It's the season finale! There has been a constant throughout the Back to Basics series: Bible verses. In this episode, I discuss the Bible, a compilation of divinely-inspired writings, foundational to our faith walk. I engage in conversation with Emely, my wise friend and Bible study partner. She shares her experience as someone who started reading the Word recently, and the ways in which it has enriched her life. This episode embodies everything that I envisioned for Back to Basics: honesty, simplicity and light. Back to Basics IV-Post-it Notes on Prayer
In this episode, I talk about prayer as a means of communicating with God in order to foster a relationship with our maker. While there is no one way to pray, I share little notes on the "how" part of this practice. I discuss the ways in which our view of God and prayer affects how we pray (perception), using sincere words (simplicity), knowing that we are never alone in prayer (community), diligently seeking God (consistency) and graduating from praying solely about our needs to praying for transformation (introspection).

“For prayer is request. The essence of request, as distinct from compulsion, is that it may or may not be granted.”-C.S Lewis
"What I mean is this. An ordinary simple Christian kneels down to say his prayers. He is trying to get into touch with God. But if he is a Christian he knows that what is prompting him to pray is also God: God, so to speak, inside him. But he also knows that all his real knowledge of God comes through Christ, the Man who was God – that Christ is standing beside him, helping him to pray, praying for him. You see what is happening. God is the thing to which he is praying – the goal he is trying to reach. God is also the thing inside him which is pushing him on – the motive power. God is also the road or bridge along which he is being pushed to that goal. So that the whole threefold life of the three-personal Being is actually going on in that ordinary little bedroom where an ordinary man is saying his prayers."-An excerpt from Mere Christianity by C.S Lewis

I also talk about the power of music in general, and nuanced ways of thinking about its effects.
