Bonus Content - C.S. Lewis's Miracles ch.1-6 Book Club Session
I'm leading a read-along of and book club on C.S. Lewis's book Miracles: A Preliminary Study over on my Substack. We're reading through the book in 6 weeks and I'm writing 7-9 companion essays to help my audience better understand Lewis's arguments. It's been going great so far! Check out the companion essays here: https://parknotes.substack.com/
This bonus content for my paid viewers is the recording of our first book club session where a few of my paid subscribers and I discuss chapters 1-6. I'll host two more of these so let me know if you want in and I will send that next zoom call link to my paid subscribers here as well. Enjoy this first conversation, we cover CSL, Naturalism, Kant, the argument from Reason and much more!

Arguments Against David Chalmers's Simulation God [Bonus Episode]
Does God exist? If we live in a computer simulation, is our simulator our God? Philosopher David Chalmers thinks yes and yes. He argues that we may in fact live in a computer simulation and that's one of the best arguments for the existence of God. But the god of the simulation wouldn't be a full blown cosmic God like the Abrahamic God. So Chalmers argues that he can unite theism and atheism, naturalism and creationism, through the simulation hypothesis (or simulation theory). Ep. 231 - How to Tell When Babies and Machines Are Conscious w/Dr. Claudia Passos
In episode 231 of the Parker's Pensées Podcast, I'm joined by Dr. Claudia Passos to discuss her talk from Mind Fest 2023 at Florida Atlantic University, the official opening of the Center for the Future Mind. We discuss two different approaches to solving the problem of infant consciousness (the problem of determining that they are in fact conscious): the behavioral/neurobiological markers approach and the theory approach. After we discussed the former we dove into 2 philosophical theories of consciousness and 2 scientific approaches. We then go deep into the philosophy of AI and how we might be able to tell if and when they become conscious. Check the time stamps for specific topics. Claudia Passos-Ferreira is Assistant Professor of Bioethics. She studied psychology at the Rio de Janeiro State University and earned her MA and Ph.D. in the program of Human Sciences and Health Sciences in Public Health there. She obtained a second Ph.D. in Philosophy at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
