Meanwhile, HSH Princess Charlene is diving into community outreach — quite literally. On May 15, her foundation unveiled a mobile aquatic centre in the village of Allos in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The initiative aims to promote water safety and swimming education in remote areas, bringing the Princess’s mission to rural communities.

Shifting gears — quite literally — Prince Albert II launched Monaco’s first-ever cycling academy on May 21. The project reflects the Principality’s growing passion for cycling and offers a structured pathway for aspiring riders to develop under expert guidance.

Monaco Weekly News by NEWS.MC - ep 36
This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the top stories from the Principality — from economic law to classic roulette wheels — and a very special guest interview on the power of cultural diplomacy.
We begin with a major milestone in maritime law. On May 8th, the Institute of Economic Law of the Sea (INDEMER) celebrated 40 years of shaping international marine policy. Held under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, the anniversary conference brought together legal experts and policymakers to reflect on four decades of progress and future challenges facing global ocean governance.
Speed met splendour at the 20th edition of Top Marques Monaco, which revved into the Grimaldi Forum from May 8 to 11. With more than 190 vehicles on display — from hypercars to hydrogen prototypes — and a record-breaking 100 exhibitors, this landmark event once again positioned Monaco at the forefront of automotive luxury and innovation.
On May 8th, World Red Cross Day was marked with a heartfelt tribute to Henri Dunant, founder of the Red Cross, born in 1828. The Monegasque Red Cross opened its doors to the public, showcasing its vital humanitarian work and inviting new volunteers to join its mission.
Art history rolled the dice at the Monte Carlo Casino on May 9th, where Marcel Duchamp’s centenarian masterpiece “Obligation pour la Roulette de Monte-Carlo” was honoured in a symbolic return to its birthplace. The conceptual piece — part art, part satire, part gamble — was celebrated with a tribute worthy of the Dada pioneer.
Dog lovers gathered in Fontvieille for the International Dog Show of Monaco 2025, where 1,432 dogs representing 162 breeds competed under the iconic white marquee. The event continues to grow as a prestigious stop in the international canine calendar.
Meanwhile, musical magic swept through the Rainier III Auditorium on May 11th, as the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra delivered a dazzling evening of American and Latin American symphonies. The performance lit up the stage with rhythms from Cuba to Copland.
On May 12th, Prince Albert II visited the village of Malaussène to inaugurate the fully restored historic mill and canal, severely damaged by Storm Alex in 2020. The project stands as a testament to Monaco’s commitment to preserving regional heritage in partnership with the Alpes-Maritimes.
Diplomacy took centre stage on two fronts. First, Monaco and Italy strengthened cross-border ties through the Third Italian-Monegasque Joint Commission on Administrative Cooperation, held on May 12th. Then, on May 14th, Monaco participated in the 134th session of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers in Luxembourg — a pivotal meeting focused on democratic resilience and ongoing crises, including the war in Ukraine. Monaco’s involvement comes as it prepares to assume the Council presidency later this year.
This week’s special guest is Maxim Berin, CEO of Berin Iglesias Art, one of the leading forces in European cultural production. In an exclusive interview, he shares his vision for the role of arts in diplomacy, the evolving landscape of luxury entertainment, and how Monaco is becoming a key stage for world-class cultural experiences.

This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest from the Principality, where diplomacy, innovation and fashion have all taken centre stage.
The annual Diplomatic Conference, hosted by Monaco’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, brought together ambassadors accredited to the Principality for two days of high-level talks on April 24th. Discussions focused on Monaco’s strategic national priorities and its evolving role on the global stage.
On the same day, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II and Her Royal Highness the Princess of Hanover visited France’s Ardennes region, retracing the Grimaldi family’s ancestral links. The visit marked nearly 250 years since the marriage of Louise d’Aumont Mazarin to the future Prince Honoré IV, a union that brought several French fiefs under Monaco’s influence—deepening the historical ties between the two nations.
Across the globe, Monaco’s elegant pavilion at the Osaka World Expo is already drawing strong crowds. With some 28 million visitors expected from across Japan, China and Korea, Ambassador Didier Gamerdinger emphasised the strategic importance of the Principality’s presence at the event.
Back in Monte-Carlo, glamour met purpose on April 25th as the 13th Monte-Carlo Fashion Week culminated in the Monte-Carlo Fashion Awards at the Yacht Club. Designers blending innovation with ethical values were honoured, cementing the event’s reputation as a showcase for forward-thinking style.
High-value collectibles were under the hammer as Monaco Legend Group held its Exclusive Timepieces auction at the Hôtel Méridien Beach Plaza. Over two days, the auction achieved an impressive €16.6 million in sales and a 96 percent sell-through rate, reaffirming the group’s dominant position in the luxury watch market.
Innovation continued to spark discussion on April 28th as the second Monaco Clean Fusion Forum convened at the Yacht Club de Monaco. Supported by the Prince Albert II Foundation, the event featured a historic remote demonstration of nuclear fusion, highlighting Monaco’s commitment to leading the charge in clean energy solutions.
Security infrastructure also took a step forward on April 30th with the inauguration of the Principality’s 14th police station at 95 Boulevard du Jardin Exotique. The 125-square-metre facility, opened by Charlotte Casiraghi on behalf of Public Safety, forms part of the Upper West City Entrance Project and is designed to bolster border control and ensure safety in one of Monaco’s key gateway districts.
On the sports front, the Roca Team were left reeling on April 30th after a bruising 100-89 defeat to Barcelona in Game 3 of the EuroLeague quarterfinals. Despite an explosive start and a strong showing from Mike James, Monaco succumbed to a punishing 17-0 run in the second quarter—losing control of the match and missing a golden opportunity to clinch a Final Four spot.

Monaco Weekly News by NEWS.MC - ep 32
This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest from the Principality, starting with a high-profile visit that blended history, symbolism, and family ties. On April 10, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, accompanied by Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, embarked on a poignant journey through Brittany and Normandy. The visit served to deepen Monaco’s historic connections with these French regions, rooted in centuries of shared heritage.
Continuing his official engagements, Prince Albert II concluded the Normandy leg of the tour on April 11. The trip commemorated the enduring ties between the Grimaldi and Matignon families—an alliance that spans over three centuries—and underlined the Prince’s commitment to preserving Monaco’s cultural legacy across borders.
Monaco turned its attention to the arts and memory on April 12, paying tribute to Josephine Baker, fifty years after her passing in 1975. The American-born entertainer and resistance hero formed a close bond with the Principality, where she is now laid to rest. The commemoration honoured not only her contributions to the stage, but also her legacy of courage and activism.
In music news, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra dazzled audiences with a unique performance of Poulenc’s rarely heard Concerto for Two Pianos in D minor. The concert featured Dutch brothers Lucas and Arthur Jussen, whose synchronised virtuosity at the piano brought the piece to life in what many are calling a highlight of the spring season.

On April 16, at a ceremony held at the Monaco Embassy in Paris, HSH Prince Albert II conferred the title of Knight of the Order of Saint Charles on French Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu and telecom magnate Xavier Niel. The honours reflect their individual contributions to Franco-Monegasque relations and broader civic life.

Speaking in the presence of Prince Albert II and an audience of scientists and diplomats, Valentini urged greater urgency in global climate action, underscoring Monaco’s role as a hub for ocean and climate advocacy.
