Nerds and Slurred Words
By Manuel Lara and Goyo Lopez
You could also say we’re two mega nerds that love video games, movies, and TV shows you’ve never heard about but HAVE to watch. We also do not have the word “No” in our vocabulary when it comes to drinking and the science behind it. Want to know what your next adventurous request should be at the bar? Tune in (yes, people still say that). You won’t regret it.
TLDR; We drink, and we know things. And we google

Ep. 23: Margaritas and B-17 Bombers
Did you know that "Margarita" was spanish for Daisy? Or that mankind's greatest achievement is building an 8,500 gallon Margarita?
In this week's episode, we talk about the beauties that are Margaritas, and delve into the many new and exciting screenplays that will be blessing the Nerd World soon.
Do yourself a favor: Grab a margarita, sit back, relax, and enjoy the episode.
Ep. 22: Dry Sack Sherry and John Wick's Daddy Issues
In this week's episode, we're diving into a Spanish classic: Sherry Wine. A fortified wine with hundreds of years of history and tradition, this baby certainly knows how to party.
We also dive into the newly formed world of Gun Fu, one of the most popular genres of film today. Grab yourself a drink and discuss why John Wick is actually an art form of itself while also realizing that the matrix was just the beginning...or maybe it's the end?
Be sure to check out all our socials @slurrednerds to keep up with us and support the podcast! We appreciate y'all!
Thanks for listening. Cheers!
Ep. 21: Glenlevit Single Malt Whiskey and Apocalyptic Sci-Fi
Have you ever wondered what life would be like on earth after a nuclear apocalypse? Considered the chances of a zombie apocalypse? Or maybe you think a plague will wipe us out.
It's one of the most popular sci-fi genres out there, and Silo does it well. This week we're drinking the smooth and smoky Glenlevit Single Malt Whiskey while talking about Apple TV's newest hit series Silo.
If you haven't seen it, be warned there are MAJOR spoilers here, so be sure to go check it out before listening.
Otherwise, grab yourself a drink, sit back, relax, and hang out with us as we dive into our most recent nerd-dom.
We appreciate y'all being here. Cheers!
Ep. 20: Knob Creek Bourbon and a Plan to Colonize Mars
There's a special place in hell for people who waste good whiskey. We won't be there, and we hope y'all won't either.
In this weeks episode, we attempt to stay on track while drinking Basil Hayden and Knob Creek bourbon whiskey(s), which is a feat of it's own to be honest. These are some damn fine whiskeys if I do say so myself.
We also ask the age old question: would you be a pioneer? Would you help start up a colony on mars based on all the crazy sci-fi sh*t you've seen in the movies? Aliens bursting from your chest or crazy tornado storms that have faces?
Grab a drink, relax, and enjoy some nerd-dom like you've never heard before.
On another note, apologies for the delayed post. We had some issues on our end and got it taken care of.
Cheers!
Ep. 19: Tito's Vodka and Preposterous Sci-Fi
You doubted, but we delivered. We're back for week 2 of your 3-week Nerds and Slurred Words marathon.
This episode was recorded not too long ago, but also not recently. However, we'd like to apologize for the not-so-great audio quality. Apparently taking multiple shots of vodka prior to beginning of the episode can be detrimental to your audio-checking ability. Who knew?
In this week's episode, we talk about a timeless classic: Tito's vodka. Favorite of college students and vodka-drinkers alike, Tito's is sure to give you a kick in the shins and clear your sinuses. It'll also f*ck you up. So...yeah.
We also discuss some of the most preposterous sci-fi we've seen in movies and talk about what the reality of having something like that would be...from flying in space with wings to being completely dismantled at the atomic level.
We appreciate y'all stickin' around. We're here to stay too.
Stay nerdy, drink responsibly. Cheers!
Ep. 18: Padrino Tequila Blanco and Games That Changed Gaming
IT'S HAPPENING. STAY F*CKING CALM. We're back!
This episode is actually a bit past due. We've had this one in the works for over a YEAR and life happens, but your favorite nerds are back and only slightly (really) intoxicated.
In this episode, we're joined by our good buddy Louie while we drink Padrino Tequila straight out of a shot glass, learn a bit about what the hell a piña is when it comes to making tequila. We also get just a LITTLE bit heated about why Fortnite became so popular, if Elon Musk can really make us into a space-faring species, and what the hell a warp drive does...
We appreciate all of y'all stickin' around. You're the best. We're back and committed to sticking around too.
Don't forget to follow us on social media (@slurrednerds everywhere) and let us know if you enjoyed!
Cheers, and stay Nerdy.
Ep. 17: St. Arnold's Lawnmower and Dr. Strange Getting Some Strange
It's been a minute (again), but we're gonna give you a special treat. This week, we tried out a Koelsch-style St. Arnold's Lawnmower, and give you your weekly fix of nerding in the form of Dr. Strange, videogames, and your favorite two chunky dudes. Make sure to go follow our social media to find out all things Nerds and Slurred Words, as well as encourage us to get our sh*t together and keep giving you episodes.
Ep 16: Micheladas and Sci-Fi's Greatest Hits
Well slap me sideways and call me Sally, it's a brand new episode. It's been almost 2 months since our last episode and a bunch has happened, but we're back and we're better than ever. This week, we've got a Hispanic classic: Micheladas. Made with a cold beer, and San Antonio's very own Twang Michelada Mix, this sh*t has received a rating of BUSSIN'. We also talk about our favorite Sci-Fi movies from before the year 2000 when practical effects were in their finest days, and we've got a doozie for ya. Stop on by, crack open a cold beer, and enjoy the show. Or don't. I mean I guess that's up to you...
Ep. 15: Jack and Coke, St. Patty's Day, and COD's Hidden Gem
HOLY CANOLI IT'S BEEN A WHILE. However, here we are. Uploading. Who would've thought? In this episode, we pay homage to a time-honored tradition of sharing a pint of Guinness on St. Patty's day, drink some Jack and Coke, and talk about why Jack and Coke can ever be $15 at a bar. We also talk about our favorite shooter video games throughout the years as we delve into the magic that is Goyo's consciousness. You've GOT to grab yourself a highball, and get ready for this episode.
Ep. 14: Rogue Dead Guy Ale and Everything I Learned From Movies
What's better than a podcast that talks about alcohol while getting hammered? TWO podcasts that talk about alcohol while getting hammered! In this episode we interview Steve and Izzy from the Everything I Learned From Movies podcast, and talk about all of our favorite movie sagas while drinking a DELICIOUS Rogue Dead Guy Ale (who are we kidding...it was ales). Can confirm, we finished everything we had of these...

Ep 13: Cline vs 8 Years, The Dancing Disease, and Medieval Times
What the hell is the difference between cheaper wines and more expensive wines? Why were animals arrested and charged with crimes back in the day? Well, today we talk about two delicious red Zinfandel wines that will challenge your palette, as well as have you wondering what the difference really is. We can tell ya, there is one. We also talk about our favorite video games, books, and movies that take place in the Medieval era, known for terrible hygiene, poor living conditions, and of course, the dancing disease. Never heard of it? Come on in and find out.
Ep. 12: J Lohr Merlot, Glorious Sweat Gaming, and Film Flavortown
Holy f*ck knuckles, it's another episode! Guess what? You STILL can't tell what the hell is going on based on the title. This week, we are drinking a beautiful Merlot made by J Lohr Wineries. This vintage is from 2019, and we explain how you can take your wine tasting to a whole new level. Take these tips and tricks and impress all your friends, potential dating partners, your mom, whoever. We also talk about...well we talk about a lot of things to be honest. Dive into the world of Lost Ark, Dying Light 2, why JK Simmons is an incredible actor, and even follow us on drunk journeys. Still lost? So are we buddy. So are we...
Ep. 11: 19 Crimes, Boba v. Mando, and Holographic Honkers
We're back with season 2, and we're better than ever. Now, we are the classiest nerds you will ever know. This week we're switching it up and moving on to 19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon, a delicious red wine made by 19 Crimes Winery. We're also going to talk about The Book of Boba Fett (up to Episode 5), and why it's just not as good as the Mandalorian (SO FAR). What are the holographic honkers you might ask? Your imagination is probably serving you correctly. Come on in and find out.
Ep. 10: 512 WBADPP and the Season Finale
That's right, you read that right, it's the season finale folks. It's SLIGHTLY late, but we had some technical issues with our upload. Nonetheless, THIS is the end of our first season on Nerds and Slurred Words, and we decided to go out with a classy bang. This week, we tried out the 512 Brewing Company's Whiskey Barrel Aged Double Pecan Porter, a mouthful in more ways than one. While we delve into the beauty that is porter brewing and the history that brought it to us, we also decided to talk about our reactions to the MCU's biggest shows right now, as well as gave a little snippet into a gaming beauty that might be coming our way soon. Don't forget to share this with your fellow nerds if you enjoyed. Cheers!
