This is a new segment within Opi.nionated Chronicles. This is where we discuss hot topics, current events and anything on our mind. Today in the Girls' group chat, I am joined by Laila, Timmie, Danielle, Stacey, Tanaka and Vimbai. We talk about open-relationships, monogamy and polygamy (Will and Jada). Kylie Jenner and shopping black owned businesses, Domestic violence in African homes and finally, we unpack lessons we have learned during this lockdown period and how it has impacted our mental health. 

In this weeks episode, I am joined by Laila. We discuss the three main caricatures that black women have been equated to and how this has been carried on in modern day representations. Whilst touching on our own experiences, we also explore the negative effects of these misrepresentations and how this has lead to the mistreatment of black women.

We touch on the nature vs nurture argument and why some views are damaging, and also delve into the world of ballroom culture... There are a lot of laughs in this episode and he even gives advice to people who may be struggling to find acceptance from people close to them. This episode features my beautiful mother. We talk about her past as a young girl growing up in Africa (Zimbabwe). We discuss the 'taboo' topics of sex, relationships and mental health issues and why they have been labelled as this. Mum shares some stories of what she went through and how she wasn't able to be as vocal about these things in her youth; I share my experience too and talk about how it has impacted me.
