Series 3 Ranked!
It is time for our traditional end of series ranking episode. Pull up a chair, grab some chocolate cake and listen to Charlie decide on a ranking criteria (it's not "most minute minute" this time) and then rank the 8 movie minutes from this series. As this will be the last episode of My Movie Minute for the some time (although we do plan to return with some specials and one-offs) we would like to thank our listeners for tuning in each week, and a special thanks to those of you have contributed to the the podcast, either with contributions and messages or by guesting on the pod! We hope you enjoy this, our final (for now) episode of My Movie Minute...
Scene 24: "Blue smoke curls and billows..." (Aladdin)
Welcome to the My Movie Minute podcast, and to our final full episode of Series 3. In this episode, Mark chooses a joyous movie minute from his childhood. As is fitting for this particular series, after an initial round of silliness and impressions, the conversation hits a more emotional note as the hosts start to reminisce about one of the cinematic greats. Whilst this is the final full episode of the series, Mark & Charlie will be back next week with the traditional 'ranking' episode of My Movie Minute, so you can find out where this, and the last 7 weeks episodes rank. But this week our scene begins when blue smoke curls and billows...
Scene 23: "A police officer removes a pair of handcuffs..." (The Matrix)
It's one of Charlie's movie minutes this week, and he has a very iconic minute from a ridiculously "cool" movie from his original DVD collection. This one gets Mark and Charlie equally excited, and whilst they do manage to have a chat about the scene itself, the episode eventually ends up with a couple of guys just quoting other cools scenes / lines from the movie at each other! Can you guess what it is yet!? As well as discussing the scene, Charlie and Mark also ponder over the ultimate Sandra-Bullock-athon and take a look at IMDB's 2021 "badass women of cinema and TV" poll. This week's movie minute begins when a policeman removes a pair of handcuffs...
Scene 22: "A man in a spacesuit is floating through a room..." (2001 A Space Odyssey, Guest: Emily Elliot)
This week, Mark and Charlie welcome their second guest of the series, Emily Elliot, to the My Movie Minute headquarters! She has bought with her an absolutely epic movie minute that leaves Charlie giddy with excitement! Emily bring her expertise as a psychotherapist to the table as she talks through the complexity of emotions that go hand in hand with her chosen scene. We hope listeners enjoy this deep dive into a classic and epic movie scene that begins with a min in a spacesuit floating though a room...
Scene 21: "A grey haired man patiently waits..." (Erin Brockovich)
Welcome to the My Movie Minute Podcast. This week it's Mark turn to pick a minute from a movie he loves to discuss with Charlie, and this week he picks what he describes as a 'meta movie minute'. After a little bit of lockdown movie chat, the hosts get stuck into Mark's minute which they both agree is from an absolute joy of a film! The clip Mark chose to discuss this week starts with a grey haired man patiently waiting...
Intermission #2
Our traditional mid-series intermission episode, that contains recommendations from Charlie & Mark!
Scene 20: "A Teenage boy in a bedroom is touching wallpaper..." (Me, Earl & the Dying Girl, Guest: Matt Green)
Welcome to Episode 20 of the 'My Movie Minute' podcast. This week Mark & Charlie welcome special guest, Matt Green. Matt is not only a friend of Charlies, and friend of the podcast, but also a Psychotherapist (which Matt explains is another way of saying he is a school counsellor!). Following on from last week's episodes in which Charlie spoke about emotionally impactful movies. Matt, Mark and Charlie explore themes of grief, loneliness and nostalgia in movies, as well as discussing some classic Action Movies! Through references to his own choice of movie minute, talks more specifically about the ways in which we manage grief, and the ways in which grief is often portrayed on screen. It's a fascinating and insightful episode, and we hope you enjoy listening to the discussions and, of course, trying to guess Matt's movie minute which begins with a teenage boy in a bedroom, touching wallpaper...
Scene 19: "A yellow humanoid with blue hair..." (Inside Out)
Welcome to this 'better late than never' episode of my movie minute, the podcast in which hosts Mark and Charlie chat about just 60 seconds or less from the movies that affected us in some way. Mark and Charlie settled down way back in 2020 for only their second podcast recording session, and recorded an episode about an animated movie that is very close to Charlie's heart. Due to reasons which are explained during the podcast, this episode was never released... until now! It was an emotional episode for Charlie, and therefore we do hope you enjoy this “lost, found and restored” My Movie Minute episode that begins with a certain yellow humanoid with blue hair...
Scene 18: "Near the top of a skyscraper, a couple exchange a few words..." (Fight Club)
Scene 17: "A man watches children play baseball..." (Traffic)
Mark is up first this week with a rather meandering minute which comes at the end of an early 2000's movie of epic proportions. Find out why one of Mark's favourite endings involves a man, watching children play baseball...

Christmas Present #1: Spyhard's Podcast (Dr No Episode)
When Santa visited 'My Movie Minute' HQ (see our Christmas Special for more details) he left a couple of audio Christmas gifts for our listeners. This is the first Christmas present,... and it the episode of Spyhards where Agent's Scott & Cam discuss Dr No! Listeners will know that Scott & Cam contributed to 'My Movie Minute' by appearing on Episodes 15 & 16 bringing along their own Movie Minutes. In Episode 15, Scott spoke about James Bond's introduction in Dr No, so if you want to hear them talk about the film its entirety tune in and listen to this episode of Spyhards.

Christmas Special: "We are on a street in the Winter..." (Guest Star, Santa Claus!)
And in case you want to guess Santa's movie minute, it begins like this... "We are on a street in the Winter..."
Series 2 Ranked!
It's that time again for our end of series ranking episode! This week, Mark has the challenge of ranking the 8 individual minutes from Series 2 of My Movie Minute based on some, slightly confusing criteria!
This series we invited guests onto the show, and therefore Sean (there's no I in podcast), Rob (the bowtie balloon guy), Scott & Cam's (spyhard podcast) movie minutes are ranked along side two minutes from the There Will Be Blood double bill plus Mark and Charlie's own selection from the first couple of episodes this series. Which Movie Minute will win the title of "Most Minute Minute" this time round!?

Episode 10. Being John Malkovich - Malkovich in his own head (Charlie)
Episode 11. Silence of the Lambs - Meeting Hannibal (Guest Sean)

Scene 16: "Two exhausted souls stand, trapped and alone…” (Jaws, Guest Cam from Spyhards)
Once again, My Movie Minute is joined by not one, but two special guest - Agents Scott & Cam the provocateur from the "Spyhards podcast". This is part two of our Spyhards double bill, and this week it is Cam that picks his movie minute - a minute or less from a film that he loves. Listeners have the opportunity to guess Cam's choice from a "no names" description near the start, however, Cam does take this opportunity to move firmly away from the Spy genre as we re-visit a director who My Move Minute have covered once before in the early days of the podcast!
Once you have finished listening to this weeks episode of 'My Movie Minute', do check out the excellent "Spyhards Podcast" for more of Scott and Cam, which you can find at https://www.spyhards.com/ and also by following them on instagram @spyhards.
Tune in next week for the traditional and controversial end of series "ranking" episode, as Mark ranks each Movie Minute from Series 2!
Scene 15: "Two players go head to head at a casino table..." (Dr. No, Guest Scott from Spyhards)
This week, My Movie Minute is joined by not one, but two special guest - Agents Scott & Cam the provocateur from the "Spyhards podcast". This is part one of another double bill, and this week it is Scott that picks his movie minute - a minute or less from a film that he loves. Listeners have the opportunity to guess Scott's choice from a "no names" description near the start, however, without giving the game away too much - his choice definitely falls into the "Spyhards" theme!
Once you have finished listening to this weeks episode of 'My Movie Minute', do check out the excellent "Spyhards Podcast" for more of Scott and Cam, which you can find at https://www.spyhards.com/ and also by following them on instagram @spyhards.
Tune in next week for Cam the provocateur's movie minute!
Scene 14: There Will Be Blood Special (Part 2)
Grab your milkshakes, its time for the second part of My Movie Minute podcast's two part special focusing two minutes from "There Will Be Blood". This is a film that both Mark and Charlie rate as one of their all time favourites, and it is also one of the first films they spoke with each other about. Therefore we have dropped the mystery and gone for an all out PTA nerd fest full of general excitement about the epicness of this "flawless" movie.
Scene 13: There Will Be Blood Special (Part 1)
Note: During the episode, Mark mentions a podcast called "Will's Wise Words" - if you are interested you can follow @wisewordsofnot on twitter or download the podcast from anchor.fm/willswisewords
Intermission (Recommendations and Teasers!)
Scene 12: "A door is opened..." (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Guest Rob Driscoll)
Scene 11: "A man in a white coat opens the gates..." (Silence of the Lambs, Guest Sean Gallagher)
Scene 10: "We start with a first person view of a plate, napkin and cutlery..." (Being John Malkovich)
We are back in the recording studio for My Movie Minute this week, the podcast in which Mark and Charlie take turns to find 60 seconds from a movie they love to talk about. Following a whatsapp chat and instagram post, Charlie shares some interesting listener feedback about "Quintrilogies" or "Pentologies" to try and convince Mark that there is a series of exactly 5 films out there that isn't terrible!
Moving onto the clip, Charlie picks a scene that is both iconic and unsettling in equal measures. In the "no names" description, this week's clip is a particularly tough one to get through without any spoilers! The description and clip will be baffling to anyone who hasn't seen this movie, that's for sure!
During the main chat, directors Christopher Nolan and Charlie Kauffman (specifically the new Netflix movie "I'm thinking of ending things") are all discussed - and towards the end of the postcast there there is a little bit of Nicholas Cage chat for good measure! Watch out for future episode, because Cage is bound to turn up at some point again!
Hope you can join us this week to luxuriate in the weirdness that begins with a first person view of a plate, napkin & cutlery...
Scene 9: "Blue electric sparks fly from the machine" (Superman 3)
Welcome to Series 2 of My Movie Minute. After a short Bonus episode and a 1 week break, Mark and Charlie are back (with a new theme tune) to dissect a 60 second scene from a movie that has resonated with them.
This week, Charlie and Mark are excited to be recording in a 'legit' recording studio (although they aren't really using any of the knobs and cables - it's all for show!). During the intro, Mark has some unfinished business from the Bonus Episode, having realised during the edit that Charlie had pulled a 'bait and switch' by downgrading one of his films unfairly when ranking them! I don't think we have heard the end of this disagreement somehow.
This week's clip is chosen by Mark, and we fly back to the 80s for the third instalment in a popular franchise. Can you guess it from the "no names" description that Mark gives at the start? Charlie thinks this might be one of the toughest ones to guess so far.
This week's clip starts when blue sparks fly from the machine...
Series 1 Ranked! (aka DVD Special Edition Bonus Material)
It is then over to Mark to decide whether Charlie's rank is accurate, or a load of rubbish - because what are rankings for other than to be disagreed with!
This episode works best having listened to episode 1-8, so if you're new to the podcast, I suggest you listen to series 1 first.
Whilst waiting for Series 2 to drop, we would love to hear about your own "Movie Minutes", so please get in touch with us on Instagram @mymovieminute
Scene 8: "A group of well dressed school children enter a classroom..." (School of Rock)
Scene 7: "A young woman puts a car into gear..." (Drag Me to Hell)
Scene 6: "We are driving down a quiet country lane..." (Children of Men)
As well as discussing the movie minute in question, you will be treated to Mark’s Brian Blessed impression! On the periphery Charlie and Mark also mention “Lord of the Rings”, "Mad Max: Fury Road", “Gravity”, “Deep Blue Sea”, “Blindness” and Charlie makes a bold claim about what he considers to be the best Harry Potter movie!
There is a trigger warning at the start of this episode, as the clip itself contains swearing and a gunshot, but if you wish to skip this part of the episode you will be given a 1 minute warning!
I hope you enjoy our analysis of Scene 6 which begins with us driving down a quiet country lane.
PS. The YouTube "making of" clip that Charlie mentions during the podcast can be found here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJprbCuWdHo
Scene 5: "A man stops singing..." (Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory)
Scene 4: "The sun rises on the horizon..." (The Lion King)
This week, it is another early 90s nostalgia-fest with Charlie choosing to talk about a scene from one of his favourite childhood movies. They discuss remakes, movies made "for everyone", powerful openings and VHS collections. On the periphery, this week's chat briefly mentions movies such as "I Lost My Body", "West Side Story", "Psycho", "The Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas" and "Toy Story" - but non of these are the main event.
This week's movie minute starts at dawn, with the sun rising on the horizon...
Scene 3: "A man with a gun crouches in a doorway..." (Point Break)
Scene 2: "The face of a woman with a shaved head..." (Alien 3)
Scene 1: "A man in a wide brimmed hat..." (Jurassic Park)
The scene begins with a man in a wide brimmed hat...
