Black History and Black Future
In this Black History Month-themed episode of #MKOP, our hosts talk to Red Stars defender and Chicago-native Sarah Gorden. Gorden talks about her experiences as a Black woman and player in the NWSL, her work with the Black Players Collective, her non-profit organization Hoodspace CHI as well as her views towards the future. In the second half of the episode, Yvonne Fisher and Randel Bennett of the Black Fires join the show to discuss what life is like in a Black-focused supporters group and as Black soccer fans in general. The two members also talk about the challenges they see as the soccer community looks to expand into more Black and Brown communities and how to attract more fans from that demographic.
