Podcast to Podcast: Adulting Out Loud (with Yunia Kazibwe) - EPISODE 141
Yunia is the founder and host of "Adulting Out Loud". She and I explored the vision behind "Adulting Out Loud" and for the start of our conversation, we compared notes on what we thought Adulting would look like Vs. what we found in the real world. Part of this conversation will give you the feels of two podcasts fist-pumping each other. You'll hear us talking a lot about what it's been like to grow in the podcasting industry and somewhere, I made Yunia, make a public promise - mostly to her listeners.

Ssebo Lule is today's man of the show. Lule is a Ugandan poet whose uniqueness in delivery goes as far as the choice of language. What I first noticed about Ssebo Lule is the professionalism that he exhibits when it comes to his brand. For this conversation, he and I talk about the thought process behind his stage name, why he chose to fashion himself as a Luganda poet, and his over a decade experience in the poetry industry.

EPISODE 100 Reshared: How DigitALLy Fit Are You? (Live Recording Event)
This episode was a live podcast recording in honour of the 2023 Women's History Month. This episode delves into the subject of women's digital rights and the obstacles encountered by them in the digital realm. In it, we break down what causes the majority of online violence directed at women, what kind of women are most frequently targeted, and the best ways for women to succeed in digital environments without facing discrimination. The Media Challenge Initiative's CEO, Abaas Mpindi, and Pollicy researcher Bobina Zulfa were among the panel of experts.
Bobina highlighted the necessity of a systemic shift, urging governments to enact rules and regulations that safeguard women's rights online and guarantee them equitable access to the digital realm, while Abaas urges us to assess the weight of what it is we intend to communicate before we publish it. "...For me, it's just the humanity that we need..." he stated.
"How DigitALLy Fit Are You?" was, is, and always will be a time for us to pause and consider if we are the ones abusing others, the abuse victims, or just well-meaning people who want to make digital environments safe for everyone.

Unraveling Postpartum Depression with a Psychiatrist (Dr. Denis Agaba) - EPISODE 133
We had to explain what Postpartum Depression is before we could just go on to the next episode. In the previous episode, Oby, painted for us a picture of what it is like for motherhood to come along with postpartum depression, and while her experience highlights a quiet maternal health issue, I felt it was crucial that we discuss the subject in further detail with our resident Psychiatrist.
So in this Episode, here are the Answered Questions:
- What is Postpartum Depression?
- Why does it happen?
- Who is at the risk of suffering from it?
- Can it be prevented?

How To Maintain An Emotionally Healthy Love Life (with Dr. Denis Agaba) - EPISODE 131
This specific episode had a live audience whose questions were answered by Dr. Denis Agaba. For a while now, love or relationships have not been given enough attention on the podcast but now that Valentine's Day fell on a day new episodes get published, there is no way I was going to avoid it.
While prepping for this episode, though, I had to ask around for what questions people wished to ask the psychiatrist (in regards to love and mental health) and I think the question that struck me the most was "Does love have to always be painful?"
There are more questions you may have that the doctor answered and you can catch them on this episode.

EPISODE 87 Reshared: Quit Toxic Environments (with Mercy Geno Apachi)
This right here has, for many months, stood to be the most listened-to episode on the podcast.
Our guest star is none other than Mercy Geno Apachi - a journalist by profession and a poet by passion. From this episode, we learn that Poetry for Geno made it easier for her to set her emotions in motion, right from childhood to date. Mercy is one of those people who held onto their dream for over a decade only for societal standards to snatch it from them. In this conversation, she and I went over how and why her journey to pursue her love for journalism came to a still.
Listen in and find out why this episode ranks number 1. Also don't hesitate to let us know why you think it does.

EPISODE 11 Reshared: Mental Health Day (with Biyinzika Simon)
I had my face in my palm when I heard my voice in this episode. I was very fresh in this and still walked around with the worst self-doubt there is. This is the 11th episode on the podcast and the 3rd most listed-to episode.
I have published it as it was, in 2020 and the only thing that has changed is the amplification of the audio.
The relevance of the conversation on "men and mental health" still stands and will forever be evergreen content until we appreciate the pertinence of mental health and even so, recognise men as wholesome human beings whose mental health should be recognised.
Biyinzika trailblazed the men's presence on the podcast and I am forever grateful for his willingness to show up in my toddling stage.

EPISODE 63 Reshared: Normalise Difficult Conversations
Gratitude is a noun. It is a warm feeling of thankfulness towards the world, or towards specific individuals. In such a turbulent world that constantly challenges our ability to stay on our feet, the smidgens of gratefulness are like droplets of water on a dry leaf. They repair our brokenness. They refill our cups.
In this solo episode, I pointed out some of the moments that inspire gratitude and went on to answer the common questions related to Hash Time with Nabuguzi Kiwanuka. Why the podcast? Why Mental Health? What took me so long to start? (Touching a bit on Imposter Syndrome and how to thrive beyond it).
I hope that as a result of listening to this episode, you manage to create moments that allow you to be the starter and a willing participant in difficult conversations. Whether with yourself or the people you keep experiencing in life.

EPISODE 76 Reshared: Make Every Moment Count (with Hilary Okello)
This is the 7th most listened-to episode. We started the year with Katt Williams taking over the global internet and on this podcast we have Hilary refusing to leave the top 10 episodes. Dr. Hilary Okello is the only medical personnel in Uganda making a living from comedy. The first time I saw his profile on social media, I was sure Dr is just a title he picked on to stand out amongst his fellow stand-up comedians but to my shock, he was indeed a doctor. Our conversation explores;
- his childhood,
- his love for both medicine and fun,
- the importance of a tribe that encourages your craft
- and so much more you will get to hear.

EPISODE 38 Reshared: Define Yourself (with Joyce Kayima)
This is the 10th most listened-to episode on the podcast and it was published in season 2.
Define Yourself is the episode that captures what it is like to belong to two countries yet neither of them recognise you. The first time we chatted about it, I compared her situation to that of the mixed race - not white enough, not black enough.
After sharing this episode, a listener related to Joyce's story. His Tooro family doesn't recognise him because he was raised by a Muganda mom. While this seemed to be an episode about nations, I realised that there is so much more that affects our identity.

Once There Was A Star (with Meshack Yobby) - EPISODE 130
What is so bad about home that you cannot go back there and settle? Meshack answers this question in his debut novel, Once There Was a Star, and in this episode.
Once There Was A Star, made me realize what privilege looks like and to appreciate how we indeed experience life differently. While there were real victims of war, I only experienced the tragedy of war in a book.
When I read the book, I found myself so fully immersed in it that I almost failed to draw the line between my real-life experience and what was in the book. I found myself leaving home while looking over my shoulder so that anything looking suspicious of another war would find me alert. It required me to keep reminding myself that the war was just in the book I was reading.
Weeks ago, I sat down with the author, Meshack Yobby, to talk about the relevance of this book, why he chose war for his debut novel, and how heavy the creation process was.
If you have read this book or are a lover of a good story, this is the episode for you.

Take A Pause - Pink Noise
This month is for us to take a pause and what that means is that I will be releasing different kinds of noise to help you find your needs for tranquillity. We started with white noise last week and today we go in with a more balanced and more soothing sound to your ear.
Pink Noise. It mimics nature sounds such as the ocean waves and steady rain. For the purposes of this month's goal, Pink Noise comes in to help you find peace, calm, focus and even help you sleep better. You may also use it as a perfect ally for meditation and study.
If you're working on something but are struggling to focus, this is it for you and if it gets to the end before you finish what you are working on, re-plug your headsets. If you play it for yourself to sleep, it won't take 5 minutes for you to fall into a deep and peaceful slumber.
