Making Social Impact Through Your Business by Liz Volpe
I had the pleasure talking to Liz Volpe about her journey on self discovery and purpose in business. Liz had carved a living running her successful marketing business however it was her trip to Cambodia that opened her eyes for children who were living in poverty and what could be done to help them.  Liz tapped in her  event and organizational skills on how to help these kids the best and Gen Z was created.  Liz started Gen Z, a social enterprise where she and team of people teach the kids in Cambodia about skills needed to start your own business. This program was launched on 2015 and have helped hundreds of children living in poverty up to date.  The workshops are now in 4th year and Liz and her team follow up on kids who have been through the education and see how they have transferred these skills to getting to university to study or have self sustained business that brings them income. We talked about how today's world we have different jobs, roles that we might not realize we need to have when we leave school. This year Liz is busy talking in schools, launching a documentary  and she believes more passionate you are about your business and cause the bigger impact you can have. Why Finnish Schools Are Different?
This episode I have wanted to do for a long while. But I wanted to wait  until my son had finalized his first first year in school here in Australia. In this episode I talk about the differences about schools in Finland and in Australia. I talk about the age kids start, how long are their school weeks, do they get school work, what about teachers? How do you become a teacher in Finland, what is free in the Finnish school system (and there is few things that are ) and what I would hope Finnish schools would take on board from Australia. I know that every country has their cultural beliefs and customs but I wanted to share to those mothers out there who are struggling to understand their local system and those who are just interested to hear how school is done in other countries how my home country Finland have set up the most amazing education system copied and talked around the globe.  I talk about -What age kids start school -Is there any homework for the kids? -What is the concept of Finnish School? -What makes Finnish Schools different to schools in Australia? -Its all about the teachers You can follow me on  NORDIC MUM INSTAGRAM: www.instagram.com/thenordicmum/  NORDIC MUM FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com/NordicMumSusanna  NORDIC MUM PINTEREST www.pinterest.com.au/TheNordicMum

Happy Healthy Body by Belinda Byrnes
Living a healthy happy life is directly linked on the way we are feeling about ourselves and what food we consume. I really wanted to talk to Belinda Byrnes about diet changes on how these can help you feel better. Belinda has background on personal fitness training and she has studied nutrition and naturopathy. She got interested on more holistic approach to health and well being once her skin condition got helped by naturopath.  I was intrigued on why we are not listening our bodies? Why we feel the way we feel after eating certain food groups. Why vegan diet is so popular? What about smoothie bowls are they really as healthy they seem in pictures ?  Belinda was able to myth bust some of these issues and give examples on what you should have on a happy healthy diet. We covered: -Understanding a Vegan diet -Smoothie bowls, are they as good for you as they look like? -What is healthy diet?  -What changes you can do to fuel your energy? Praise Yourself and Planning a Happy Christmas with Family
End of year is a great way to look back of what you have achieved in business and in life. It is also good time to relax and get away from the day to day of running your business. I talk about what you can do to minimize the amount of stress during holidays, having a happy and content Christmas with your love ones. Reducing the amount of toys and presents you get to your kids. Less is more I say. Kids want you and your time for Christmas not another play station game. Christmas can be stressful if you allow it to be, but it can be great time to just chill out and read that book you have wanted to read (Michell Obama Becoming, recommend ) and have a glass of wine and let the year pass. How to Live Sustainable Life With Your Baby
Whilst pregnant, we start planning on what we need to buy to our baby. We all want to have bottomless pockets and spent all the money we can to buy the newest gadgets, prams, basinets and clothing to our baby. All these because that is what we think we need to do. We read article after article, blog post after blog post, looking for recommendations from friends, Facebook groups and people how have recently had a baby. The amount of information out there is confusing. We think we need so many things, when in reality we do not. We go to baby expo and go crazy buying all the interesting new things we see which we did not know we needed . Then we come home and have a shopping hangover realising how all these things don’t fit in to our two-bed flat. Setting up a nursery and essentials to our baby does not need to be that difficult. There are few essentials products and services that you can use to reduce costs, carbon foot print and be sustainable parent to your baby. You can follow me on the following social media channels.
