Barrett Evans On Reinventing How We Define & Identify With Others. *This Episode Supports GLSEN.
On a very special episode, one of Mindy's oldest friends, Barrett Evans, joins the show. They've experienced many of life's greatest reinventions over their 21 years of friendship, and 2020 was no exception. Both found themselves at a career crossroads when Mindy left her 9-5 position and Barrett's was relocated to NYC, bringing him to the tough decision to part ways with an organization he absolutely loved. However, what they both realized along the way is that we are all so much more than our job titles.
Over the next hour, what you'll hear is more of an open conversation between two best friends. They talk about:
- High school bullies (They know who they are if they're listening)
- How Barrett took back control of his own narrative after he was forced to come out as a gay man before he was ready
- Why Barrett refuses to ask people what they do for work when getting to know them and the questions he asks instead
- How brands need to do better when it comes to "Rainbow Capitalism" during PRIDE month. (ahem, Michael's)
And in support of creating safe and inclusive schools for our LBTQ+ Youth, we are raising awareness for GLSEN. An organization promoting safe spaces for these underrepresented communities. To donate or support this amazing initiative, please visit https://www.glsen.org/.
If you'd like to connect with Barrett on a personal level you can follow him on Instagram HERE. If you're interested in learning and/or coaching from him, feel free to connect with him on LinkedIn!
