For professional development, I decided to read the book How to Survive Change You Didn't Ask For- Bounce Back, Find Calm in Chaos, and Reinvent Yourself by M.J Ryan. Originally, I had started out reading the book with the mindset of learning how to navigate difficult challenges live presents during my teaching career, but as I read through the book, I had just thought it was a reiteration of the idea or Resilience. The concept of Resilience is brought up in the book- M.J Ryan claims that people are more Resilient than they think. Thinking about resilience, I asked myself, what role does resilience play in Education and how can I teach my students resilience? I interviewed my former Education Professor, Shannon Brown, from the College of Dupage, and I have received a very meaningful response and thought about teaching in ways I did not before.
