Peace values people over profits

Peace values people over profits

On the eve of the international day of peace, September 21, I am so excited about launching a peace song for the Congo. Hear how we made it (and a sneak preview), and what I've learned about peace building this year. If we all take care of each other, we'll all be OK, but until then, we'll all be vulnerable - especially peace defenders in the DRC. But, together, we can build peace. Love is the way. Heaven and hell - which will win?

Heaven and hell - which will win?

There are people with nothing at the food distribution, yet they are grateful and say we must have faith in God. There are people with guns who robbed, killed and chased them from their homes. Heaven and hell, here in Ouicha. Which one's going to win? I saw so many needs today...and so many devoted souls doing their best to meet them.

Broken windows, divine connections

Broken windows, divine connections

When I passed the University of Goma today I was shocked at the broken windows and wondered if a peace program could help. I was on my way to meet a friend and discovered he had already started planning it. How divinely appointed! We are all members of one global family, white and black, North and South, different tribes and religions. It's time to act like one.

Unexpected blessings in Beni

Unexpected blessings in Beni

I didn't have the week I expected - violence precluded that - but I had an awesome day doing multi-faith Ebola sensitisation and interviewing a powerful youth advocate in Beni, DRC.

Congo Diaries, Day 5

Congo Diaries, Day 5

After setting up house, I jumped straight into work. It's difficult learning everything for the first time - where to find information, software, hardware, passwords, pizza...i feel safe on my street (NGO row), but there were 27 murders in Goma last month. I love it here, but it's a huge challenge.
