From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. Sabbathing SOULjourners, visit the ADVENT page to download the journaling guide + calendar. Hope + wisdom are tethered in the story of Tamar, one of the Messiah's ancestors. It is used to describe people who are skilled, those who have “wise hearts." Mother Tamar is a beacon for hope through a wise heart as she sought justice. This could be a shift in your attitude (orthodoxy), your feeling (orthopathy), or your behavior (orthopraxy). 2. the long-term outcome "outcome"... And because of that' short-term outcome, you not only become a willing recipient, you become a willing conduit of something transformative and sustaining. In your journaling guide, you'll turn this part of your narrative into a manifesto—a declaration of your God-given vision (the type of world that you dream about + long to create). Begin your manifesto with, "I will..." Remember, you are more than your writing + speaking. You are a human, a multifaceted soul. Together let's pay attention to our soul care narrative from the inside out. I am here to awaken + guide you to notice, nurture, and embody the art + activism of soul care. [Archival Reboot] Soul Care Narrative Day 4 - Protagonist
Pause Parishioners, now that you have scribbled out your soul care narrative, let's take a closer look at your protagonist(s)—who is for your good, who is advocating for your well-being? In your story, make sure you include yourself as a protagonist because you are also an agent of good (tov) and transformation. A word about the inner critic: SOULjourner, don't discount yourself as a protagonist due to your inner critic. Did you know that even your inner critic is for you? Yes, you heard me—she is trying to warn you and keep you safe. Her voice has been shaped by your experiences + pain. Her focus is on the part of your story she longs to protect. She gets scared and anxious when you step out to do hard and vulnerable things. If her ways and words are followed, they will keep you from true connection and the fellowship of radical love. Instead of ignoring her or silencing her, listen deeply and respond with grace, "Yes, I might get hurt, I might get rejected, I might be new to this, I might get it wrong, but we are more than our pain. I am free to courageously dare to encounter joy + deepen my roots as I experience God's steadfast and unswerving love for me even here." This is the affirmation of a protagonist. Sukkot + Soul Care Narrative Day 3 [Archival Reboot]
Pause Parishioners, today’s invitation is to write down the story we tell ourselves about our soul care (our embodied, whole person nurture) beginning with identifying the protagonist and context of our narrative. As we pay attention to our soul care narrative from the inside out, let's notice + nurture + embody the art and activism of soul care—personally + collectively. Sukkot Meditation: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God…And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us” (John 1:1, 14). The word “dwelt” in Greek means “tabernacled.” The Word became human and tabernacled among us humans. Also, ponder 2 Corinthians 5. Midday Rest + Recovery - An Invitation to Daydream or Take a Nap
SOULjourner, I'm inviting you to make a date with yourself—really! Put a reminder on your phone, an event in your calendar to decelerate each midday to daydream or take a nap (or get some fresh air) to reclaim custody back of your body before bedtime. Did you know it takes up to thirty minutes for a cheetah to recover from a chase? The audacity of this midday meditation is to invite us to not suspend recovery from whatever it is we are pursuing or chasing today. We can take custody back all throughout the day and recover from the energy resources we have spent. And so, I want you to repeat after me, and as you repeat after me, I want you to allow your body to respond however your body desires + needs to respond to align + abide in Love because we're not here to produce, primarily, we're here to image Love—producing, creating is a by-product of our birthright, and therefore, we don't have to work for it—we work + rest from that inheritance. And as you repeat after me, if your body desires to nap and you can, then do so. If your body desires to wander off in an imagination that takes you to daydreaming—let it. Let your body do that—let her, I should say, her, not it. And so, listen to the temple that is inhabited by the Holy Spirit as you repeat after me. I am beloved. And I am worthy of rest + recovery. I will no analyze whether or not I deserve it. I am worthy. I am worthy. I am human. I am not a machine. I don't work for the purpose of rest—I work from the place of rest. I will hydrate myself internally with the Living Water. And after I arise + reengage, I will hydrate myself with fresh water for my cells for my skin for my organs within for my joints, my bones my mind, my brain all of me Connect and discover more from our soul care publishing studio: Pinterest: Mohawkmomma Studio Linkedin: Andrea L. Day 22 | Walk in The Word Bible Study Series
This is our last day in the Walk in the Word series. We are in the last lament portion of our Healing and Held devotion. Our focus is on Hannah in 1 Samuel chapter 1.  Together, let's notice, nurture, and embody this ancient lament. We are moving in radical self-care, healing, and meditation as we take it to the outdoors and walk for justice and joy. And for my sistahs whose physical walk is limited or absent, you are blessed and highly favored—unquestionably, we all have a 'heart walk' that awaits us.  Whether in our triumphs or trials, we can reimagine ourselves in our ongoing healing as we choose redemptive resistance to anything that doesn't flow from the heart of the Beloved Redeemer—Yeshua.  Resources: - Get your copy of Healing + Held (softcover or hardcover) or the eBook. - Situation, song by Jonathan Reynolds - Bible Study Tools Scripture4all - Hebrew Interlinear Bible Scripture4all - Greek Interlinear Bible Tony Evans Study Bible and/or Commentary Logos Bible Software (Basic plan is free) Blue Letter Bible Bible Hub Connect and discover more from our soul care publishing studio: Pinterest: Mohawkmomma Studio Linkedin: Andrea L. Day 5 | Walk in The Word Bible Study Series
Together, let's notice, nurture, and embody the divine feminine countenance (face) of God. When God gets around to creating in the divine image, they will be female and male. The Scriptures not only reveal that God (Elohim) is Spirit (John 4:24), we also see how Elohim is grammatically masculine, which doesn’t necessarily mean that God is male, but does give us the masculine language we use so often in the church. Beyond this episode, I invite my Patreon patrons to go a little deeper in an exclusive Bonus Day 5 episode: The Holy Spirit who hovered over the waters (Genesis 1) is the feminine One who also conceived Yeshua's life into the womb of Mary (Matthew 1:20). But why do we rarely hear of this feminine language? I want to invite us to reimagine and talk about the Holy Spirit as the manifestation of God that is active in our world, speaking it into life, breathing through it, and through us. Day 1 | Walk in The Word Bible Study Series - Juneteenth NEW Season Kickoff
Hello, Beautiful SOULjourner. Welcome to a new season kicking off this Juneteenth! It's a 22-Day Bible study series, "Walk in the Word" from my book, Healing & Held.  Together, let's notice, nurture, and embody radical self-care, healing, and meditation as we take it to the outdoors and walk for justice and joy. Whether in our triumphs or trials, we can reimagine ourselves in our ongoing healing as we choose redemptive resistance to anything that doesn't flow from the heart of the Beloved Redeemer—Yeshua.  Why it's significant for me to launch this new Bible study series on Juneteenth? Juneteenth is the oldest national commemoration of the ending of slavery for many in Texas in United States history. Juneteenth was first celebrated on June 19, 1866. In the year 2020, 154 years after that celebration, Black people are still fighting for their independence.  We are still living in a country built upon white supremacy. So Juneteenth is an immensely significant day for me to launch this series and the re-release of Healing & Held in honor of my ancestors, many of whom are theologians, pastors and prophets. "Juneteenth is a celebration of perseverance in the face of wickedness; of enduring hardness like good soldiers. It is a celebration of making a way out of no way. It is a celebration of remembrance; remembering that words and proclamations, and policies mean nothing unless they are followed by actions. We celebrate because we are still here. We celebrate because no matter what this society has thrown at us we have found a way to not just survive but thrive."  - Rev. Day 7: Soul Care Narrative - Outcomes
Welcome to Day 7 of your Soul Care Narrative. On Day 6, we wrote about the role of creativity in our soul care narrative. Today's invitation is to pay close attention to two outcomes: 1.  the short-term outcome of creativity's invitation and intervention in our story - this could be a shift in your attitude (orthodoxy), your feeling (orthopathy), or your behavior (orthopraxy). 2. the long-term outcome outcome... 'And because of that' short-term outcome, you not only become a willing recipient, you become a willing  conduit of something transformative and sustaining. In your journaling guide, you'll turn this part of your narrative into a manifesto — a  declaration of your God-given vision (the type of world that you dream about and wish to create). Begin your manifesto with, "I will..." The Write Your Soul Care Narrative is a FREE 10-day course. Remember, you are more than a writer, you are a soul who writes. Days 1 & 2: Soul Care Narrative - There Is Enough Good + Ortho Intro
Welcome to Days 1 and 2, SOULjourner! Truth is a language. Let's make it our mother tongue.  As souls who write, we must commit ourselves to truthful language that delights and detoxes. Today’s invitation is to guide us to acknowledge and affirm the language of abundant goodness upon ourselves as we examine a 3-part "ortho" language. Ortho means  straight, aligned, correct: Orthopraxy - "what you do" (actions/practices) Orthopathy - "what you feel" - (feelings/emotion) Orthodoxy - "what you believe" - (thoughts/attitudes) Sharing Is Caring What did you discover about your ortho language? Post it wherever you are on social media. Follow and use #soulcareclassroom. Not on social media? Email it to someone and/or send a text. Lent Invitation - Lend Your Lent Space To Bless, Breathe, & Relax
Lent begins in seven days, and where it ends Passover begins. What are you doing to prepare your heart to savor Jesus during the coming 40-day period leading up to Resurrection Sunday/Easter?  In one word, I want you to describe Jesus. My one word invites you to join a caravan of other SOULjourners every Wednesday until the conclusion of Passover. In solidarity, we will be fasting from going fast by adding slow to our days. How does slowing down help us become more like Jesus? How has your heart been trained to hurry?  When we intentionally discipline or train our bodies to slow down, you and I are actually habituating our hearts back towards the Beloved, Our Creator. This is part of our embodiment narrative. We will train our hearts in three ways to become more present with Jesus, ourselves, and others. We will Bless + Breathe + Relax. These three gifts will become our Lenten sanctuary of transformation. I will guide you through my Lenten devotional of blessings (some scriptural and some are my original poetic blessings). To receive the devotional, please join our soul care community.  And I will let you know when it's ready for download! Signup on the website: mohawkmommastudio.com

Part 2 Let Your Life Speak - Thoughts on Vocation
Shalom! We're on a soul care, embodied mission. It’s art and activism moving as one. Welcome to today's SOULbriety pilgrimage. Let's rest and reThink around this soul care campfire. In Genesis 2:7, we find that humans are a "living soul." People don't have a nephesh, we are a nephesh.  In the Hebraic thought we are composed of multiple parts. The body is the flesh and bones, the vessel. Your spirit (the breath) enables and animates your personal presence. The organs are viewed as the seats of thought (the heart), emotion (the kidneys), intuition (gut), etc. Unified YOU The soul is the whole of the person, the unity of the body, organs and breath. It is not some immaterial spiritual entity, it is you, all of you, your whole being or self. Mohawkmomma Soul is Brought to You By The Healing Manifesto Sabbath Rhythms Devotional Planner, created by Mohawkmomma In this 30-minute episode: — You’ll be encouraged to respond to the statement: "I bring a voice of ______ into the world." — You’ll be invited to notice three attributes that cultivate the communion that vocation brings. — You’ll consider how Jesus' presence has a way of digging through our mindset and attitudes as a disruption and a deliverance. — You’ll be guided in one of the vocation reflections from the Sabbath Rhythms Planner. Savoring The Actions And Attitude of Giving
As we savor the Sabbath together, we will look closely at how giving escorts us into new creative places. To give begins with an interior response (attitude/disposition), then an exterior response (words/actions).  In this minisode, I focus on the Hebrew word, nathan, which means "give" or "gift". More than a concept, giving is a creative expression that comes from the heart.  Connect with me online:  http://bit.ly/mohawkmommasoulcare  Instagram: @mohawkmommaloves
