Katherine grew up a Marine Corps brat until her dad retired when she was about 12 years old. This traveler attributes a lot of her desire and need to travel and move around to her military upbringing. Don't stay in one place too long, adjust, try new things, get out of your comfort zone. She is also very proud of her Black/Filipina identity, and tries her best to connect with the two parts of herself.

Dr. Britten Cole is a physician, businesswoman, and Navy veteran. She was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy as an Attending Anesthesiologist stationed in Bethesda, MD as well as Iraq, where she supported medical efforts in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Britten has contributed to People Magazine, and has been featured on Bravo television network on the reality show Married to Medicine Los Angeles. We chat about her childhood on the southside of Chicago, her service in Iraq, "white passing", and cultural appreciation and acceptance.
