Her father gave her the gift of her Welsh heritage at an early age, as all of her paternal third-great-grandparents came from small villages in Cardiganshire, Wales during the “Great Welsh Tide” that brought thousands of pioneers seeking better lives to the area in the mid-1800’s. Besides working with the area Welsh society and Welsh Museum, the Center provides Rio students with the opportunity to spend a semester in a Study Abroad program with a university in Wales. Jeanne is Vice President of the Welsh North American Association, the organization tasked with organizing the North American Festival of Wales, the largest gathering of Welsh and friends in North America. The festival is held over Labor Day weekend in areas with large Welsh populations. As a Director on the North America Wales Foundation, she chairs the Publicity Committee and works with Scholarship. She is a Board Member of the Welsh Home in Cleveland, Ohio. Jeanne and husband Lou live on 26 acres, growing wine grapes and making home wines. They have two daughters and three grandchildren. Travel to Wales to work at the National Eisteddfod each year is an added bonus, enabling them to maintain many friendships there.
