The Obsidian Pen Podcast
By LP Kersey
The Obsidian Pen Podcast, a production by Obsidian Pen Publishing, LLC features writers from all over, with something to say when pen and paper aren't enough. Each writer featured delivers a reading of an original piece followed by a discussion, giving readers a glimpse into the mind of an artist. Be reminded, this is an amateur production with a socially awkward host who just happens to be an avid reader. Expect the unexpected, off topic, off script, and totally spontaneous deviation from protocol. It is what it is.

Kheena aka the "Queena"
Kheena King-Slaymon also know as Queena Kingslay started writing as a young girl as a method to cope with turmoil she experienced, leading her to a strong desire to be heard. At age 18 she performed her first spoken word open mic at Expressions in her hometown, Raleigh, NC. Though shy, insecure, and quiet, it was there that she found her voice and grew to read at other events from Raleigh to Charlotte, where she now resides. Poetry is just one of the many layers of this eclectic soul. She's a wife of 17 years, no children, works in corporate America in International Sales Support and also real estate in both NC & SC. In spite of her professions, and not being too big on politics, she is big on social justice, which is what inspired this poem. Perhaps an unpopular view, but a view that needed to be heard.
