Episode 21: Who Am I? Finding Your Identity Outside of Sports w/Serita Thurton
Beyond the athlete, there is a person who is driven by their passion to excel. Furthermore, being a collegiate athlete comes with a specific desire to be the best version of yourself, both in and out of your sport. However, it can be difficult to know who you really are without the "athlete identity".
In this week's episode, Mya and Aryanna sit down with Canadian & USF soccer player, Serita Thurton! They're talking about all things college recruiting, finding your identity beyond your sport, and more!

Episode 12: A Little Reflection Never Hurt Nobody
Reflection is an important part of growth. Reflecting on past experiences can help you learn from past mistakes, improve, and move forward.
As always, we want to keep it real.
For this week's episode, we wanted to reflect on our personal experiences. Aryanna talks about her experience of swimming during a pandemic and competing at the Canadian Olympic Trials. In addition, Mya talks about the emotions she has dealt with when watching Olympic Trials and how she coped with the inability to train "normally" when she was a competitive swimmer.
We know this has been a challenging year for everyone but we hope you can take some time to reflect on everything that has happened this year. There are always positives that can be taken away and room to improve.
We hope you enjoy this episode & thank you for listening🤍

Episode 11: Success Is Not a Personality Trait
If you read the title of this episode, you might be slightly confused. BUT... please let us explain😅
Success is something we all crave. That feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction is unlike any other. Some of the greatest athletes in the world become the greatest because of what they have achieved in their sport. But success is not a personality trait, it is something you have attained. Your achievements are only a part of who you are. We aren't here to knock down anyone who has achieved great success throughout their lives. However, we wanted to talk about how achieving success does not automatically make you a great person.
Thanks for tuning into yet another episode, we appreciate you!

When things don't go as planned, what do we do? Being an athlete, unfortunately, injuries are inevitable. In addition to the constant physical pain that we endure, our mental health can also take a toll. Common reactions include the initial "freak out", anxiety, over-thinking, self-doubt, etc... But how can we adapt to unforeseen circumstances, how do we move forward, and how can we advocate for ourselves?
⠀
This week, we're joined by former swimmer and sustainable wine enthusiast, Adrienne Friesen! In this episode, we're talking about handling chronic injuries, athletic derailment, and pursuing your passions.

WE'RE BACK! Sorry we were gone...BUT we are back and better than ever!
For our sixth episode, as always, we wanted to keep it real. As we continue to navigate through the current state of the Covid-19 pandemic, we wanted to talk about how we have been coping and reflected on what we've learned thus far. Alongside a year-long pandemic, most people are or have been faced with The F Word...in other words, Failure.
What makes us fear failure? How can we get past the fear of failure? How do we prevent failure from controlling our lives? These are questions we tackle in our first episode back from our little break.

Episode 4: Can You See My Insecurities Through The Mirror? w/Kelis Robinson
There’s no denying the stereotype surrounding athletes. Some expect athletes to look a certain way. People feel the need to comment on our appearance saying: “You’re a swimmer? Why don’t you have a swimmer’s body” or “You have so much muscle for a girl!” Quick question... Why is there an expectation for how athletes should look? ALSO... Why do some feel the need to comment on our eating habits?
For this week’s episode, we sat down with @kelisrobinsonn and talked about body image from an athlete's point of view and the side effects of scrolling through social media. We talked about our experiences with hating social media, finding the best way to fuel ourselves for our sport, and finding confidence within our own abilities.

Episode 3: A Guide to Training By Yourself, Lifesaving Sport, & Loving What You Do w/Jacob Miess
What motivates you? Why do you take part in a sport that consumes all of your time and energy? From the outside looking in, some people don't understand the commitment it takes to be an elite athlete.
Lifesaving Sport is a humanitarian sport that requires the skills and abilities that a lifeguard holds in a competitive environment. In this week's episode, we learn more about the sport through the eyes of Canadian Lifesaving Sport National Team Member, Jacob Miess. We discuss how difficult it can be to find motivation, surrounding yourself with positive influences, and the importance of enjoying and loving what you do.
