Let's Talk Miami

By Miami Talks Politics

Tired of the lack of coverage in local elections and the bias in reporting in politics, our host Camila, hopes to bring to light local issues through a non-partisan approach. We're seeking the truth and talking about the real issues that plague our community and nation, and what role we can play in solving them. The main one is just by being informed and engaging in our community, whether it be by voting if you are eligible, completing the census or doing some community service.

Abandoned Lots in the Heart of Miami

Abandoned Lots in the Heart of Miami

In a county where over 60% of residents can't afford housing, it's mind-boggling to see abandoned vacant lots, and much worse when the City doesn't enforce its ordinances to maintain them clean and safe. Listen as we speak to urbanist, journalist and disability advocate Steve Wright about what's going on with these lots and how we could leverage these lands to tackle Miami's affordable housing crisis.

How many bureaucrats does it take to plant some trees?

How many bureaucrats does it take to plant some trees?

In a socialist society, bureaucracy is the law of the land and usually followed by the phrase "un tramitecito mas y plantamos el arbolito", "one more piece of paperwork and we'll plant the tree". In this episode, we dive into the threat of socialism and how it's creeping in into our local government in the City of Miami with our host's real life story on the process endured to replace a tree. Take a listen and let us know your thoughts!

2 Sides of the Same Coin: Populism vs. Socialism

2 Sides of the Same Coin: Populism vs. Socialism

Here in Miami, we constantly hear about the tragedies that immigrants from socialist countries experienced. Those traumas have very much shaped our political environment and any encroaching of government in private lives is met with skepticism and labeled as socialism. But what about populism? What is it and does it pose a threat to our community and our nation? This is exactly the question we hope to answer in this episode!
