Net Cast

By Mark L. Hatfield
An in-depth approach to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.

Net Cast was designed based on principles that Jesus shared with His disciples when they were fishing, by casting nets (See Luke 5:1-11). He told them that they would be fishers of men and they followed Him.

Net Cast has fishing for souls as its primary objective. We hope to help bring you closer to Christ through the studies of the word of God offered here.

Please send voice messages, feedback, and any gift to help support Net Cast.

Mirror Mirror - 1:19-27 (S5 - E5)
Being a good listener is critical to life. This is especially true of our life in the Lord. James will compare someone listening to the word of God and not obeying it to someone seeing their personal flaws in a mirror and walking away without correcting the food in their teeth, the hair out of place, or other blemishes that need to be fixed. We will discuss the three points that James offers to make us ready listeners who are willing to obey the voice of the Lord.  I have a new special offer that is connected with the Dispersed and Dedicated series in the book of James. If you partner with Net Cast during our 5th season, I want to send you the complete outline on the book of James, but I will also be including the supplemental PowerPoint slideshows to guide you in your study. Approval of the Blessed - 1:12-18 (S5 - E4)
James is going to encourage us as Christians to endure trials and temptations while remaining in the truth of God's word, knowing that one day we will have the approval of God and find blessings in eternity. Those that choose to allow sin to reign in their life will be tested and found wanting. Only those that remain true to the gospel call in spite of the efforts of Satan to destroy us will be welcomed to enjoy every good and perfect gift offered to us by the Lord.  I have a new special offer that is connected with the Dispersed and Dedicated series in the book of James. Being Steadfast During Trials - 1:2-4 (S5 - E2)
In our message today, James will address the saints that have been dispersed everywhere with an admonition to find joy and remain dedicated to the Lord even in the midst of hardships in life. We can learn from the example of James and his half-brother Jesus and apply some simple biblical principles that will help us to become more durable. Eventually, we will reach the mark of lacking in nothing. The goal is to become like our Lord who for the everlasting joy set before Him, endured the cross and despised the shame. I have a new special offer that is connected with the Dispersed and Dedicated series in the book of James. If you partner with Net Cast during our 5th season, I want to send you the complete outline on the book of James, but I will also be including the supplemental PowerPoint slideshows to guide you in your study. Love Acceptable - 8:1-4 (S4 - E32)
There are limitations to passionate intimacy that often leave us reeling and aching with unfulfilled desires. There are barriers that stand between us and our lover. We must honor God by maintaining purity outside of marriage, and yet we are still met with the obstacles of where and when to show our affection even after we are married, in order to be acceptable in social circles. Listen as we discuss how the young girl in our Song wishes that her lover was her brother so that it would be approved for her to show him affection openly.

In the last episode, we talked about how the young girl in the Song of Songs piqued the interest of the daughters of Jerusalem about her lover when she gave a detailed description of what he means to her. Today our episode begins with the young girl being shaken from what appears to be a nightmare and there is a happy resolution to all of her concerns of losing her lover as they are said to have fulfilled their love together. Garden Feasting - 5:1 (S4 - E24)
After a patient and passionate pursuit of love in marriage, these lovers will imbibe deeply in the intimacy that they have longed for in their relationship. It is beautiful when a couple waits eagerly until they are married to share their most intimate love together. As we will point out by contrasting this passage with Proverbs 7, sexual passion and intimacy have many similarities in and out of marriage. The fact is, the fornicator and adulterer God will judge. The difference then is whether God approves of the union and whether we can participate in the celebration of the love entered into by a man and a woman, based on God's will.  If it is approved, we encourage the new couple to have their fill of lovemaking.  WARNING: The following material is intended for mature audiences. Garden of Spices - 4:12-16 (S4 - E23)
There have been many analogies used to describe someone that is loved by a spouse. In this study, we will see the young girl in our Song described as a garden locked, a rock garden full of spices, fruits, and a spring sealed that is full of fresh flowing water. What does all of this mean? Listen in as we explore Song of Songs 4:12-16.  WARNING: The following material is intended for mature audiences. Revealing Beauty - 4:1-7 (S4 - E21)
Looking at the one we love and praising the features that enrapture us is a common practice among lovers. In our Song, we will see something similar and this is called a "wasf" in ancient Arabic love poetry. This word simply means description, but it is used here to describe metaphorically the way that someone appears through the eyes of love. Listen as we see how the beloved girl captures the heart of her man.  WARNING: The following material is intended for mature audiences. Coming to the King - 3:6-11 (S4 - E20)
Being in love makes us feel like royalty and we feel like we are on top of the world. We have found someone that is special and unique and they bring sweetness to our life by their presence. In this part of our study, the beloved girl will be coming to the king, like royalty and he will protect her and provide for her in whatever way that he needs to. Why is it that these feelings subside over time? How do we keep love alive and maintain this drive to be exhilarated always with a lover? Let me also mention that today is the first birthday of Net Cast. On this date last year, the premiere episode was launched. Thank you for listening, sending positive vibes my way. I especially want to thank our supporters who gave monetary gifts to help offset the costs associated with studio needs, supplies, and maintaining the host site: www.netcasthost.com. The Little Foxes - 2:14-17 (S4 - E18)
When obstacles stand in the way of our relationship with a lover, we need to know how to overcome them. In this portion of the Song of Songs, we see where little foxes are trying to bring chaos to the garden of love, by destroying the fresh blossoms. Lily Among Thorns - 2:1-2 (S4 - E13)
Often in a love relationship, we struggle to feel unique and special to the one we are in love with for life. We can feel like one in a million and that is not to say that we are one of a kind, but to express that there is nothing that makes us stand alone in the crowd. In this session, we will see our couple getaway and praise each other in spite of the insecurities being expressed. The young man will tear down her doubt by building her up and offering reassuring words that she rises above any other woman in existence. We will also explore the idea that the Lord has singled us out as peculiar in the face of Him coming to demonstrate His love for the entire world. Your soul is cherished by the Lord and He loves you.   WARNING: The following material is intended for mature audiences. Canopy of Praise - 1:15-17 (S4 - E12)
It is wonderful for lovers to get away from it all and offer their adoration and praise of one another. This gives us the opportunity to clear our view of distractions and take in all of the qualities that we cherish in the one that we love. When someone praises you for what they admire about you, it is important to reciprocate how we feel. If this is no longer happening in your relationships, perhaps it is time for a trip to renew and express our feelings by creating a canopy of praise.  WARNING: The following material is intended for mature audiences. Certain qualities in our lover can bring out the animal inside of us? We act abruptly and in some cases, out of control. This is what we refer to as "Love Crazy". In this episode, we are going to learn why the man in our Song refers to his beloved girl as a mare among the chariots of stallions. Black Beauty - 1:5-6 (S4 - E8)
Today we are going to confront self-esteem and self-image. The young girl in our Song says that she is black but lovely because she was forced to work out in the sun and became burned and sun-tanned. She felt like this affected her ability to compete with other women that could care for themselves on a daily basis. How do you feel about yourself? Do you feel inadequate with your looks in the world? Why are we always following the modern-day trends and styles to be like others? Do we struggle from the same issues that this young girl has to deal with on a daily basis? What kind of self-esteem do you have? We hear the masses shouting their personal woes endlessly. "I’m too tall or way too short! I’m too fat or too skinny! My skin is too fair or too dark" etc. etc. For some people, it may not be something to do with outward presentation or appearance. Others might be dealing with emotional scars. Join us as we dig deeper into these challenging questions to understand God's will on these matters. BONUS: We will take a few minutes in this episode to discuss the current race issues occurring in every major city across America and share some facts that you need to know from God's word. We need to prayerfully proceed with His wisdom so that we can repent and put a peaceful end to this hurtful dilemma that is tearing us apart.  WARNING: The following material is intended for mature audiences. We continue to provide general guidelines as a part of our introduction to the Song of Songs. All of this introductory material is recommended prior to entering into the textual study of the Song.  WARNING: The following material is intended for mature audiences. While this is a Bible study, the Song of Songs is written with references to sexual themes, intimate textual innuendos, and suggestive figurative language that may not be suitable for some audiences. Thank you for taking this word of caution into consideration as we begin today’s episode. As we start season 4 we are going to be addressing the awakening of love. What is God's will for our lives in the areas of pursuing love and the intimacy that we long for? We are going to address some introductory material in this episode that will help you understand the purpose of titling this series of messages, Love Awakening. Several times in the Song of Songs we hear the words, "Do not arouse or awaken love until it pleases". This is an adjuration that is not advice that we can take or leave. We must be certain that our love and the making of love is maintained in the marriage bed. We will explore how we can return to God's original plan for one man and one woman to enjoy life together while fulfilling all of their wildest fantasies and desires together. I have a new special offer that is connected with the Love Awakening series. Holy Spirit With Us (S3 -E2)
If you have ever wondered how the Holy Spirit abides with man to represent the presence of God, you need to listen to this episode. Here we examine the Old Testament primarily to investigate several prophecies that reveal the difference between the relationship that the Holy Spirit had with those under the old covenant and what his interactions with us look like today under the new covenant in Christ. We will explore the life of Jesus who was full of the Holy Spirit and explain how he was just the firstborn among many brethren. We too are promised that if we come in trusting faith to the Lord that we are given the gift of the Holy Spirit. This is just the beginning of his leadership in our lives.  With the start of the new season of Net Cast we have updated our special offer.
