Ep 136 - When Should Kids Get a Phone? And What Kind?

Knowing when to give your kids a phone and what kind is a common question we have as parents. This is something we often talk to family and friends about. There are so many different options, which one do you choose? And how do you manage your kids' phone use? We don't have all the answers, but we're sharing some stats that we've learned as well as what we do in our home. This is just what has worked for us.

We love our Troomi phone for our oldest daughter and it has worked great for us. Use the code PARENTING to get $50 off your Troomi phone. Or on November 8-9, we will have a special 48 hour code that only our listeners have access to that will get you the $50 off PLUS 6 months of free cell service. So join our newsletter to get the link on those days or follow us on Instagram to get the code there. Mark your calendars because it's only those 2 days!

Ep 121 - Why Teenagers are Depressed & What We Can Do About It

Ep 121 - Why Teenagers are Depressed & What We Can Do About It

We recently read an article about how teenagers today are more depressed than ever. But it wasn't caused by the pandemic or any one thing. They narrowed it down to 4 main things that we discuss and share some of our ideas of how we're combatting them. We were surprised that one of the 4 main things is modern parenting!

This week’s Sponsor is Troomi. We love using Troomi because it grows with our kid. It also has a great Parent Portal that allows me to see my kid's text messages, control their contacts, and see where their phone is located on GPS. Use the promo code: PARENTING for $50 off a Troomi phone.

Parenting Pep Talk - Joy in the Small Things

Parenting Pep Talk - Joy in the Small Things

Today's parenting pep talk is all about finding joy in the small things. We love both the sayings "Water what you want to grow" (Alan's mom) and "Look for the good and soon it's all you'll see" (Ralphie Jacobs). As you look for the good around you and in your children, then you'll not only find more joy in your surroundings, but you'll also find the positive behaviors in your kids that they'll want to repeat as you point them out. Look for the good in your kids today!

Ep. 115 - How to Get Kids to Stop Fighting - No Screen Challenge

Have your kids been fighting even more lately? Maybe been more grumpy? We find that around this time of year, our kids get a little cabin fever and seem to get a bit crazier than normal. So we like to do a No Screen Challenge. Seems counter-intuitive, right? But it works! In this episode we're diving in to our No Screen Challenge and how you can participate. You can do it as little or as long as you like and you can choose no screens or just some screens. Totally up to you!

We're starting the challenge Monday March 14 and ending April 1. We would love for you to join us in whatever way feels right for your family!

Ep. 111 - From Super Argumentative to Super Independent Thinker - How to Find Your Child's Super Powers

Do you have a really stubborn child? How about a super argumentative child? Or maybe a very anxious child? Or maybe all of those?? (We do!) But those are all negative terms and when we use negative terms to describe our children, it just creates a negative cycle. So how can you see your child's negative behaviors as positive? And could they actually be a good trait? Yes they can!

Today we are talking about how the negative behaviors our children have could actually be their super power especially as we guide them and help them use those powers. We've had a lot of the parenting experts on our podcast talk about reframing so we're going to dive into that a bit deeper and learn how to change the negative to something positive.

Ep. 105 - Create a Reverse Bucket List for 2021

We just wanted to say a quick Happy New Year and we have a little challenge for you. As we have been reflecting on the last year, we found that usually what we remember are the best parts of the year even though the day to day can be hard as a parent. So we hope you can take a few minutes to look back on the year over the next few days and remember the good things as you plan and start 2022.
