We attempt for the first time writing episodes of our favorite 90s series in a new episode segment we're calling "90s Fan Fiction!" First up is Ally who wrote her very own original script for The Adventures of Pete & Pete called "Pete State Fair." Ally, Andy, Jeff, and Maria all portray the roles of the beloved series. We play a round of "Do You Know It?!" with Quizmaster Andy, and Ally leads a Pete-centric "Then & Now!" 37. PRIDE Month: The Matrix as a Transgender Metaphor
It's PRIDE Month and since we are an LGBTQ+ identified and allies podcast we are dedicating all of June to 90s LGBTQ+ topics!
This week, Ally leads a review and discussion on the 1999 film The Matrix. Written and directed by the Wachowski Sisters, the Sci-Fi Action film starred Keanu Reaves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Hugo Weaving. The Wachowski Sisters, who are transgender, have discussed the film correlations to their personal experiences and for all trans people. We decided to review the film and discuss these connections and how the film is an overall metaphor for transgender experience, while sharing some personal notes as well. Plus, Andy leads a round of Do You Know It?! and Jeff rounds out the episode with a Then and Now!

36. PRIDE month: HIV representation in 90s
It's PRIDE Month and since we are an LGBTQ+ identified and allies podcast we are dedicating all of June to 90s LGBTQ+ topics!
This week, Jeff leads an episode and discussion on HIV and how it was represented in the 90s. Jeff has been an HIV activist for over a decade, and with PRIDE this month, felt it was important to talk about how the world in the 90s viewed HIV and AIDS. We discuss our experiences growing up and now, talk pop culture moments that focused on HIV, and then Ally leads an episode review of season 3 episode 8 of the Real World: San Francisco. The episode primarily focused on Pedro, a cast member who contracted HIV and used his platform on MTV to educate the public. Andy then ends the episode with a Then and Now on Magic Johnson.

The series starred comedian Ellen DeGeneres and is notable during the 90s since Ellen, the comedian, just came out as gay, but also her character in the series was the first main television character to come out as gay, paving the way for more LGBTQ+ representation in the media, and thus bringing LGBTQ+ people to America's forefront. Jeff, discusses his coming out stories and also leads a round of Do You Know It?! And Andy rounds out the episode with a Then & Now.

34. A Conversation with Al Jean
On a special episode of Notable Nostalgia, we are joined by Al Jean! Al is notably known as a writer from the Simpsons starting at season one and over the years has been a producer, head writer, and showrunner for the series on almost all 32 seasons of the series. He is also notably known as the co-creator of the very funny animated 90s series The Critic! We ask Al about his start in comedy writing working for Johnny Carson and Gary Shandling, which characters he had in the development in Simpsons characters, his work on the Critic and much more! Will McRobb is the co-creator of the Adventures of Pete & Pete, co-creator of Kablam and was a writer and storyboard editor for Nicktoons like Doug and Ren & Stimpy! We talk about how Will got started at Nickelodeon, how Kablam got it's sketches for air, what it was like working at Spumco studios, and of course all the nuances and greatness of Pete & Pete!
