Summer Americorps Reflection

Summer Americorps Reflection

What a summer of growth it has been! As I look over the course of the summer, I think it’s only right to reflect on what I have gained through my service and the ways in which I can continue to develop and better myself. Service is not only about making the community slightly different than before being apart, but also about having self-realization and a moment of reflection to see how serving has changed you. I am a stronger, more determined person as a result. Enjoy a few moments of my verbal reflection on this summer!

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence

As I grow as a person this summer, emotions have flowed (both positive and more negative) and bloomed into a better understanding of how I interact with myself. Emotional intelligence works on recognition and understanding of emotions and feelings. Listen through as I talk about my own experiences and research about emotions! Restorative Justice

Restorative Justice

Restorative Justice builds the communities around us through open, honest conversation between social groups. This helps when conflict arises, without the drastic jump to punishments unwarranted to students. A restorative justice circle approach has positive benefits for all parties, especially when conducted through openness and honesty of all members. Transitions (for all those scary life changes)

Transitions (for all those scary life changes)

Welcome back! After a short break, we’re back and read to talk about transitions; specifically the ones where life gets extra crazy and the routines are thrown out the window. Transitions are difficult for all of us; hopefully a deeper understanding of what challenges us will help lessen the internal struggles of life.
