Coffee Time with Sid Rosenberg

Coffee Time with Sid Rosenberg

Source: https://wabcradio.com/sid-rosenberg/

Sid Rosenberg joined 77 WABC in 2016 where he teamed up with Bernie McGuirk to launch the “Bernie & Sid” show 10AM-Noon.  He started his radio career on “The Drive,” heard strictly on the Internet at SportsLineUSA.com. The show eventually moved on to terrestrial radio and was syndicated nationally in more than 40 markets by SportsFan and Westwood One. Sid also co-hosted the NFL Today pre-game show heard nationally on Westwood One for three seasons. After two years on national radio, Sid took his act to New York City, where he co-hosted “The Sports Guys,” heard mornings on legendary radio station WNEW-FM 102.7.

In 2001, Sid realized his dream by landing a job at the nation's premier sports-talk radio station, WFAN in New York City where he hosted midday’s with Jody McDonald and later, with Joe Benigno.  Sid also did sports on the “Imus in the Morning” program through 2005. While at WFAN, he hosted the New York Football Giants pre-game show for three seasons.

In November 2005, Sid relocated to South Florida and was heard on 790 The Ticket. He hosted middays before moving into the morning-drive slot. In March 2009 he moved over to another Miami, Florida station (WQAM-560 AM), as the midday host before eventually taking over the afternoon drive shift.  While at WQAM, Sid was also heard on the Miami Dolphins post-game show for the Dolphins Radio Network.

Shortly after the debut of the “Bernie & Sid” show on WABC, Sid would rejoin the “Imus in the Morning” cast to once again provide sports reports and remained a part of the Imus in the Morning cast until the show’s end in March of 2018.

On April 2, 2018, Sid and his midday partner, Bernie joined forces again to host the morning drive with the launch of “Bernie & Sid in the Morning” on 77 WABC.  In September of that same year, WABC launched “Sid Sports Sunday,” a weekly sports talk program (Sundays: 9 AM-11 AM) where Sid gives his listeners his unique take on the local New York teams along with what’s happening on the national sports scene.  Each and every week, Sid not only interviews some of the biggest names in sports and sports media but he also opens up the phones to find out what's on the minds of some very passionate sports listeners.

Avanlee Care for the Elder and Dr. Christopher Kerr

Avanlee Care for the Elder and Dr. Christopher Kerr

Avanlee Care for the Elder

Born and raised in Montana, Avanlee developed the nationally available Avanlee Care app to fill a void that once existed in her life.

When Avanlee turned 10, her grandfather fell ill. For the next eight years, she watched as her grandmother, her parents, and her aunts and uncles all helped care for him. In 2008, her grandfather passed away.

Avanlee decided that there had to be a better way to care for someone like this but the technology was not yet in place. And so Avanlee the app was born. Today she continues to use the app to stay closer and support her Grandmother, Barb.

The Avanlee app exists for families struggling to care for a family member in need while juggling their own family, career, and time. This all-in-one solution aids the children of aging adults by offering a comprehensive set of tools to help provide better community and care for families.

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Chris earned his MD as well as a Ph.D. in Neurobiology. Alongside direct patient care, Chris’s focus is in the areas of leadership and patient advocacy. His passion is palliative care, with the belief that such care should be delivered throughout the continuum of illness. Chris has overseen the integration and expansion of palliative care into hospitals and developed a large home-based program for both adults and children. He has lectured and published on innovative program models designed to better align patient/family services to the complexity of needs inherent to advanced illness.

He has an undergraduate degree in Psychology, a Doctorate of Medicine, a Ph.D. in Neurobiology, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Rochester. Although medically ignored, these near-universal experiences often provide comfort and meaning and insight into the life led and the death anticipated. To date, the research team at Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo has published multiple studies on this topic and documented over 1,500 end-of-life events, many of which are videotaped.

This work was the subject of Chris’s TEDx Buffalo Talk, which has been viewed approximately 3 million times and has been the subject of reports on BBC and in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, Scientific American Mind, Huffington Post, and Psychology Today. It is currently featured on Netflix, called “Surviving Death.” Dr. Kerr’s work is also published by Penguin Random House, in a book titled “Death Is But a Dream,” out now in multiple languages.

The Man, The Myth, The Legend Jackie ”The Joke Man” Martling

The Man, The Myth, The Legend Jackie ”The Joke Man” Martling

For eighteen years (1983-2001) a fixture of radio & television’s Howard Stern Show, comedian Jackie “The Joke Man” Martling was born and raised in East Norwich, a tiny hamlet on the glorious North Shore of Long Island, New York. He graduated in 1966 from Oyster Bay High School and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University in 1971.

As he was accumulating the world’s most extensive collection of jokes, Jackie toiled in the music business until abandoning it in 1979, saying farewell to his beloved trio “The Off Hour Rockers,” to give his punch lines a shot on the not-yet-existent Long Island comedy stages.

To promote Long Island’s first comedy show that he and fellow fledgling comedian Richie Minervini partnered in producing at the bar-restaurant “Cinnamon” in Huntington, Long Island, in March 1979, he created a dirty joke line, “Use Your Finger! Dial (516) 922-WINE!,” which has been in uninterrupted operation since 1979 [516-922-9463]. The jokes worked. Jackie released three self-produced comedy lp’s, 1979’s “What Did You Expect?,” 1980’s “Goin’ Ape!,” and 1981’s “Normal People Are People You Don’t Know That Well” on his own label, OHR Records. In 1982, after founding “Governor’s Comedy Shop” in Levittown on Long Island and touring as a national headliner, on a suggestion from a Washington DC comedy club owner, he blindly sent his three LP’s to Howard Stern upon Howard’s arrival at WNBC-AM in New York City. Howard called him to make a guest appearance on his radio show. In 1986, Jackie became a full-time cast member and the head writer of Stern’s show, and as they say, the rest is history. Remarkable radio as well as show business history. Jackie left the Stern show in 2001 after a fifteen-year run as head writer of the radio show, four television series, and three Pay-Per-Views. He’s released six dirty joke CD’s … “The Joke Man,” “Sgt. Pecker,” “Hot Dogs & Donuts,” Come Again?!,” F. jackie,” and “snart,” as well as three videos, five joke books and countless joke gadgets of all kinds, for children as well as adults. If you’d like to receive jokes via e-mail, you can get on The JokeLand E-Mail List by simply e-mailing Jackie:

He Tweets a joke every day at 4:20 pm… you can follow him on Twitter, @jackiemartling … In 2006 he released a CD of his original music entitled “Happy Endings,” that he co-produced with guitar legend Frank Vignola.

From 2007-2014, Jackie wrote and performed his own radio show on SiriusXM Satellite Radio, “Jackie’s Joke Hunt,” and he wrote the joke page for Penthouse magazine for 17 years. Jackie is featured in the red-hot comedy documentary, “The Aristocrats,” over a dozen other independent films, and has appeared on many television shows. He still works all around the country performing his solo act of rapid-fire filthy jokes and the classic finale, “Stump The Joke Man.” and guests on many of the top national radio shows and podcasts.

Paranormal Experience with Susan Slaughter

Paranormal Experience with Susan Slaughter

Paranormal Experience with Susan Slaughter on the Melissa Billie Clark Show - Making a Difference

My story starts in my home town in Miami where I discovered my appetite for mystery, adventure, and paranormal. I wasn’t raised traditionally. My mother, who is Nicaraguan, married my father who is German/Wiccan but insisted I be baptized Catholic under her strict faith. She later remarried a Buddhist Pilot/ Survivalist from France when I was only in elementary school. Needless to say, I grew up knowing and learning a lot about different religious and cultural backgrounds from a tender age. It’s important to give these bits of information about myself so you can understand how I was groomed to be a spiritually aware and adventurous child that bled into every aspect of who I am today. I had my first paranormal experience when I was about 5 or 6, hiked the Appalachian Trail when I was 11, studied zoology and herpetology when I was 13-15 and joined the League of Paranormal Investigators when I was 19. By age 19 I had traveled to Nicaragua, Costa Rica, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Belgium, and The Netherlands. Traveling is in my blood! I have since been to a load of other countries, which leads me to my next paragraph.

Most people know of my expertise through my stint on the Ghost Hunters franchise. On Ghost Hunters Academy, thousands applied, 8 were chosen to compete, I won. I won a spot on whichever Ghost Hunters show I wanted to be on. I obviously chose to go International. Even though I knew it wouldn’t have the longevity of the famous domestic team, I had to go where I could see and discover the rest of the world. I’ve investigated in over 30 countries with GHI. I’ve gone spelunking in wet cave systems 2 miles underground to discover Mayan treasures left behind almost 3,000 years ago. Discovered hidden rooms containing secret WW2 documents in a Ukrainian castle. Uncovered lost tombs of members of The Knight’s Templar in secret tunnels under the Danube River in Serbia. I have even repelled into a recently excavated Incan temple in the Andes to discover an alien stone that resonated vibrations on its own! Honestly, I could die tomorrow without any regret.

I’m not just some “on-camera talent” that is into ghosts and mystery when the cameras are rolling. I have been actively pursuing the paranormal field off-camera, fueled by my own inquiring mind and finances. I have been investigating with teams all over the US, speaking at conventions, universities, and events on paranormal subjects. I’m a founding member of an independent paranormal outlet called The Dark Zone online where I’ve written/directed/produced/hosted my own series. I even have an excerpt I wrote on possessions in a German paranormal journal on (obviously) paranormal phenomena. I’ve been featured on shows like The Nerdist’s Bizarre States, Dread Central’s Brain Waves, and in books like Haunted By History. Currently, I review footage of paranormal phenomena for a series on TRVL channel called Paranormal Caught On Camera and have been stretching my acting chops in a few indie horror features that have been featured in film festivals and theaters worldwide. When I’m not investigating the paranormal I spend my time reading up on esoteric subjects and magick and curate a music/film event known as SlaughterHaus.

One on One with Peter Marc Jacobson

One on One with Peter Marc Jacobson

One on One with Peter Marc Jacobson on the Melissa Billie Clark Show - Making a Difference

Executive Producer, Writer, Director, Actor, Singer. Peter started his career in front of the camera, guest-starring in such memorable series as Murphy Brown, Beverly Hills 90210, The Facts of Life, Dynasty, Too Close for Comfort, Booker, Matlock, and some not so memorable ones that locked in his medical insurance. He also appeared in the films Spread, Movers and Shakers, GORP, and other noteworthy epics. Peter went on to win the Drama-Logue Award as best actor for his portrayal of Danny Zuko in a Los Angeles production of GREASE. After fifteen years of unsold pilots, SAG dues, and psychotherapy bills, he and his Encino therapist decided it would be healthier for Peter to go behind the camera. So he did. He and his then-wife, Fran Drescher, created, wrote and executive produced The Nanny for CBS for six years, making it one of the most sought after series in television syndication. He had a good shrink!

Peter went on to co-write The Nanny Animated Christmas Special, Oye to the World, and the Chatter Box. He wrote the CBS pilot DIVA and executive produced, wrote, and created CCPD, a pilot for FOX with Dan Aykroyd and co-created Charmed Lives for Embassy, with Eve Brandstein. He then executive produced the Paramount film Beautician and the Beast and wrote the Disney film Mama Mia along with Frank Lombardi, which got him a really nice place by the beach.

When The Nanny left the airwaves, Peter moved back to his hometown, New York City. But not Flushing this time — Tribeca! He got a really sweet loft, but on a low floor with no view. While in New York, Peter and writing partner Michael Scalisi wrote the Film Who I Did On My Summer Vacation, which was set to go starring Scarlett Johansson, but when the German economy went down the tube, so did the money for Scarlett.

Instead of slitting his wrist, Peter went back to his television roots and created, produced, and wrote, with Nick Scotti, the cult reality series New York Nick for E!’s Style Network. But Hollywood called again (and honestly the winters in New York were brutal). So Peter sold his loft and moved to the Hills of Beverly, well Sunset. He found a house that is so beautiful that it was used for a season of Bobby Flay’s Food Channel show. Which paid the mortgage during the writers strike.

He was directing a couple of episodes of the Joey Lawrence sitcom Run of the House when Caryn Lucas offered him a job as Co-Executive Producer of WB’s What I Like About You, where he remained for two seasons and directed several episodes. Peter then directed Hope and Faith, Rita Rocks, and the Web Series Tease.

Eric Thatcher, Michael Lollo & Marisol Crespo

Eric Thatcher
Hello. My name is Eric Thatcher, and I am 38 years old. I am the youngest of four (4) children (3 boys and one girl) born to David & Roseann and have lived in Coventry, Rhode Island all of my life. As a youngster growing up in the country, I enjoyed all of the things that any boy my age would including fishing, dirt bike riding, and visiting car shows with my family. However, at the age of 11, my immune system began breaking down, and I started experiencing many painful illnesses. After several lengthy hospitalizations, doctors at Children’s Hospital in Boston diagnosed me as suffering from Crohn’s Disease. Despite high doses of medications to treat the symptoms, my flare-ups grew increasingly worse, resulting in additional hospitalizations and missed schools day. I spent much of my middle school years and high school being tutored both at home and in the hospital. In the late 1990’s surgeons at Children’s Hospital removed my large intestine a section at a time. I was given a “temporary” colectomy, which but was assured that once things settled down in my stomach that it would be reversed. It was reversed about a year later though, as I became sicker, they had to perform another colectomy surgically. Not long after, I began to experience a painful medical condition on my buttocks known as fistulas, which required additional surgeries and treatment with mega doses of prednisone that caused me to develop a classic “moon face,” not to mention horrible mood swings. Doctors were forced to eventually remove most of my small intestine along with my anus muscles, assuring that I would have a colostomy bag for the rest of my life. I had what is referred to as “short gut” and watched my weight drop from 175 to 116 lbs. Which for someone 5’11,” tall is not a healthy site. In 2013 I became so severely underweight doctors were forced to place me on TPN, which was feed via a mechanical pump for up to 8 hours a day. After several years of being on TPN, doctors wanted an image taken of my liver, which can be affected by prolonged use of TPN. The image showed a spot on my left kidney that turned out to be a cancerous tumor, and in 2015 surgeons at Brigham & Woman’s Hosp. removed most of the left kidney. Later that same year, my gallbladder died and was removed. In 2016 I underwent a double intestinal transplant at Mt. Sinai Hospital in N.Y. and was told that within six years, I might need a kidney transplant. Two months later, I began experiencing kidney failure.

Guests Alex Shumaker & Ami Dolenz on the Melissa Billie Clark Show

Ami Dolenz:

Ami was born January 8, 1969 at 7:05 am, in Burbank California. Her parents brought her home the next day. Micky’s mother, Janelle Scott, was there to help the new parents.

In 1980, Ami, her mother and grandmother moved back to their townhouse. Ami attended a private school nearby, and made lots of friends, many of them remain her friends today.

Her parents arranged for Ami to talk about acting with a friend of theirs, who was in the business. The friend spent two hours with Ami, talking to her about how difficult it is to get an agent, how hard it is just to get an appointment, and how many she would have to see, with no guarantee she would be signed-up by anyone. Ami left with a list of agents to contact.

She was also a co-star in many other films, including: “Can’t buy me love”, “Faith”, Rescue Me”, and several horror films, such as: “Children of the night”, Ticks”, Witchboard II”, and Pumpkinhead II”. On the lighter side, is “Stepmonster”, a very cute movie about a kid that is sure his stepmother is a monster.

“Miracle Beach” is the movie most often mentioned by her fans as their favorite. She still has the genie costume from the movie.

Alex Shumaker:

Alex Shumaker was born May 16, 2006, he resides in Punxsutawney, PA.

Alex was interested in Classic Rock bands such as Journey, Foreigner, Reo Speed Wagon and Styx since age 4.

While most 5 years were headed to the Toy section at Walmart Alex would ask to go to “look” at the CD’s. On February 10, 2012 while browsing the CD’s Alex found a DVD of the band Journey with their new lead singer Arnel. Alex became fixated on drummer Deen Castronovo, he went and got an exercise ball and put it in front of the TV and grabbed some kitchen utensils for his make shift drum set. He watched the video over and over again and broke every kitchen utensil his parents had so when his dad came home from work he cut a pair of plastic coat hangers for him to use.

That evening Alex’s mom posted a picture of his drum “kit” on Facebook with the heading “you gotta do what you gotta do when your parents won’t buy you a drum set!” The phone soon rang and it was Alex’s Nana wanting to speak with him. His parents weren’t all that thrilled when he started screaming “Nana and Papa are buying me a real drum set on Saturday”. Alex received that little drum kit and played it for hours on end, at least 3-4 hours a day watching the Journey DVD over and over trying copy Deen’s every move.

Every time Alex went to Walmart he got a CD. One day another DVD appeared, this time it was the band Foreigner with then drummer Brian Tichy. Alex became obsessed with Tichy’s theatrics of stick throwing/bouncing.

After a few months of playing Alex’s parents enrolled him in drum lessons once a week with teacher Brian Rowan with whom he is still under the instruction of.

To date along with Castronovo and Tichy the most influential drummers for Alex have been: Todd Sucherman of Styx, Brian Hitt of Reo Speedwagon, Chris Fraizer of Foreigner, Peter Criss of Kiss, John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, Neil Peart of Rush, Sean Fuller of Florida Georgia Line and Rich Redmond of Jason Aldean, Lucky Lerner of the Circle Jerks, Glen Sobel of Alice Cooper, and Troy Luccketta of Tesla to mention a few.
