We love our parents. That's why you're our student of the week shout outs! Topics include the power of music to "infect" positivity into the world and why it's important to be able to make music. We also discuss the impact that collaboration has on students finding friends and community in the arts. Lastly, We share upcoming workshops and off-site events for the busy month of March!

This week is our back stage tour week. It's a chance for parents to meet with teachers and students and keep communication going. Here are a few important questions to ask on your your.

We're super excited to announce our 1st annual battle of the bands in Sarasota in collaboration with Everyone Rocks and Rise Above Performing Arts. Shout out to super student of the week Rhys Kallins.

We discuss why it's important to bring folk music locally to Sarasota, and how the Listening Room of Sarasota supports grassroots artists.

We discuss the importance of performing as a part of a students musical journey. We also describe what goes into our on site concerts and off-site performances. 

In this episode we talk about the power of music to express someone's feelings/emotions. Through the words and 🎵, music speaks when there are no words to express how we feel. Many parents want their child to learn music, but some don't realize that investing in music is more like investing in learning a language, not a math class; music becomes a tool for a child to express his or herself. It's not about playing the right notes, but using the notes you learn to express yourself.

Charlie is one of our adult piano students. He's been taking piano lessons with Ms Mary for almost a year now. He decided to start lessons in order to grow closer to his children and grand children. He always wanted to be a piano player, but life happened, can you relate? Well not he's coming in every week (even showing up early to get some extra practice) and he's slated to perform WITH his family for the holidays. We are so proud of him and thankful to share this journey with him.

We are so excited to be speaking with Summer S! She's a vocal student, actress, and all around bright and shining start at MC. She also gives great advice: PRACTICE! Listen in as she shares how music has impacted her life and continues to inspire her.

When mom's on a mission get together, watch out! These fly ladies started out as students and now they own the 5 year old dance studio on Cattlemen Rd in Sarasota. Their mission is helping their members regain that sense of self that comes with confidence and strength through dance. It was a fantastic time talking with them about their story, why they love their FLY DANCE community, and why YOU should give it a shot even if you're not a dancer, an introvert, or even a dude!

Shout out to BRAEDON R. becoming our student of the week! Braedon is the drummer of not one, but two bands at Music Compound and he always brings a smile to our faces when he's around.
