The Eight Worldly Dharmas
The Eight Worldly Dharmas in Buddhism are four pairs of attachments and aversions that we experience continually in our daily lives, that yoke us to samsara, the cycle of suffering. They are the four hopes and corresponding four fears, which we cycle through endlessly—until, that is, we discover enlightenment (which includes liberation from the eight worldly concerns). What are they? How can they help us? What can we do? Welp, let's go on ahead and hop onto it!

The Highly Sensitive Person
Now, this term, the Highly Sensitive Person, is quite new to me. But it was refreshing to hear. You know how you just move through life without ever having a specific word to communicate something you feel or are, and then you hear it, and you're like YES! That’s me! Maybe you’ve wondered, am I a highly sensitive person? What does this mean? I have always been told that I am sensitive. When I was younger, actually up until recently, I thought this was a bad thing. So, if you are also sensitive, please know: this is a gift, and if you can figure out how to use it to your advantage, how to WIELD its power, life will feel a lot less overwhelming. Attachment Styles Part 1
The attachment bond we have with our caregivers growing up is not only a preview of what our relationships will look like, but also the relationship we have with ourselves. I remember learning about this back when I was in school (originally majored in psych, then minored), but I don't think I understood the weight it could hold in understanding some of the patterns I have been more cognizant of recently. This is exactly why I wanted to share this information with you. Maybe this might open your eyes to something you have never thought of or maybe just glanced over. I strongly believe knowledge is power. I would also recommend, if this does resonate with you, to seek help from a licensed therapist. Thoughts, Feelings, and Emotions
Mental health is something of utmost importance to me. As you can probably tell, a lot of my episodes are related to things that I am personally working through. The reason I do this, the reason I share my own experiences and opinions is because I hope to allow the listeners to relate, to feel validated, to feel less alone in their struggles. I like to shine light on things that most of us don't really talk about, at least not outside of closed therapy doors. I just wanted to note, in case it isn't obvious, I am not a therapist or a doctor. So please, listen and take what you need and leave what you don't.  The words thoughts and emotions are something I have struggled with separating from each other. What is this?!
Hello there. Hannah here. Maybe that is obvious. I am recording this from my living room/dining room/kitchen (it's all one room really) in Austin, Texas and it's raining here, which perfectly suits my mood. I had a hard day yesterday, and today I am feeling the emotional/mental hangover from that. I decided it was something I wanted to talk about. I am sure you have heard or read me saying that I get stuck a lot. Maybe twice a month. 2020 was the year, I believe anyway, that I grew the most. I had the most growing pains in 2020. This is now overflowing into 2021. I am not mad about it, obviously. I love growing. Sure, it is quite painful when it is happening, but usually SO worth it. This episode is really just sharing some of my struggles, some things I have been working on and learning about, and my hope is that this will resonate with you and make you feel like you aren't alone in your struggles.  I love you. Intuitive Wellbeing
We only get to live once. Why spend the time we have here worrying about these things that are somewhat meaningless in the end? I am not saying that you should be on a cupcake diet. But I do think that one of the reasons we binge or starve ourselves is because these “rules” that diet culture sets for us are just not sustainable, and when you start living and moving and eating intuitively, you won't have these overwhelming craving/shame cycles any more. I am calling this Intuitive Wellbeing. Moving when you want to and how you like to. Eating what you want to and when you are hungry. Eating what fuels your body, but also what tastes good. Anger
Anger! I was listening to a lecture for school the other day, and this man (a doctor) was speaking about how anger is the one emotion that isn't “acceptable”. When people act out of anger, we judge them. But, I believe, anger is an emotion we feel in response to other emotions. Sadness, shame, guilt, fear, hurt, worry, frustration, anxiety, and jealousy often lead to us acting in anger. Today we discuss the 6 dimensions of anger (how we express it) and 10 different kinds of anger and how to manage. I will also share some tips on how to navigate and express our anger in healthy, constructive ways! Stress!
Stress. I believe it is something we are all aware of. Obviously, specific things stress people out differently. For me, stress comes from finances, the unknown, my job, my family, my relationships, the future, responsibilities, etc. There are so many different things that can cause stress in our lives, but the things that are the most stressful according to research are : money, job pressure, political climate, poor health, relationships, the economy, family responsibilities, housing costs, job stability, and personal safety. This episodes addresses all of the symptoms of chronic stress (emotional, physical, cognitive and behavioural), how it affects our bodies, and tips on how to cope and manage our STRESS! Maybe you haven't really given sleep or your sleep habits much thought?
