' Initiative for Sustainability), a global network aiming to
connect, inspire and empower nextgen sustainability leaders;
a second as professor of sustainability and innovation at a 5-year old
business school in Tokyo, Shizenkan University; and a third as independent
director of two listed, Japanese companies, Meiji Holdings and Marui Group.
His greatest passion is for the empowerment of an emerging generation of social
innovators and sustainability practitioners across the globe.

He occupied assistant professor positions at Grenoble Alpes university (France), at UAEU (EAU), at Sousse university (Tunisia), at Mevlana university (Turkey) and at ULB (Belgium). He worked for industrial corporations in R&D at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and Institute for Infocomm Research, Image Processing and Applications Lab of Singapore. He was an invited researcher at Leibniz-Fachhochschule School of Business (Germany) and Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (Portugal).
His current research interests include Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning and Deep Learning. He is a Program Chair in various global conferences and serves as a reviewer for relevant journals and conferences in the Artificial Intelligence field. Means data base : MEANS (Matching Excess And Needs for Stability) Database is an online platform connecting those with excess food, like grocery stores, co-ops, and restaurants, with nearby emergency food providers who serve those in need. Our organization has two major goals: to reduce food waste and reroute that food to feed people facing food insecurity. MEANS has been working in the anti-hunger space for six years and has adapted to meet the needs of clients and those in need remotely during this unprecedented time.
Bio : Saoussen Mahjoub, also known as Suzy, is the Development Director at MEANS Database, a food recovery anti-food insecurity non profit based in the US.
Previously, Suzy held the role of Chief Communications Officer at iCompass, an Artificial Intelligence/NLP startup focused on African Languages and Arabic dialects. She was in charge of communications, fundraising, and preparing for the next phase of iCompass’ growth and expansion in Africa and the Middle East.
Prior to that, Suzy was an Advisor in Multicultural Marketing and Business Development with ALSAC, the fundraising organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
In 2011, she co-founded the Tunisian American Young Professionals (TAYP); a DC-based diaspora non-profit that promotes economic ties, cooperation and exchanges between Tunisia and the United States.
Suzy holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Virginia (USA), with a concentration in Economics of the European Union (EU) and China, and a master’s degree in EU International Relations and Diplomacy from the College of Europe in Brugge (Belgium).

Felix Iziomoh is the Founder of Bee-Flex Consultancy Ltd. He is passionate in providing sustainable solutions to individuals, private and corporate organizations by helping them achieve their goals faster than they can imagine. He is passionately optimistic that challenges in individuals and organizations can be solved through engaging, connecting, and networking with heart-centered social visionaries and conscious change makers. The dearth of huge leadership capital in individuals and organizations motivated him to establish the International Centre for Leadership Development Nigeria, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering next generation leaders. His over 9 years of experience cut across capacity building, leadership development, Goal Mapping, Career development, facilitation and social entrepreneurship.
He is part of NELIS – Next Leaders' Initiative for Sustainability – NELIS Japan, an International network of professionals working on sustainability solutions to various humanity challenges.
He has keen interest in the environment especially in circular systems / resources and climate change. Felix spearheads the 4Revolutions (4Revs) initiative of NELIS as the Program Manager Africa.
Felix is also the co-convener of the NextGen Sustainable Waste Management Challenge, which aims to empower a new generation of problem solvers to find and implement innovative solutions to the environmental challenges associated with excessive plastic waste.

Tanya Shea, President, People of Ukraine Foundation, USA
Bio : Tetyana Shea grew up in Kyiv, Ukraine in a military family. Her father is a combat veteran, went to war in Afghanistan, and served as a Chernobyl nuclear disaster rescue participant. Tetyana graduated from Taras Shevchenko Pedagogical College with a bachelor’s degree and worked as a teacher in Ukraine. She later worked at the “Partnership for Peace” Coordination Center, General Staff of Ukraine. Twenty years ago she moved to the US, and graduated from George Mason University with a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. After working as a teacher in Fairfax County, Mrs. Shea went abroad and supported the diplomatic missions and served as the President of the Attaché Spouses Association. After the Revolution of Dignity in 2016, Tetyana founded a non-profit People of Ukraine Foundation and manages charitable humanitarian educational projects and programs. Tetyana actively engages with civil society, non- governmental, and business organizations across Ukraine and the United States. In 2019 she established Hire Veterans of Ukraine Initiative and implemented English and Computer Classes Program for Ukrainian veterans and families to support the improvement of their professional qualifications. Tetyana published an article “Hire Combat Veterans of Ukraine Initiative” in the Business Ukraine Magazine (Spring 2021). Last year, People of Ukraine Foundation held the very first US-Ukraine Veteran Startup Exchange Forum. Tetyana was awarded the Presidential Order of
Merit of Ukraine by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on December 2021.

Bio : Working at the highest level, Julia Lagahuzère was previously Deputy Casting Director of Opéra National de Paris in the two theatres of Opéra de Bastille and Palais Garnier. She is currently artistic consultant to the Queen Sonja International Music Competition in Oslo, Norway. Julia has a passion for finding and helping to nurture young talent, and established a concert series in order to strengthen relations between the QSIMC and the top international young artist programs; notably in collaboration with the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
She has previously worked at the San Francisco Opera, Scottish Opera and Opéra de Limoges. She is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and Sussex University, a musicology scholarship recipient at the University of California, Berkeley, and holds a Masters degree in Opera and Visual Performing Arts from King’s College London, in collaboration with the BBC Proms.

For her analytical objectivity and effort in support to the Italian diplomacy in Turkey, in 2017 she was awarded as Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia by the Presidency of the Republic of Italy. AKP tra conservatorismo e riformismo (Castelvecchi, 2018) has been listed among the best current politics essays of the year 2018 and got a special prize in the Italian award Cerruglio 2019.

Bio : Ismahane is a lecturer at Sciences and Technology University of Bab Ezzouar, Algiers (Algeria) since December 2011. She prepared a thesis in earth Sciences; the aim of the subject is to characterize gold deposit in the southern part of Algeria. She is a member at the Laboratory magmatism and metallogeny of Algeria and a lecturer at USTHB University. She is also member of SGA (Society for Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits), and co-organizer of the SGA-IUGS-SEG-UNESCO Short Course on African Metallogeny
Before joining the university, she worked as a design engineer at the ORGM (office de recherche en géologie minière) during the period 2006-2008 and as an engineer and project manager at the geological survey of Algeria between 2008 and 2011.
She has participated in several international seminars, congress and workshops in order to enrich her knowledge in mining exploration and identify new methods of analysis in minerals and rocks like petrology, mineralogy and geochemistry.

Biographie: Fahda Barrak
Diplômée de l’Ecole Nationale d’Architecture et d’Urbanisme de Tunis, (Fahda Barrak) a débuté sa carrière d’architecte aux Emirats Arabes, dans une société de construction de bâtimentet de construction navale Intermass.
Suite à cette expérience elle a pu s’associer un groupe d’architectes et fonder avec eux la société internationale DRAWLINK.
Son parcours a Drawlink a été très riche en termes de projets et de défis, en effet étant un pilier de cette société, Fahda Barrakétait responsable du département du design ainsi que le département FF&E, qui concerne la recherche et le ressourcement des nouveaux matériaux et nouvelles techniques de construction. (bureau de Drawlink à Guanzhou, Chine de 2013 à 2016 )
En 2018, Barrak décide de se lancer dans une aventure différente, elle a fondé sa propre société de Design fbDESIGNSTYLE, ou elle a pu travailler sur des projets de réaménagement et de conception d’intérieur tout en se concentrant sur la recherche et la réflexion sur les limites de ce qu’on appelle architecture durable, quant aux choix des matériaux.
Fahda Barrak réside actuellement entre Dubaï et Tunis et ce depuis une année, à la recherche de nouveaux horizons.

Daphné Martin was born and raised in France by her French parents. When she was 14, her father was sent to China by his company. She continued her education at the Lycée Français de Shanghai in the economics and sociology section and graduated with honors in 2018. From 2019-21, she studied Chinese at Donghua University, achieving a B2 level.
During her studies, Daphné also worked for a year in a branding agency (centdegrés) as a marketing and event manager, but also in a French association for young entrepreneurs called JEF (Jeunes Entrepreneurs Francophones) as a communication volunteer. She also tutored French to Chinese children for 2 years.
In 2021, she decided to move back to France and major in Global Communications at ISCOM Paris.

Karen has a long career in Art History and Architecture. She did her university studies in Bonn and Hamburg and did her doctoral dissertation in 1987 on Le Corbusier; she obtained a scholarship to study at the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte in München, was later scientific coordinator for a Art History seminar at Hamburg University, and was later entrusted with the makeover/renovation/restoration and director/curator of the Warburg Haus. She conducted years of research studies in both Paris and the United States. In 1997 she obtained her professorship/Habilitation, and taught courses from 1998-2002 at Jena, Halle und Berlin (HU) Universities . In 2000, she founded the „Agentur für KunstVerstand“ in Hamburg, Germany.

Bio of Ambassador Samad:
Omar Samad is a nonresident senior fellow with the Atlantic Council’s South Asia Center. He is also the founder and president of Silkroad Consulting, LLC. Prior to joining the Atlantic Council, Samad was a senior Afghan expert in-residence with the Center for Conflict Management at the US Institute of Peace from January 2012 to January 2013. He also served as Ambassador of Afghanistan to France from 2009 to 2011 and Ambassador to Canada from 2004 to 2009.
Samad was the former spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul and Director General, Information and Media Divisions from 2001 to 2004. He also served as an advisor and speech-writer to the foreign minister, and as a member of the ministry’s reform committee.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s he advocated for freedom and democracy in Afghanistan. As founder of the Afghanistan Information Center, in 1996 he launched Azadi Afghan Radio and its website based in Virginia. He has been a contributor to Afghan and international media since the 1980s and has published in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Afghanistan.
He is a founding member and advisor to the online platform Afghan Analytica, a member of the US-Afghan Women’s Council, on the advisory boards of The Kitson, the Fletcher School’s MENASA advisory group, the Afghan Higher Education Student e-Mentoring Program, and Initiative to Educate Afghan Women.
Samad holds an MA in International Affairs from Tufts University. He is fluent in English, French, and Dari-Farsi, and proficient in Pashto.
