Pittagoda

By Pittagoda

“Pitta Goda” is a Telugu phrase that literally means a “parapet”, a kind of wall, where sometimes neighbours gather to gossip.

Figuratively, we at Pittagoda take it to mean a place where people come to express their opinions irrespective of whether anyone is actually hearing them. Kind of like an FMS group discussion.

In our podcast, we bring you conversations - about cinema, books, life and more. Please subscribe to our podcast if you like what you heard!

Lockdown Chronicles: Telugu Corona Cinema

Lockdown Chronicles: Telugu Corona Cinema

How would a Telugu movie tackle the Covid situation? How will the hero save the masses from the pandemic? Will he use ancient Indian wisdom or modern science? Will there be two heroines or three?

At Pittagoda, we imagine a whole new (or maybe not) reality. Hopefully, it will never be made into a movie!

Featuring the Pittagoda gang, Ravi, Sarat, Jayanth and Deepa

Pittagoda Books: Habibi

Pittagoda Books: Habibi

Sangeetha and Rohit discuss the graphic novel Habibi, written by Craig Thompson.

Set in a fairy tale landscape, a strange and timeless place called Wanatolia, Habibi tells the story of two individuals - Dodola and Zam, both orphaned at a young age and brought together through chance, circumstances and shared misery. They grow up through the book and discover their love changing from that of a mother-child (as a provider-dependant) to siblings (as playmates) to lovers.

Ever since its publication, Habibi has been called mysterious, racist and everything in between. Listen to this conversation about this controversial book.

Murder mysteries and an unequal treatment

Murder mysteries and an unequal treatment

We sent Ravi on a dangerous mission this week - that of watching a murder mystery featuring an ageing star. We don't have a problem with ageing stars, except when they are in denial. Luckily, Tollywood went full Sherlock Holmes this fortnight and released a second, better murder mystery. Listen to Ravi talk about Agent Sai Srinivas Atreya and Kalki. And find out what a British model is doing in a Rajasekhar movie.
