New World Voices With Alex Shoer, Environmentalist Entrepreneur

New World Voices With Alex Shoer, Environmentalist Entrepreneur

Clean energy, community, China, and pioneering a new game are the topics Alex covers inside of this uplifting interview. Through his own personal journey as an entrepreneur change agent, he’s learned to embrace the challenges and the unknown to help others do the same as we shape a new reality.

Alex Shoer is an entrepreneur, environmentalist and innovator focused on creating solutions that address some of our biggest challenges.

In 2011, he saw that China was initiating big plans to radically improve the environment and he wanted to be a part of this. So he moved to Shanghai on a whim and quickly saw that renewable energy and energy efficiency are the quickest ways to decrease coal consumption, the biggest contributor to air pollution, which kills more than 1.6 million people annually in China.

Alex co-founded two clean energy and sustainability companies, first e8 Resources and later Seeder Clean Energy to bring new technologies to China and then to provide project financing and advisory services to scale up the implementation.

China has since led the world in renewable energy, factory emission standards and the move towards electric vehicles, and although the country still has a long way to go, they have made greater and faster improvements than any other country in the world, and hopefully, this is only the beginning.

Alex is a Climate Reality certified trainer and was recognized by President Obama as a "Global Impact Entrepreneur" and by the Chengdu government as “Ex-Pat Founder of the Year” in China. He is currently a member of the Shanghai chapter of Global Shapers and Singularity University and is a proud alumnus of several entrepreneurship programs including China Accelerator, Startup Chile, Fledge Incubator, and Stanford Ignite.
