Ep 64 // Understanding The Criminal Mindset with John (Tuan) Doan and Sharon Kilon Han
What is the root of a criminal behavior? Why do people commit crime and what is the mindset and the thinking pattern of someone living in a criminal and gang lifestyle?
After spending 26 years in prison, John Doan sat down with me to share his story of why he lived a criminal lifestyle, how he learned to transform his mindset, redefine his identity, and rewire his value system.
In this episode, you’ll learn about the criminal mindset he had when he committed the crime that got him a sentence of 15 years to life in prison, the biggest lesson he learned in prison, and the inner work he did to make the decision to transform his way of thinking and behaving.
Now, out on parole, he is serving the community through his work as the CEO of a non-profit organization called Fear For Breakfast, where he hopes to help crime prevention and bring healing on both sides of crime.

EP 63 // Creating a Space for Ambitious Millennials to Learn, Grow, and Launch Their Dreams
Have you ever wished there was a safe, encouraging environment to dream, learn, and grow together with a small intimate group of like-minded people to help you activate your life’s calling and purpose?
About 4 years ago, I had this wild idea of creating a "life school" where we go step-by-step, following a curriculum, to explore important life topics like self-esteem, purpose, faith, life-vision, and setting goals for the future.
Fast forward to now, I'm so happy to create a program to give people the opportunity I wish I had! — Life Mastery Bootcamp.

This was a challenging topic to tackle, and I’m still learning in this area, but I hope this episode will help you in your journey of learning how to navigate relationships with people who have different opinions than you with more love, grace, and understanding. 🤍
Thank you for being here and for listening!

40 A Common Goal Setting Mistake Most People Make
If you have big dreams and ambitious goals in life and are feeling burnt out or overwhelmed from trying to chase after those goals, chances are, you are making this goal mistake when setting your goals. This is something I learned from the book, "The Bullet Journal Method" by Ryder Carroll, and this small shift on how you set your goals will make even your biggest, most ambitious goals seem much more manageable and actionable~
Key Takeaways:
- Focus your goals on PROCESS vs. an OUTCOME that's outside of your control.
- Break down your goals into small, actionable tasks that are within your control.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” (Martin Luther King Jr.)
As this year is proving to be a year full of challenges, my hope is that each of us can stand in a position that is honorable, just, compassionate, and one that when we look back years later, we can proudly tell our grandchildren about.

26 The Death of George Floyd: 3 Questions We Should Be Asking Ourselves
"If we don't stand for anything, we fall for everything." My heart has been very heavy this week after Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, pinned George Floyd, a black man, to the ground with putting his knee on Floyd's neck for more than 7 minutes, resulting in the death of Floyd. I'm horrified by the video that's been circulating around. This is my personal reflection on this situation and the 3 questions that I think we all should be asking ourselves with a humble, repentant heart, seeking to bring humanity one step closer to justice and love than hate and division. I know this is an emotional subject, and I want to acknowledge that I may not have all the facts and that I may not be seeing the full picture, so I apologize in advance is there is anything that I say in my own ignorance and lack of understanding. My prayers go out to George Floyd, his family and friends, and for America.
"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." Martin Luther King Jr.
Please stand up and let your voice be heard for justice.

24 How to Replace Bad Habits With Good Habits
Use the science of neuro-associative conditioning (NAC) to replace your bad habits with good habits! This episode is based Ch. 6 of Tony Robbins' book, Awaken The Giant Within, "How To Change Anything In Your Life: The Science of Neuro-Associative Conditioning."
6 Steps of NAC:
1. Decide what you really want and what’s preventing you from having it now.
2. Get leverage: associate massive pain to not changing now and massive pleasure to the experience of changing now.
3. Interrupt the limiting pattern.
4. Create a new, empowering alternative.
5. Condition the new pattern until it’s consistent.
6. Test it and see if it works.
This technique is something I walk my coaching clients through when they want to stop their bad habits and start forming healthier ones. I want to encourage you to take some time to go through these 6 steps yourself to "train your brain" for transformation!

21 Not Limit Your Dreams to Asian Stereotypes with ALICE
The month of May is AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) Heritage Month! In celebration of AAPI heritage month, I will be featuring powerful Asian voices in our community throughout this month!
First up is ALICE, a Korean American R&B/Pop singer breaking stereotypes in the American music industry. Her goal is to help elevate the portrayal and views of Asians in America by being a powerful and vocal influence in the media. She’s been interviewed with Teen Vogue, sang guide vocals for a YG entertainment artist, and won the CCM songwriting competition in South Korea. I first met ALICE in Boston when she was attending Berklee College of Music and she’s one of the most confident people I know, but in this episode, she opens up about feeling limited and unwanted in the American music industry for being Asian, being bullied and dealing with racism growing up, and through it all, learning to find confidence and self-worth in who she is, and not on what other people say and think about her.
This is a refreshing, powerful episode that would give a lot of inspiration for those with big dreams who want to break stereotypes!
