The Dux Podcast #2 - Amy Prewett

My guest today is BJJ and MMA gun Amy Prewett, four stripe blue belt, in this last year has won gold at BJJ Pan Pacs, Nationals and State Championships. She has competed four times at World Championships IBJJF and was gearing up for another shot at World Championships before Covid stopped any chance of that happening this year. She has been on a few other podcasts and she should really startup her own youtube channel and podcast she’s that talented. Amy is the social media/ communications guru at Spartans Gym in Kilsyth which allows her the ability to train full time for BJJ. Amy is an incredibly positive young woman, she also coaches BJJ at Immersion and Kings MMA, was previously a PT so knows a thing or two about training, health & fitness. Why should you do Jiu Jitsu, it’s the ‘sport’ where the smaller athlete can have the upper hand as it’s a game of skill. Amy and I have rolled and I’m not afraid to say she has easily won every roll. Young girls in particular, if you want to be strong, positive outlook in life look no further than someone you can talk to like Amy Prewett. Today we chat about coffee, coaching, BJJ vs MMA, coaching kids and watching your own kids compete in Jiu Jitsu tournaments, goals and their importance. Covid restrictions, strength & conditioning, challenges of finding females to train with in BJJ/ MMA & the increased interest from women towards getting into the sport. Lots of laughs throughout, Ladies & Gentlemen, Amy Prewett!
